1 NELL’anno che Tartan, mandato da Sargon, re degli Assiri, venne contro ad Asdod, e la combattè, e la prese;	1 In the year in which Tharthan entered into Ashdod, when Sargon, the king of the Assyrians, had sent him, and when he had fought against Ashdod and had captured it,
2 in quel tempo il Signore parlò per Isaia, figliuolo di Amos, dicendo: Va’, e sciogli il sacco d’in su i tuoi lombi, e tratti le scarpe da’ piedi. Ed egli fece così, camminando nudo e scalzo.	2 in that same time, the Lord spoke by the hand of Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saying: “Go forth, and remove the sackcloth from your waist, and take your shoes from your feet.” And he did so, going out naked and barefoot.
3 E il Signore disse: Siccome Isaia, mio servitore, è camminato nudo e scalzo; il che è un segno, e prodigio di tre anni, sopra l’Egitto, e sopra l’Etiopia;	3 And the Lord said: Just as my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot, as a sign and as a portent of three years over Egypt and over Ethiopia,
4 così il re di Assiria ne menerà gli Egizi prigioni, e gli Etiopi in cattività; fanciulli, e vecchi, nudi e scalzi, e con le natiche scoperte, per vituperio all’Egitto.	4 so also will the king of the Assyrians force the captivity of Egypt, and the transmigration of Ethiopia: young and old, naked and barefoot, with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.
5 E saranno spaventati e confusi, per l’Etiopia, alla quale riguardavano; e per l’Egitto, ch’era la lor gloria.	5 And they will be afraid and confounded over Ethiopia, their hope, and Egypt, their glory.
6 Ed in quel giorno gli abitatori di questo paese deserto diranno: Ecco, così è avvenuto a colui, a cui noi riguardavamo, dove noi eravamo fuggiti per soccorso, per esser liberati dal re degli Assiri; e come scamperemmo noi? Il carico del deserto del mare	6 And in that day, the inhabitants of a certain island will say: “Behold, this was our hope, we fled to them for help, to free us from the face of the king of the Assyrians. And now, how will we be able to escape?”
