1 Lo, all this my eye has seen; my ear has heard and perceived it.	1 Ed ecco, ogni cosa vidde l'occhio mio, e udio l'orecchio mio, e intesi ogni cosa.
2 What you know, I also know; I fall not short of you.	2 Secondo la vostra scienza e io conobbi, e non sono da meno di voi.
3 But I would speak with the Almighty; I wish to reason with God.	3 Ma pure all' Onnipotente favelleroe, e disputare con Dio desidero;
4 You are glossing over falsehoods and offering vain remedies, every one of you!	4 in prima mostrando che voi siete fabbricatori della bugia, e amatori delle perverse sentenze.
5 Oh, that you would be altogether silent! This for you would be wisdom.	5 E Iddio il volesse, che voi foste taciuti, acciò che voi foste tenuti savii.
6 Hear now the rebuke I shall utter and listen to the reproof from my lips.	6 Adunque udite le mie correzioni, e al giudicio delli miei labbri intendete.
7 Is it for God that you speak falsehood? Is it for him that you utter deceit?	7 Or ha bisogno Iddio della vostra bugia, acciò che per lui favelliate inganno?
8 Is it for him that you show partiality? Do you play advocate on behalf of God?	8 Or desiderate voi la faccia sua, e per Dio vi sforzate giudicare?
9 Will it be well when he shall search you out? Would you impose on him as one does on men?	9 Ovvero piacerà a lui, il quale celare niuna cosa puote? Ovvero sarae ingannato, sì come l'uomo, colle vostre fraudi?
10 He will openly rebuke you if even in secret you show partiality.	10 Elli reprenderà voi, perciò che nascosamente la faccia sua ricevete.
11 Surely will his majesty affright you and the dread of him fall upon you.	11 Incontanente che si muoverà, turberà voi, e la paura sua rovinerae sopra voi.
12 Your reminders are ashy maxims, your fabrications are mounds of clay.	12 La vostra memoria s'assomiglierae alla cenere, e ritorneranno in luto li capi vostri.
13 Be silent, let me alone! that I may speak and give vent to my feelings.	13 Tacete uno poco, acciò ch' io favelli qualunque cosa la mente rapporterà a me.
14 I will carry my flesh between my teeth, and take my life in my hand.	14 Perchè lacero io le carni mie colli denti miei, e l'anima mia porto nelle mani mie?
15 Slay me though he might, I will wait for him; I will defend my conduct before him.	15 Ancora s' elli ucciderà me, in lui spererò; ma pure le vie mie nel cospetto suo riprenderò.
16 And this shall be my salvation, that no impious man can come into his presence.	16 Ed elli sarae lo mio Salvatore; e in veritade ogni ipocrita non verrà dinanzi a lui.
17 Pay careful heed to my speech, and give my statement a hearing.	17 Udite la parola mia, e li miei parlari oscuri ricevete colle orecchie vostre.
18 Behold, I have prepared my case, I know that I am in the right.	18 S' io sarò giudicato, so che giusto sarò trovato.
19 If anyone can make a case against me, then I shall be silent and die.	19 Chi è colui il quale sia giudicato meco? venga; perchè tacendo mi consumo (nella mente)?
20 These things only do not use against me, then from your presence I need not hide:	20 Due cose non mi fare, e allora della faccia tua non mi nasconderò.
21 Withdraw your hand far from me, and let not the terror of you frighten me.	21 La tua mano fa di lungi da me, e la paura tua non mi spaventi.
22 Then call me, and I will respond; or let me speak first, and answer me.	22 E chiama me, e io risponderò a te; ovvero certo io favelleroe, e tu risponderai a me.
23 What are my faults and my sins? My misdeeds and my sins make known to me!	23 Quante iniquitadi ho io e quanti peccati, le fellonie mie e peccati mostra a me.
24 Why do you hide your face and consider me your enemy?	24 Perchè nascondi tu la faccia tua, e pensi tu me esser tuo nemico?
25 Will you harass a wind-driven leaf, or pursue a withered straw?	25 Contro la foglia, che si tolle dal vento, mostri la tua potenza; e la paglia secca persèguiti.
26 For you draw up bitter indictments against me, and punish in me the faults of my youth.	26 Certo tu scrivi contro a me la amaritudine, e vogli consumare me per li peccati della mia fanciullezza.
27 You put my feet in the stocks; you watch all my paths and trace out all my footsteps.	27 Tu ponesti nel nervo lo mio piede, e osservasti tutte le mie vie, e le vestigie de' miei piedi considerasti.
28 Though he wears out like a leather bottle, like a garment that the moth has consumed?	28 Il quale sono da essere consumato come puzza, e sì come vestimento mangiato dalla tignuola.
