1 After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.	1 Ma dopo queste cose aperse Iob la bocca sua, e maledisse lo die suo,
2 And Job spake, and said,	2 e disse:
3 Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.	3 Perisca lo dì nel quale io nacqui, e la notte nella quale detto è: conceputo è l' uomo.
4 Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.	4 Quello dì si riverta in tenebre; non lo ricerchi lo Signore di sopra, (e non sia in memoria) e non risplenda di lume.
5 Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.	5 Iscurino in lui le tenebre, e l'ombra della morte; occupi lui la oscuritade, e sia involto d'amaritudine.
6 As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.	6 Quella notte lo tenebroso turbamento possegga; non sia computata nelli dì dell' anno, nè sia annumerata nelli mesi.
7 Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.	7 Sia quella notte sola, nè degna di lode.
8 Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.	8 Maledicano lei coloro che maledicono lo dì, i quali sono apparecchiati di suscitare Leviatan (cioè il diavolo).
9 Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:	9 Sieno ottenebrate le stelle dalla sua oscurità; aspetti la luce, e non la vedino, nè lo nascimento. della levata aurora.
10 Because it shut not up the doors of my mother's womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.	10 Imperciò ch' ella non ha rinchiuso l'uscio del ventre che mi portò, e non tolse i mali dagli occhi miei.
11 Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?	11 Perchè non morii io nel ventre? perchè uscito del ventre non perii io incontanente?
12 Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?	12 Perchè ricevuto sopra le ginocchia? perchè lattato colle poppe?
13 For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,	13 E (se mi fossi morto) ora mi staria cheto, e nel mio sonno mi riposerei,
14 With kings and counsellers of the earth, which built desolate places for themselves;	14 colli re e colli consoli della terra, i quali edificano a loro le cose solitarie,
15 Or with princes that had gold, who filled their houses with silver:	15 ovvero colli principi che posseggono l'oro, e riempiono le case loro d' ariento;
16 Or as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light.	16 ovvero, sì come quelli che sono nati non al suo tempo (cioè dispersi) nascosto non saria quivi, ovvero sì come quelli che furono conceputi, e non videro luce.
17 There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest.	17 Ivi li malvagi sì cessarono da' loro gridi, e quivi si riposarono i stancati di fortezza.
18 There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor.	18 E di qui adietro vinti parimente senza molestia non esaudirono la voce dello importuno dimandatore.
19 The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.	19 Lo piccolo e il grande quivi sono, lo servo e lo libero dal signore suo.
20 Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul;	20 Perchè è data al misero luce, e la vita a coloro che nella amaritudine dell' anima sono?
21 Which long for death, but it cometh not; and dig for it more than for hid treasures;	21 I quali aspettano la morte, e non viene, sì come quelli che cavano lo tesoro.
22 Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?	22 E allegranosi molto, poi che abbino trovato lo sepolcro.
23 Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in?	23 All' uomo, al qual la via è nascosta, e halló intorniato Iddio di tenebre?
24 For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.	24 Innanzi ch' io mangi, sospiro; e sì come acque andante, così è lo pianto mio.
25 For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.	25 Perciò che la paura mia, ch' io temea, avvenuta a me; e quello che io dubitava, m'è incontrato.
26 I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.	26 Or non ho io dissimulato? Or non stetti io cheto? Or non mi riposai? Ed è venuta sopra di me la indignazione.
