DOUAI-RHEIMSNEW AMERICAN BIBLE
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:1 The LORD said to Moses,
Behold, I have called by name Beseleel the son of Uri the son of Hur of the tribe of Juda,2 "See, I have chosen Bezalel, son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah,
And I have filled him with the spirit of God, with wisdom and understanding, and knowledge in all manner of work.3 and I have filled him with a divine spirit of skill and understanding and knowledge in every craft:
To devise whatsoever may be artificially made of gold, and silver, and brass,4 in the production of embroidery, in making things of gold, silver or bronze,
Of marble, and precious stones, and variety of wood.5 in cutting and mounting precious stones, in carving wood, and in every craft.
And I have given him for his companion Ooliab the son of Achisamech of the tribe of Dan. And I have put wisdom in the heart of every skilful man, that they may make all things which I have commanded thee,6 As his assistant I have appointed Oholiab, son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. I have also endowed all the experts with the necessary skill to make all the things I have ordered you to make:
The tabernacle of the covenant, and the ark of the testimony, and the propitiatory that is over it, and all the vessels of the tabernacle,7 the meeting tent, the ark of the commandments with the propitiatory on top of it, all the furnishings of the tent,
And the table and the vessels thereof, the most pure candlestick with the vessels thereof, and the altars of incense,8 the table with its appurtenances, the pure gold lampstand with all its appurtenances, the altar of incense,
And of holocaust, and all their vessels, the laver with its foot,9 the altar of holocausts with all its appurtenances, the laver with its base,
The holy vestments in the ministry for Aaron the priest, and for his sons, that they may execute their office about the sacred things:10 the service cloths, the sacred vestments for Aaron the priest, the vestments for his sons in their ministry,
The oil of unction, and the incense of spices in the sanctuary, all things which I have commanded thee, shall they make.11 the anointing oil, and the fragrant incense for the sanctuary. All these things they shall make just as I have commanded you."
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:12 The LORD said to Moses,
Speak to the children of Israel, and thou shalt say to them: See that thou keep my sabbath: because it is a sign between me and you in your generations: that you may know that I am the Lord, who sanctify you.13 "You must also tell the Israelites: Take care to keep my sabbaths, for that is to be the token between you and me throughout the generations, to show that it is I, the LORD, who make you holy.
Keep you my sabbath: for it is holy unto you: he that shall profane it, shall be put to death: he that shall do my work in it, his soul shall perish out of the midst of his people.14 Therefore, you must keep the sabbath as something sacred. Whoever desecrates it shall be put to death. If anyone does work on that day, he must be rooted out of his people.
Six days shall you do work: in the seventh day is the sabbath, the rest holy to the Lord. Every one that shall do any work on this day, shall die.15 Six days there are for doing work, but the seventh day is the sabbath of complete rest, sacred to the LORD. Anyone who does work on the sabbath day shall be put to death.
Let the children of Israel keep the sabbath, and celebrate it in their generations. It is an everlasting covenant16 So shall the Israelites observe the sabbath, keeping it throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.
Between me and the children of Israel, and a perpetual sign. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and in the seventh he ceased from work.17 Between me and the Israelites it is to be an everlasting token; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, but on the seventh day he rested at his ease."
And the Lord, when he had ended these words in mount Sinai, gave to Moses two stone tables of testimony, written with the finger of God.18 When the LORD had finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the commandments, the stone tablets inscribed by God's own finger.
