1 And it came to pass on the second first sabbath, that as he went through the corn fields, his disciples plucked the ears, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.	1 Or avvenne che nel sabato secondo primo, mentre passava per i seminati, i suoi discepoli coglievano delle spighe, e sgranandole colle mani, le mangiavano.
2 And some of the Pharisees said to them: Why do you that which is not lawful on the sabbath days?	2 Ma alcuni Farisei dissero loro: Perchè fate ciò che di sabato non è lecito fare?
3 And Jesus answering them, said: Have you not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was hungry, and they that were with him:	3 E rispondendo, Gesù a loro disse: Neppure avete letto quel che fece David, quando con tutti quelli che erano con lui ebbe fame?
4 How he went into the house of God, and took and ate the bread of proposition, and gave to them that were with him, which is not lawful to eat but only for the priests?	4 Come penetrò nella casa di Dio, prese i pani della proposizione e ne mangiò e ne diede a quanti erano con lui, sebbene di essi ai soli sacerdoti sia lecito cibarsi?
5 And he said to them: The Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.	5 Ed aggiungeva: Il Figliuolo dell'uomo è padrone anche del sabato.
6 And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue, and taught. And there was a man, whose right hand was withered.	6 E un altro sabato avvenne che egli entrò nella sinagoga ad insegnare. E c'era un uomo che aveva la mano dbstra secca.
7 And the scribes and Pharisees watched if he would heal on the sabbath; that they might find an accusation against him.	7 E gli Scribi ed i Farisei io tenevano d'occhio per vedere se curasse di sabato e trovare così di che accusarlo.
8 But he knew their thoughts; and said to the man who had the withered hand: Arise, and stand forth in the midst. And rising he stood forth.	8 Ma egli conosceva i loro pensieri, e disse all'uomo dalla mano secca: Alzati, e sta ritto qua in mezzo. E quello s'alzò e ste ritto.
9 Then Jesus said to them: I ask you, if it be lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil; to save life, or to destroy?	9 E Gesù disse loro: Vi domando se di sabato sia lecito fare del bene o del male, salvare la vita ad un uomo o levargliela.
10 And looking round about on them all, he said to the man: Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth: and his hand was restored.	10 Poi, guardatili tutti in giro, disse all'uomo: Stendi la tua mano. E la stese e gli tornò sana.
11 And they were filled with madness; and they talked one with another, what they might do to Jesus.	11 Ma essi montarono sulle furie e discorrevano tra loro sul da farsi riguardo a Gesù.
12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and he passed the whole night in the prayer of God.	12 Or in quei giorni avvenne ch'egli andò su un monte a pregare, e passava l'intera notte in orazione a Dio.
13 And when day was come, he called unto him his disciples; and he chose twelve of them (whom also he named apostles):	13 Fattosi poi giorno, chiamò i suoi discepoli e ne scelse dodici che nominò Apostoli.
14 Simon, whom he surnamed Peter, and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,	14 Simone, cui pose il nome di Pietro, e Andrea, di lui fratello, Giacomo e Giovanni, Filippo e Bartolomeo,
15 Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon who is called Zelotes,	15 Matteo, Tommaso, Giacomo d'Alfeo, Simone detto Zelote,
16 And Jude, the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, who was the traitor.	16 e Giuda di Giacomo e Giuda Iscariote che fu traditore.
17 And coming down with them, he stood in a plain place, and the company of his disciples, and a very great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and the sea coast both of Tyre and Sidon,	17 E sceso con essi, si fermò in un ripiano colla folla dei suoi discepoli e gran quantità di popolo che da tutta la Giudea e da Gerusalemme e dalle marine di Tiro e di Sidone
18 Who were come to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases. And they that were troubled with unclean spirits, were cured.	18 era venuto ad ascoltarlo e per essere guarito dalle proprie infermità. E quelli che eran vessati da spiriti immondi ne eran guariti;
19 And all the multitude sought to touch him, for virtue went out from him, and healed all.	19 e tutto d popolo cercava di toccarlo, perchè da lui scaturiva una potenza che guariva tutti.
20 And he, lifting up his eyes on his disciples, said: Blessed are ye poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.	20 Ed egli, alzati gli occhi verso i suoi discepoli, diceva: Beati voi, poveri, perchè vostro è il regno di Dio.
21 Blessed are ye that hunger now: for you shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for you shall laugh.	21 Beati voi che ora avete fame, perchè sarete saziati. Beati voi che ora piangete, perchè riderete.
22 Blessed shall you be when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.	22 Beati voi quando gli uomini vi odieranno e sbandiranno e vitupereranno, e ripudieranno il vostro nome come abominevoli, per cagion del Figlio dell'uomo.
23 Be glad in that day and rejoice; for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For according to these things did their fathers to the prophets.	23 Rallegratevi in quel giorno ed esultate; ecco, la vostra mercede è grande nel cielo: così pure i padri di costoro facevano ai profeti.
24 But woe to you that are rich: for you have your consolation.	24 Ma guai a voi, ricchi, perchè avete già la vostra consolazione.
25 Woe to you that are filled: for you shall hunger. Woe to you that now laugh: for you shall mourn and weep.	25 Guai a voi, satolli, perchè soffrirete la fame. Guai a voi, che or ridete, perchè farete lutto e piangerete.
26 Woe to you when men shall bless you: for according to these things did their fathers to the false prophets.	26 Guai a voi, quando gli uomini vi applaudiranno, chè i padri di costoro facevano così coi falsi profeti.
27 But I say to you that hear: Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you.	27 Ma io dico a voi che mi ascoltate: amate i vostri nemici, fate del bene a quelli che vi odiano.
28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them that calumniate you.	28 Benedite quelli che vi maledicono e pregate per i vostri calunniatori.
29 And to him that striketh thee on the one cheek, offer also the other. And him that taketh away from thee thy cloak, forbid not to take thy coat also.	29 A chi ti dà uno schiaffo presenta anche l'altra guancia. E a chi ti porta via il mantello non vietargli di prenderti anche la tunica.
30 Give to every one that asketh thee, and of him that taketh away thy goods, ask them not again.	30 Dà a chi ti chiede e non domandare il tuo a chi te lo toglie.
31 And as you would that men should do to you, do you also to them in like manner.	31 E come volete che gli uomini facciano a voi, fate voi pure a loro.
32 And if you love them that love you, what thanks are to you? for sinners also love those that love them.	32 E se amate quelli che vi amano, qual merito ne avete? Anche i peccatori amano chi li ama.
33 And if you do good to them who do good to you, what thanks are to you? for sinners also do this.	33 E se fato del bene a chi ve lo fa, qual merito ne avete? Anche i peccatori fanno altrettanto.
34 And if you lend to them of whom you hope to receive, what thanks are to you? for sinners also lend to sinners, for to receive as much.	34 E se prestate a coloro dai quali sperate di ricevere, qual merito ne avete? Anche i peccatori prestano ai peccatori per ricevere altrettanto.
35 But love ye your enemies: do good, and lend, hoping for nothing thereby: and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the sons of the Highest; for he is kind to the unthankful, and to the evil.	35 Amate pertanto i vostri nemici, fate del bene, prestate senza speranza di profitto, e grande sarà il vostro premio, e sarete figli dell'Altissimo, che è benigno anche cogli ingrati ed i cattivi.
36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.	36 Siate adunque misericordiosi, come anche il vostro Padre è misericordioso.
37 Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you shall be forgiven.	37 Non giudicate e non sarete giudicati, non condannate e non sarete condannati. Perdonate e vi sarà perdonato.
38 Give, and it shall be given to you: good measure and pressed down and shaken together and running over shall they give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you shall mete withal, it shall be measured to you again.	38 Date e vi sarà dato: vi sarà versato in seno una misura buona, pigiata, scossa e straboccante; perchè sarà a voi rimisurato colla misura colla quale avrete misurato.
39 And he spoke also to them a similitude: Can the blind lead the blind? do they not both fall into the ditch?	39 Inoltre, disse loro un paragone: Può mai un cieco guidare un altro cieco? Non cadranno tutti e due in una fossa?
40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one shall be perfect, if he be as his master.	40 Non v'è discepolo da più del maestro, e uno sarà perfetto se arriva ad essere come il suo maestro.
41 And why seest thou the mote in thy brother's eye: but the beam that is in thy own eye thou considerest not?	41 Or perchè guardi la pagliuzza nell'occhio del tuo fratello e non badi alla trave che hai nel tuo occhio?
42 Or how canst thou say to thy brother: Brother, let me pull the mote out of thy eye, when thou thyself seest not the beam in thy own eye? Hypocrite, cast first the beam out of thy own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to take out the mote from thy brother's eye.	42 E come puoi dire ai fratello tuo: Lascia, fratello, ch'io ti levi la pagliuzza dall'occhio, se non vedi la trave che hai nel tuo occhio? Ipocrita, cava prima la trave dal l'occhio tuo, e allora guarderai di cavare la pagliuzza dall'occhio del tuo fratello.
43 For there is no good tree that bringeth forth evil fruit; nor an evil tree that bringeth forth good fruit.	43 Non vi è certamente albero buono che faccia frutti cattivi, nè albero cattivo che faccia frutti buoni.
44 For every tree is known by its fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns; nor from a bramble bush do they gather the grape.	44 Perchè ogni albero si conosce dal suo frutto. Senza dubbio, dalle spine non si colgono dei fichi, nè dal pruno si vendemmia l'uva.
45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth that which is evil. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.	45 L'uomo giusto dal buon tesoro del suo cuore cava fuori il bene, e il perverso dal malvagio nascondiglio del suo cuore mette fuori del male, poiché dal pieno del cuore parla la bocca.
46 And why call you me, Lord, Lord; and do not the things which I say?	46 Or perchè mi chiamate: Signore, Signore, e non fate quel che vi dico?
47 Every one that cometh to me, and heareth my words, and doth them, I will shew you to whom he is like.	47 Vi mostrerò a chi somiglia chi viene a me, ascolta le mie parole e le mette in pratica.
48 He is like to a man building a house, who digged deep, and laid the foundation upon a rock. And when a flood came, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and it could not shake it; for it was founded on a rock.	48 Somiglia ad un uomo, il quale, fabbricando una casa, scavò profondo e pose i fondamenti sul masso: e, venuta la piena, la fiumana, investì quella casa, ma non potè farla crollare, perchè era fondata sul masso.
49 But he that heareth, and doth not, is like to a man building his house upon the earth without a foundation: against which the stream beat vehemently, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.	49 Ma chi ascolta e non mette in pratica è simile ad un uomo che fabbricò la casa sulla terra senza fondamento, la quale, appena urtata dalla fiumana, crollò e ne fu grande la rovina.
