EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Lo que existía desde el principio, lo que hemos oído, lo que hemos visto con nuestros ojos, lo que hemos contemplado y lo que hemos tocado con nuestras manos acerca de la Palabra de Vida, es lo que les anunciamos.	1 What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we looked upon and touched with our hands concerns the Word of life--
2 Porque la Vida se hizo visible, y nosotros la vimos y somos testigos, y les anunciamos la Vida eterna, que existía junto al Padre y que se nos ha manifestado.	2 for the life was made visible; we have seen it and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was made visible to us--
3 Lo que hemos visto y oído, se lo anunciamos también a ustedes, para que vivan en comunión con nosotros. Y nuestra comunión es con el Padre y con su Hijo Jesucristo.	3 what we have seen and heard we proclaim now to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; for our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
4 Les escribimos esto para que nuestra alegría sea completa.	4 We are writing this so that our joy may be complete.
5 La noticia que hemos oído de él y que nosotros les anunciamos, es esta: Dios es luz, y en él no hay tinieblas.	5 Now this is the message that we have heard from him and proclaim to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all.
6 Si decimos que estamos en comunión con él y caminamos en las tinieblas, mentimos y no procedemos conforme a la verdad.	6 If we say, "We have fellowship with him," while we continue to walk in darkness, we lie and do not act in truth.
7 Pero si caminamos en la luz, como el mismo está en la luz, estamos en comunión unos con otros, y la sangre de su Hijo Jesús nos purifica de todo pecado.	7 But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of his Son Jesus cleanses us from all sin.
8 Si decimos que no tenemos pecado, nos engañamos a nosotros mismos y la verdad no está en nosotros.	8 If we say, "We are without sin," we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 Si confesamos nuestros pecados, él es fiel y justo para perdonarnos y purificarnos de toda maldad.	9 If we acknowledge our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from every wrongdoing.
10 Si decimos que no hemos pecado, lo hacemos pasar por mentiroso, y su palabra no está en nosotros.	10 If we say, "We have not sinned," we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
