1 He is come up that shall destroy before thy face, that shall keep the siege: watch the way, fortify thy loins, strengthen thy power exceedingly.	1 Egli sale (a cavallo) colui che disperga dinanz? da te, il quale guardi l'assedio; contempla la via, conforta i lombi, fortifica molto la virtù.
2 For the Lord hath rendered the pride of Jacob, as the pride of Israel: because the spoilers have laid them waste, and have marred their vine branches.	2 Però che, come il Signore ha vendicata la superbia usata contro a Iacob, così egli vendicherà la superbia usata contro a Israel; però che gli guastatori gli hanno dissipati, e hanno corrotto li rami delle vigne loro.
3 The shield of his mighty men is like fire, the men of the army are clad in scarlet, the reins of the chariot are flaming in the day of his preparation, and the drivers are stupefied.	3 Lo scudo de' suoi forti sì è affocato; gli uomini dello esèrcito suo hanno le armi rosse; le redini del carro sono di fuoco nel dì dello apparecchiamento suo; gli agitatori (e gli stimolatori dei cavalli delle carra sue) sono addormentati.
4 They are in confusion in the ways, the chariots jostle one against another in the streets: their looks are like torches, like lightning running to and fro.	4 Ne' viaggi si sono conturbati; le carra (tue) si guastarono nelle piazze; l'aspetto loro sì è quasi come di lampade, e quasi folgori discorrenti.
5 He will muster up his valiant men, they shall stumble in their march: they shall quickly get upon the walls thereof: and a covering shall be prepared.	5 Ricorderassi de' forti suoi, e cadranno nei viaggi loro; velocemente saliranno in su le mura sue, e sarà apparecchiato (e posto) il paviglione.
6 The gates of the rivers are opened, and the temple is thrown down to the ground.	6 Le porte de' fiumi sono aperte; il tempio è disfatto insino a terra.
7 And the soldier is led away captive: and her bondwomen were led away mourning as doves, murmuring in their hearts.	7 Il cavaliere é menato prigione; e l' ancille sue saranno menate piangendo come le colombe, mormorando nelli cuori loro.
8 And as for Ninive, her waters are like a great pool, but the men flee away. They cry: Stand, stand, but there is none that will return back.	8 E le acque di Ninive saranno come piscine d'acque loro; ma loro sì fuggirono; state, [state], e non è chi ritorni.
9 Take ye the spoil of the silver, take the spoil of the gold: for there is no end of the riches of all the precious furniture.	9 Rubate l'ariento e l'oro; e non è fine delle ricchezze di tutte le vasa desiderabili.
10 She is destroyed, and rent, and torn: the heart melteth, and the knees fail, and all the loins lose their strength: and the faces of them all are as the blackness of a kettle.	10 Dissipata e tagliata e dilacerata è (Ninive); il cuore è triste e dolente, e le ginocchia (cioè le coscie) dissolute (e tremanti), e mancamento in tutte le reni; e le faccie di tutti gli uomini sono nere come la pentola.
11 Where is now the dwelling of the lions, and the feeding place of the young lions, to which the lion went, to enter in thither, the young lion, and there was none to make them afraid?	11 Dove è l'abitacolo de' leoni, e la pastura de' lioncini, alla quale andò il leone acciò che v' entrasse il lioncino, e non è chi lo spaurisca?
12 The lion caught enough for his whelps, and killed for his lionesses: and he filled his holes with prey, and his den with rapine.	12 Il lione prese sufficientemente a' suoi lioncini, e uccise alle sue lionesse; ed empiette di preda le spelonche sue, e lo letto suo di rapina.
13 Behold I come against thee, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will burn thy chariots even to smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey out of the land, and the voice of thy messengers shall be heard no more.	13 Ecco ch' io vengo a te, dice il Signore Iddio delli esèrciti; e arderò insino al fumo le carra tue, e ucciderò di coltello li tuoi lioncini; ed esterminerò di terra la preda tua, e non s'udirà più la voce de' messaggi tuoi.
