2 He heard him by a vision in the night calling him, and saying to him: Jacob, Jacob. And he answered him: Lo, here I am.	2 Da sprach Gott in einer nächtlichen Vision zu Israel: Jakob! Jakob! Hier bin ich!, antwortete er.
3 God said to him: I am the most mighty God of thy father: fear not, go down into Egypt, for I will make a great nation of thee there.	3 Gott sprach: Ich bin Gott, der Gott deines Vaters. Fürchte dich nicht, nach Ägypten hinabzuziehen; denn zu einem großen Volk mache ich dich dort.
4 I will go down with thee thither, and will bring thee back again from thence: Joseph also shall put his hands upon thy eyes.	4 Ich selbst ziehe mit dir hinunter nach Ägypten und ich führe dich auch selbst wieder herauf. Josef wird dir die Augen zudrücken.
5 And Jacob rose up from the well of the oath: and his sons took him up, with their children and wives in the wagons, which Pharao had sent to carry the old man,	5 Jakob brach von Beerscheba auf. Die Söhne Israels hoben ihren Vater Jakob, ihre Kinder und ihre Frauen auf die Wagen, die der Pharao geschickt hatte, um ihn zu holen.

27 And the sons of Joseph, that were born to him in the land of Egypt, two souls. All the souls of the house of Jacob, that entered into Egypt, were seventy.	27 Dazu kommen die Söhne Josefs, die ihm in Ägypten geboren worden waren, zwei Personen. Insgesamt waren vom Haus Jakob siebzig Personen nach Ägypten gekommen.
28 And he sent Juda before him to Joseph, to tell him; and that he should meet him in Gessen.	28 Jakob schickte Juda voraus zu Josef, um ihn zu sich nach Goschen zu bestellen. So kamen sie ins Gebiet von Goschen.
29 And when he was come thither, Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet his father, in the same place: and seeing him, he fell upon his neck, and embracing him wept.	29 Josef ließ seinen Wagen anschirren und zog seinem Vater Israel nach Goschen entgegen. Als er ihn sah, fiel er ihm um den Hals und weinte lange.
30 And the father said to Joseph: Now shall I die with joy, because I have seen thy face, and leave thee alive.	30 Israel sagte zu Josef: Jetzt will ich gern sterben, nachdem ich dein Angesicht wieder sehen durfte und weiß, dass du noch am Leben bist.
31 And Joseph said to his brethren, and to all his father's house: I will go up, and will tell Pharao, and will say to him: My brethren and my father's house, that were in the land of Chanaan, are come to me:	31 Josef sagte dann zu seinen Brüdern und zum ganzen Haus seines Vaters: Ich will hingehen, will den Pharao benachrichtigen und ihm sagen: Meine Brüder und alle vom Haus meines Vaters, die in Kanaan lebten, sind zu mir gekommen.
32 And the men are shepherds, and their occupation is to feed cattle: their flocks and herds, and all they have, they have brought with them.	32 Die Männer sind Viehhirten, ja, Viehzüchter sind sie. Ihre Schafe, Ziegen und Rinder und alles, was ihnen gehört, haben sie mitgebracht.
33 And when he shall call you, and shall say: What is your occupation?	33 Der Pharao wird euch rufen lassen und euch fragen, womit ihr euch beschäftigt.
34 You shall answer: We thy servants are shepherds, from our infancy until now, both we and our fathers. And this you shall say, that you may dwell in the land of Gessen, because the Egyptians have all shepherds in abomination.	34 Dann sagt: Deine Knechte sind von Jugend an bis jetzt Viehzüchter gewesen, wir waren es und unsere Väter waren es auch schon. Dann werdet ihr euch in Goschen niederlassen dürfen; denn die Ägypter haben gegen alle Viehhirten eine große Abneigung.
