1 Salmo di David. Signore, tu hai fatto saggio di me, e mi hai conosciuto: tu hai conosciuto il mio stare, e il mio andare.	1 Unto the end. A Psalm of David. O Lord, you have examined me, and you have known me.
2 Tu da lungi vedesti i miei pensieri: osservasti il filo de' passi miei.	2 You have known my sitting down and my rising up again.
3 E le mie vie tutte tu prevedesti; anche quando parola non è sulla mia lingua.	3 You have understood my thoughts from afar. My path and my fate, you have investigated.
4 Ecco che tu, o Signore, le cose tutte hai conosciute, le ultime, e le antiche: tu mi formasti, e ponesti sopra di me la tua mano.	4 And you have foreseen all my ways. For there is no word in my tongue.
5 Mirabile si è rendnta in me la tua sapienza: ella è molto elevata, e ad essa non potrò io aggiungere.	5 Behold, O Lord, you have known all things: the newest and the very old. You have formed me, and you have placed your hand over me.
6 Dove anderò io lontan dal tuo spirito, e dove fuggirò io lontano dalla tua faccia?	6 Your knowledge has become a wonder to me. It has been reinforced, and I am not able to prevail against it.
7 Se salirò al cielo ivi se' tu; se scenderò nell'inferno, tu se' presente.	7 Where will I go from your Spirit? And where will I flee from your face?
8 Se io prenderò le ali al mattino, e anderò a stare nelle ultime parti del mare:	8 If I ascend into heaven, you are there. If I descend into Hell, you are near.
9 Colà pure mi guiderà la tua mano, e sarò sotto il potere della tua destra.	9 If I assume my feathers in early morning, and dwell in the utmost parts of the sea,
10 E io dissi: Forse mi occulteranno le tenebre: ma la notte è luce, che mi disvela ne' miei piaceri.	10 even there, your hand will lead me forth, and your right hand will hold me.
11 Perocché le tenebre non sono oscure per te, e la notte sarà illuminata come il giorno: il buio, e la luce son la stessa cosa per lui.	11 And I said: Perhaps darkness will overwhelm me, and the night will be my illumination, to my delight.
12 Perocché tu se' padrone de' miei affetti: prendesti cura di me fin dal seno di mia madre.	12 But darkness will not be impenetrable to you, and night will illuminate like the day: for just as its darkness is, so also is its light.
13 Darò lode a te, perché sommamente grande ti se' dimostrato: le opere tue son mirabili, e troppo bene il conosce l'anima mia.	13 For you have possessed my temperament. You have supported me from the womb of my mother.
14 Non sono ignote a te le mie ossa lavorate, nel segreto, la mia sostanza lavorata nelle viscere della terra.	14 I will confess to you, for you have been magnified terribly. Your works are miraculous, as my soul knows exceedingly well.
15 Gli occhi tuoi mi videro quand'io era informe: or tutti nel tuo libro saranno scritti: nuovi giorni si formeranno, e neppur uno ne mancherà.	15 My bone, which you have made in secret, has not been hidden from you, and my substance is in accord with the lower parts of the earth.
16 Ma sono grandemente onorati da me, o Dio, gli amici tuoi: grandemente possente è divenuto il loro impero.	16 Your eyes saw my imperfection, and all this shall be written in your book. Days will be formed, and no one shall be in them.
17 Se vorrò contarli saran più che l'arene del mare: mi alzai, e sono ancora con te.	17 But to me, O God, your friends have been greatly honored. Their first ruler has been exceedingly strengthened.
18 Se tu, o Dio, porrai a morte i peccatori: ritiratevi da me, o uomini sanguinarj:	18 I will number them, and they will be more numerous than the sand. I rose up, and I am still with you.
19 Perché voi dite drento di voi: inutilmente si farann' eglino padroni di tue cittadi.	19 O God, if only you would cut down sinners. You men of blood: depart from me.
20 E non ho io odiati, o Signore, quelli, che ti odiano? E mi struggeva a cagione de' tuoi nemici?	20 For you say in thought: They will accept your cities in vain.
21 Con odio perfetto io gli odiava, e ni si son fatti nemici.	21 Have I not hated those who hated you, Lord, and wasted away because of your enemies?
22 Provami, o Signore, e il mio cuore disamina: interrogami, e riconosci i miei andamenti.	22 I have hated them with a perfect hatred, and they have become enemies to me.
23 E vedi se per la via di iniquità io cammini: e per la via dell'eternità mi conduci.	23 Examine me, O God, and know my heart. Question me, and know my paths.
	24 And see if there might be in me the way of iniquity, and lead me in the way of eternity.
