Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast. | 1 For the director. Do not destroy. A miktam of David, when he fled from Saul into a cave. |
I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me. | 2 Have mercy on me, God, have mercy on me. In you I seek shelter. In the shadow of your wings I seek shelter till harm pass by. |
He shall send from heaven, and save from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth. | 3 I call to God Most High, to God who provides for me. |
My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. | 4 May God send help from heaven to save me, shame those who trample upon me. May God send fidelity and love. Selah |
Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth. | 5 I must lie down in the midst of lions hungry for human prey. Their teeth are spears and arrows; their tongue, a sharpened sword. |
They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah. | 6 Show yourself over the heavens, God; may your glory appear above all the earth. |
My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. | 7 They have set a trap for my feet; my soul is bowed down; They have dug a pit before me. May they fall into it themselves! Selah |
Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. | 8 My heart is steadfast, God, my heart is steadfast. I will sing and chant praise. |
I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations. | 9 Awake, my soul; awake, lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn. |
For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. | 10 I will praise you among the peoples, Lord; I will chant your praise among the nations. |
Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth. | 11 For your love towers to the heavens; your faithfulness, to the skies. |
Show yourself over the heavens, God; may your glory appear above all the earth. |
