1 She prospered their works in the hands of the holy prophet.	1 Dirizzò l'opere loro in mano del santo profeta.
2 They went through wildernesses that were not inhabited, and in desert places they pitched their tents.	2 (Moisè con li Israeliti) feciono il cammino per li deserti che non si abitavano; e feciono li tabernacoli nelli luoghi deserti.
3 They stood against their enemies, and revenged themselves of their adversaries.	3 Stettono contro alli avversarii, e vendicaronsi delli nimici (e conobbero le tue maraviglie).
4 They were thirsty, and they called upon thee, and water was given them out of the high rock, and a refreshment of their thirst out of the hard stone.	4 Ebbeno sete, e invocarono te, e fue data loro l'acqua della altissima pietra; e riposo della sete fue dato loro del duro sasso.
5 For by what things their enemies were punished, when their drink failed them, while the children of Israel abounded therewith and rejoiced:	5 E per quelle pene che patirono li loro nimici del difetto del bere, abbondando in loro le acque, li figliuoli d' Israel s' allegrarono.
6 By the same things they in their need were benefited.	6 Per queste cose, conciosia che a coloro mancassono (l'acque), successe bene alli figliuoli d' Israel.
7 For instead of a fountain of an ever running river, thou gavest human blood to the unjust.	7 Alli ingiusti tu dèsti, in luogo di fontana di sempiterno fiume, il sangue umano.
8 And whilst they were diminished for a manifest reproof of their murdering the infants, thou gavest to thine abundant water unlooked for:	8 Li quali, essendo minuiti per la traduzione delli fanciulli uccisi (per Faraone in Egitto, in recompensazione) dèsti loro acqua abbondante non sperata,
9 Shewing by the thirst that was then, how thou didst exalt thine, and didst kill their adversaries.	9 mostrando per la sete che venne loro, tu esaltavi li tuoi, e annegavi li avversarii.
10 For when they were tried, and chastised with mercy, they knew how the wicked were judged with wrath and tormented.	10 Quando furono tentati, certo con misericordia ricevettono ammaestramento, e seppono come li malvagi, giudicati con ira, sostennono tormenti.
11 For thou didst admonish and try them as a father: but the others, as a severe king, thou didst examine and condemn.	11 Tu provasti costoro, ammonendoli come padre; ma coloro, sì come duro re esaminandoli, li condannasti.
12 For whether absent or present, they were tormented alike.	12 Li assenti e li presenti somigliantemente erano tormentati.
13 For a double affliction came upon them, and a groaning for the remembrance of things past.	13 Doppio rincrescimento teneva coloro, il presente pianto con la memoria delli passati mali.
14 For when they heard that by their punishments the others were benefited, they remembered the Lord, wondering at the end of what was come to pass.	14 Conciò fusse cosa che udissono che per le sue pene loro erano bene trattati, ricordaronsi di Dio, maravigliandosi nella fine dello uscimento.
15 For whom they scorned before, when he was thrown out at the time of his being wickedly exposed to perish, him they admired in the end, when they saw the event: their thirsting being unlike to that of the just.	15 E maravigliaronsi di colui, nella fine di quello che avvenne, lo quale (abbassarono e atterrarono) egli avevano ischeruito con malvagia imposta, non facendo così alli giusti.
16 But for the foolish devices of their iniquity, because some being deceived worshipped dumb serpents and worthless beasts, thou didst send upon them a multitude of dumb beasts for vengeance.	16 Ma per li insensati pensieri furono le loro iniquitadi, e alcuni erranti adorarono molti serpenti e superchie bestie; mandasti sopra loro moltitudine di molti animali in vendetta,
17 That they might know that by what things a man sinneth, by the same also he is tormented.	17 acciò che loro sapessono che per quelle cose per le quali alcuno peccoe, e per quelle è tormentato.
18 For thy almighty hand, which made the world of matter without form, was not unable to send upon them a multitude of bears, or fierce lions,	18 Non era impossibile alla onnipotente mano tua, la quale creò il mondo di materia invisa, mandare a coloro moltitudine d'orsi, o arditi leoni,
19 Or unknown beasts of a new kind, full of rage: either breathing out a fiery vapour, or sending forth a stinking smoke, or shooting horrible sparks out of their eyes:	19 o bestie di nuova generazione piene d' ira, e bestie incognite, ovvero che gittassono fiamma di fuoco, o portanti fumo di puzza, o che gittassono faville orribili per li occhi;
20 Whereof not only the hurt might be able to destroy them, but also the very sight might kill them through fear.	20 delle quali la percossa (di queste) non solamente li potea dilacerare, ma ancora (col) la pagura dello aspetto li potea uccidere.
21 Yea and without these, they might have been slain with one blast, persecuted by their own deeds, and scattered by the breath of thy power: but thou hast ordered all things in measure, and number, and weight.	21 Però che, eziandio sanza queste cose, da uno spirito di vento poteano essere morti, ricevendo persecuzione delli loro fatti stessi, e dispersi per lo spirito della tua potenza; ma tu ordinasti tutte le cose in misura e in numero e in peso.
22 For great power always belonged to thee alone: and who shall resist the strength of thy arm?	22 Molta potenza a te solo era dirittamente sempre; e chi resisterae alla virtude del braccio tuo?
23 For the whole world before thee is as the least grain of the balance, and as a drop of the morning dew, that falleth down upon the earth:	23 Però che sì come uno punto di stadera, così è dinanzi da te il cerchio delle terre, e sì come la gocciola della rugiada mattutinale, la quale discende in terra.
24 But thou hast mercy upon all, because thou canst do all things, and overlookest the sins of men for the sake of repentance.	24 E tu hai misericordia di tutti, però che tu puoi tutto, e non riguardi li peccati degli uomini li quali si sono pentiti.
25 For thou lovest all things that are, and hatest none of the things which thou hast made: for thou didst not appoint, or make any thing hating it.	25 Tu ami tutte le cose che tu facesti; nè hai in odio le cose che tu ordinasti e facesti.
26 And how could any thing endure, if thou wouldst not? or be preserved, if not called by thee.	26 Or come potrebbe [una cosa] durare, quando tu non volessi? or quello che non fosse da te chiamato, come si conserverebbe?
27 But thou sparest all: because they are thine, O Lord, who lovest souls.	27 Tu (Signore) perdoni a tutti; però che sono tuoi, Signore, il quale ami le anime.
