LXXNEW JERUSALEM
εγενετο δε μετα τα ρηματα ταυτα ημαρτεν ο αρχιοινοχοος του βασιλεως αιγυπτου και ο αρχισιτοποιος τω κυριω αυτων βασιλει αιγυπτου1 It happened some time later that the king of Egypt's cup-bearer and his baker offended their masterthe king of Egypt.
και ωργισθη φαραω επι τοις δυσιν ευνουχοις αυτου επι τω αρχιοινοχοω και επι τω αρχισιτοποιω2 Pharaoh was angry with his two officials, the chief cup-bearer and the chief baker,
και εθετο αυτους εν φυλακη παρα τω δεσμοφυλακι εις το δεσμωτηριον εις τον τοπον ου ιωσηφ απηκτο εκει3 and put them in custody in the house of the commander of the guard, in the gaol where Joseph was aprisoner.
και συνεστησεν ο αρχιδεσμωτης τω ιωσηφ αυτους και παρεστη αυτοις ησαν δε ημερας εν τη φυλακη4 The commander of the guard assigned Joseph to them to attend to their wants, and they remained incustody for some time.
και ειδον αμφοτεροι ενυπνιον εκατερος ενυπνιον εν μια νυκτι ορασις του ενυπνιου αυτου ο αρχιοινοχοος και ο αρχισιτοποιος οι ησαν τω βασιλει αιγυπτου οι οντες εν τω δεσμωτηριω5 Now both of them had dreams on the same night, each with its own meaning for the cup-bearer andthe baker of the king of Egypt, who were prisoners in the gaol.
εισηλθεν δε προς αυτους ιωσηφ το πρωι και ειδεν αυτους και ησαν τεταραγμενοι6 When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they looked gloomy,
και ηρωτα τους ευνουχους φαραω οι ησαν μετ' αυτου εν τη φυλακη παρα τω κυριω αυτου λεγων τι οτι τα προσωπα υμων σκυθρωπα σημερον7 and he asked the two officials who were in custody with him in his master's house, 'Why these sadlooks today?'
οι δε ειπαν αυτω ενυπνιον ειδομεν και ο συγκρινων ουκ εστιν αυτο ειπεν δε αυτοις ιωσηφ ουχι δια του θεου η διασαφησις αυτων εστιν διηγησασθε ουν μοι8 They replied, 'We have each had a dream, but there is no one to interpret it.' 'Are not interpretationsGod's business?' Joseph asked them. 'Tel me about them.'
και διηγησατο ο αρχιοινοχοος το ενυπνιον αυτου τω ιωσηφ και ειπεν εν τω υπνω μου ην αμπελος εναντιον μου9 So the chief cup-bearer described his dream to Joseph, tel ing him, 'In my dream there was a vine infront of me.
εν δε τη αμπελω τρεις πυθμενες και αυτη θαλλουσα ανενηνοχυια βλαστους πεπειροι οι βοτρυες σταφυλης10 On the vine were three branches; no sooner had it budded than it blossomed, and its clustersbecame ripe grapes.
και το ποτηριον φαραω εν τη χειρι μου και ελαβον την σταφυλην και εξεθλιψα αυτην εις το ποτηριον και εδωκα το ποτηριον εις τας χειρας φαραω11 I had Pharaoh's cup in my hand; I picked the grapes and squeezed them into Pharaoh's cup, and putthe cup into Pharaoh's hand.'
και ειπεν αυτω ιωσηφ τουτο η συγκρισις αυτου οι τρεις πυθμενες τρεις ημεραι εισιν12 'This is what it means,' Joseph told him. 'The three branches are three days.
ετι τρεις ημεραι και μνησθησεται φαραω της αρχης σου και αποκαταστησει σε επι την αρχιοινοχοιαν σου και δωσεις το ποτηριον φαραω εις την χειρα αυτου κατα την αρχην σου την προτεραν ως ησθα οινοχοων13 In another three days Pharaoh wil lift up your head by restoring you to your position. Then you wilhand Pharaoh his cup, as you did before, when you were his cup-bearer.
αλλα μνησθητι μου δια σεαυτου οταν ευ σοι γενηται και ποιησεις εν εμοι ελεος και μνησθηση περι εμου φαραω και εξαξεις με εκ του οχυρωματος τουτου14 But be sure to remember me when things go wel with you, and keep faith with me by kindlyreminding Pharaoh about me, to get me out of this house.
οτι κλοπη εκλαπην εκ γης εβραιων και ωδε ουκ εποιησα ουδεν αλλ' ενεβαλον με εις τον λακκον τουτον15 I was kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews in the first place, and even here I have done nothingto warrant being put in the dungeon.'
και ειδεν ο αρχισιτοποιος οτι ορθως συνεκρινεν και ειπεν τω ιωσηφ καγω ειδον ενυπνιον και ωμην τρια κανα χονδριτων αιρειν επι της κεφαλης μου16 The chief baker, seeing that the interpretation had been favourable, said to Joseph, 'I too had adream; there were three wicker trays on my head.
εν δε τω κανω τω επανω απο παντων των γενων ων ο βασιλευς φαραω εσθιει εργον σιτοποιου και τα πετεινα του ουρανου κατησθιεν αυτα απο του κανου του επανω της κεφαλης μου17 In the top tray there were al kinds of pastries for Pharaoh, such as a baker might make, and thebirds were eating them off the tray on my head.'
αποκριθεις δε ιωσηφ ειπεν αυτω αυτη η συγκρισις αυτου τα τρια κανα τρεις ημεραι εισιν18 Joseph replied as fol ows, 'This is what it means: the three trays are three days.
ετι τριων ημερων αφελει φαραω την κεφαλην σου απο σου και κρεμασει σε επι ξυλου και φαγεται τα ορνεα του ουρανου τας σαρκας σου απο σου19 In another three days Pharaoh wil lift up your head by hanging you on a gallows, and the birds willeat the flesh off your bones.'
εγενετο δε εν τη ημερα τη τριτη ημερα γενεσεως ην φαραω και εποιει ποτον πασι τοις παισιν αυτου και εμνησθη της αρχης του αρχιοινοχοου και της αρχης του αρχισιτοποιου εν μεσω των παιδων αυτου20 And so it happened; the third day was Pharaoh's birthday and he gave a banquet for al his officials.Of his officials he lifted up the head of the chief cup-bearer and the chief baker,
και απεκατεστησεν τον αρχιοινοχοον επι την αρχην αυτου και εδωκεν το ποτηριον εις την χειρα φαραω21 the chief cup-bearer by restoring him to his cup-bearing, so that he again handed Pharaoh his cup;
τον δε αρχισιτοποιον εκρεμασεν καθα συνεκρινεν αυτοις ιωσηφ22 and by hanging the chief baker, as Joseph had explained to them.
ουκ εμνησθη δε ο αρχιοινοχοος του ιωσηφ αλλα επελαθετο αυτου23 But the chief cup-bearer did not remember Joseph; he had forgotten him.
