Seconda lettera di Giovanni 1

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 L’ANZIANO alla signora eletta, ed ai suoi figliuoli, i quali io amo in verità e non io solo, ma ancora tutti quelli che hanno conosciuta la verità;	1 From the Elder: my greetings to the Lady, the chosen one, and to her children, whom I love in truth --and I am not the only one, for so do al who have come to know the Truth -- and I am not the only one, for so sodo al who have come to know the Truth-
2 per la verità che dimora in noi, e sarà con noi in eterno.	2 because of the truth that remains in us and wil be with us for ever.
3 Grazia, misericordia, e pace, da Dio Padre, e dal Signor Gesù Cristo, Figliuol del Padre, sia con voi, in verità, e carità.	3 In our life of truth and love, we shal have grace, faithful love and peace from God the Father and fromJesus Christ, the Son of the Father.
4 IO mi son grandemente rallegrato che ho trovato de’ tuoi figliuoli che camminano in verità, secondo che ne abbiam ricevuto il comandamento dal Padre	4 It has given me great joy to find that children of yours have been living the life of truth as we werecommanded by the Father.
5 Ed ora io ti prego, signora, non come scrivendoti un comandamento nuovo, ma quello che abbiamo avuto dal principio, che amiamo gli uni gli altri.	5 And now I am asking you -- dear lady, not as though I were writing you a new commandment, but onlythe one which we have had from the beginning -- that we should love one another.
6 E questa è la carità, che camminiamo secondo i comandamenti d’esso. Quest’è il comandamento, siccome avete udito dal principio, che camminiate in quella	6 To love is to live according to his commandments: this is the commandment which you have heardsince the beginning, to live a life of love.
7 Poichè sono entrati nel mondo molti seduttori, i quali non confessano Gesù Cristo esser venuto in carne; un tale è il seduttore e l’anticristo.	7 There are many deceivers at large in the world, refusing to acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming inhuman nature. They are the Deceiver; they are the Antichrist.
8 Prendetevi guardia, acciocchè non perdiamo le buone opere, che abbiamo operate; anzi riceviamo pieno premio.	8 Watch yourselves, or all our work will be lost and you wil forfeit your full reward.
9 Chiunque si rivolta, e non dimora nella dottrina di Cristo, non ha Iddio; chi dimora nella dottrina di Cristo ha e il Padre, e il Figliuolo	9 If anybody does not remain in the teaching of Christ but goes beyond it, he does not have God with him:only those who remain in what he taught can have the Father and the Son with them.
10 Se alcuno viene a voi, e non reca questa dottrina, non lo ricevete in casa, e non salutatelo.	10 If anyone comes to you bringing a different doctrine, you must not receive him into your house or evengive him a greeting.
11 Perciocchè, chi lo saluta partecipa le malvage opere d’esso	11 Whoever greets him has a share in his wicked activities.
12 Benchè io avessi molte cose da scrivervi, pur non ho voluto farlo per carta, e per inchiostro; ma spero di venire a voi, e parlarvi a bocca; acciocchè la vostra allegrezza sia compiuta.	12 There are several things I have to tell you, but I have thought it best not to trust them to paper and ink.I hope instead to visit you and talk to you in person, so that our joy may be complete.
13 I figliuoli della tua sorella eletta ti salutano. Amen	13 Greetings to you from the children of your sister, the chosen one.
