DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Salmo di Davide, dato al capo de’ Musici, in su Nehilot PORGI l’orecchio alle mie parole, o Signore; Intendi la mia meditazione.	1 [For the choirmaster For flutes Psalm Of David] Give ear to my words, Yahweh, spare a thought for mysighing.
2 Re mio, e Dio mio, attendi alla voce del mio grido; Perciocchè io t’indirizzo la mia orazione.	2 Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God! To you I pray,
3 Signore, ascolta da mattina la mia voce; Da mattina io ti spiego i miei desii, e sto aspettando.	3 Yahweh. At daybreak you hear my voice; at daybreak I lay my case before you and fix my eyes on you.
4 Perciocchè tu non sei un Dio che prenda piacere nell’empietà; Il malvagio non può dimorar teco.	4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil, no sinner can be your guest.
5 Gl’insensati non possono comparir davanti agli occhi tuoi; Tu odii tutti gli operatori d’iniquità.	5 Boasters cannot stand their ground under your gaze. You hate evil-doers,
6 Tu farai perire tutti quelli che parlano con menzogna; Il Signore abbomina l’uomo di sangue e di frode	6 liars you destroy; the violent and deceitful Yahweh detests.
7 Ma io, per la grandezza della tua benignità, entrerò nella tua Casa, E adorerò verso il Tempio della tua santità, nel tuo timore.	7 But, so great is your faithful love, I may come into your house, and before your holy temple bow down inreverence of you.
8 Signore, guidami per la tua giustizia, per cagion de’ miei insidiatori; Addirizza davanti a me la tua via.	8 In your saving justice, Yahweh, lead me, because of those who lie in wait for me; make your way plainbefore me.
9 Perciocchè nella bocca loro non v’è dirittura alcuna; L’interior loro non è altro che malizie; La lor gola è un sepolcro aperto, Lusingano colla lor lingua.	9 Not a word from their lips can be trusted, through and through they are destruction, their throats arewide -- open graves, their tongues seductive.
10 Condannali, o Dio; Scadano da’ lor consigli; Scacciali per la moltitudine de’ lor misfatti; Perciocchè si son ribellati contro a te.	10 Lay the guilt on them, God, make their intrigues their own downfal ; for their countless offences, thrustthem from you, since they have rebel ed against you.
11 E rallegrinsi tutti quelli che si confidano in te, E cantino in eterno, e sii lor protettore; E festeggino in te Quelli che amano il tuo Nome.	11 But joy for al who take refuge in you, endless songs of gladness! You shelter them, they rejoice inyou, those who love your name.
12 Perciocchè tu, Signore, benedirai il giusto; Tu l’intornierai di benevolenza, come d’uno scudo	12 It is you who bless the upright, Yahweh, you surround them with favour as with a shield.
