EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Tengan cuidado de no practicar su justicia delante de los hombres para ser vistos por ellos: de lo contrario, no recibirán ninguna recompensa del Padre que está en el cielo.	1 'Be careful not to parade your uprightness in public to attract attention; otherwise you wil lose al rewardfrom your Father in heaven.
2 Por lo tanto, cuando des limosna, no lo vayas pregonando delante de ti, como hacen los hipócritas en las sinagogas y en las calles, para ser honrados por los hombres. Les aseguro que ellos ya tienen su recompensa.	2 So when you give alms, do not have it trumpeted before you; this is what the hypocrites do in thesynagogues and in the streets to win human admiration. In truth I tel you, they have had their reward.
3 Cuando tú des limosna, que tu mano izquierda ignore lo que hace la derecha,	3 But when you give alms, your left hand must not know what your right is doing;
4 para que tu limosna quede en secreto; y tu Padre, que ve en lo secreto, te recompensará.	4 your almsgiving must be secret, and your Father who sees al that is done in secret wil reward you.
5 Cuando ustedes oren, no hagan como los hipócritas: a ellos les gusta orar de pie en las sinagogas y en las esquinas de las calles, para ser vistos. Les aseguro que ellos ya tienen su recompensa.	5 'And when you pray, do not imitate the hypocrites: they love to say their prayers standing up in thesynagogues and at the street corners for people to see them. In truth I tel you, they have had their reward.
6 Tú, en cambio, cuando ores, retírate a tu habitación, cierra la puerta y ora a tu Padre que está en lo secreto; y tu Padre, que ve en lo secreto, te recompensará.	6 But when you pray, go to your private room, shut yourself in, and so pray to your Father who is in thatsecret place, and your Father who sees al that is done in secret wil reward you.
7 Cuando oren, no hablen mucho, como hacen los paganos: ellos creen que por mucho hablar serán escuchados.	7 'In your prayers do not babble as the gentiles do, for they think that by using many words they wil makethemselves heard.
8 No hagan como ellos, porque el Padre que está en el cielo sabe bien qué es lo que les hace falta, antes de que se lo pidan.	8 Do not be like them; your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
9 Ustedes oren de esta manera: Padre nuestro, que estás en el cielo, santificado sea tu Nombre,	9 So you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be held holy,
10 que venga tu Reino, que se haga tu voluntad en la tierra como en el cielo.	10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.
11 Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día.	11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 Perdona nuestras ofensas, como nosotros perdonamos a los que nos han ofendido.	12 And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven those who are in debt to us.
13 No nos dejes caer en la tentación, sino líbranos del mal.	13 And do not put us to the test, but save us from the Evil One.
14 Si perdonan sus faltas a los demás, el Padre que está en el cielo también los perdonará a ustedes.	14 'Yes, if you forgive others their failings, your heavenly Father wil forgive you yours;
15 Pero si no perdonan a los demás, tampoco el Padre los perdonará a ustedes.	15 but if you do not forgive others, your Father wil not forgive your failings either.
16 Cuando ustedes ayunen, no pongan cara triste, como hacen los hipócritas, que desfiguran su rostro para que se note que ayunan. Les aseguro que con eso, ya han recibido su recompensa.	16 'When you are fasting, do not put on a gloomy look as the hypocrites do: they go about lookingunsightly to let people know they are fasting. In truth I tel you, they have had their reward.
17 Tú, en cambio, cuando ayunes, perfuma tu cabeza y lava tu rostro,	17 But when you fast, put scent on your head and wash your face,
18 para que tu ayuno no sea conocido por los hombres, sino por tu Padre que está en lo secreto; y tu Padre, que ve en lo secreto, te recompensará.	18 so that no one will know you are fasting except your Father who sees al that is done in secret; andyour Father who sees al that is done in secret wil reward you.
19 No acumulen tesoros en la tierra, donde la polilla y la herrumbre los consumen, y los ladrones perforan las paredes y los roban.	19 'Do not store up treasures for yourselves on earth, where moth and woodworm destroy them andthieves can break in and steal.
20 Acumulen, en cambio, tesoros en el cielo, donde no hay polilla ni herrumbre que los consuma, ni ladrones que perforen y roben.	20 But store up treasures for yourselves in heaven, where neither moth nor woodworm destroys them andthieves cannot break in and steal.
21 Allí donde esté tu tesoro, estará también tu corazón.	21 For wherever your treasure is, there wil your heart be too.
22 La lámpara del cuerpo es el ojo. Si el ojo está sano, todo el cuerpo estará iluminado.	22 'The lamp of the body is the eye. It follows that if your eye is clear, your whole body will be fil ed withlight.
23 Pero si el ojo está enfermo, todo el cuerpo estará en tinieblas. Si la luz que hay en ti se oscurece, ¡cuánta oscuridad habrá!	23 But if your eye is diseased, your whole body will be darkness. If then, the light inside you is darkened,what darkness that wil be!
24 Nadie puede servir a dos señores, porque aborrecerá a uno y amará al otro, o bien, se interesará por el primero y menospreciará al segundo. No se puede servir a Dios y al Dinero.	24 'No one can be the slave of two masters: he will either hate the first and love the second, or beattached to the first and despise the second. You cannot be the slave both of God and of money.
25 Por eso les digo: No se inquieten por su vida, pensando qué van a comer, ni por su cuerpo, pensando con qué se van a vestir. ¿No vale acaso más la vida que la comida y el cuerpo más que el vestido?	25 'That is why I am tel ing you not to worry about your life and what you are to eat, nor about your bodyand what you are to wear. Surely life is more than food, and the body more than clothing!
26 Miren los pájaros del cielo: ellos no siembran ni cosechan, ni acumulan en graneros, y sin embargo, el Padre que está en el cielo los alimenta. ¿No valen ustedes acaso más que ellos?	26 Look at the birds in the sky. They do not sow or reap or gather into barns; yet your heavenly Fatherfeeds them. Are you not worth much more than they are?
27 ¿Quién de ustedes, por mucho que se inquiete, puede añadir un solo instante al tiempo de su vida?	27 Can any of you, however much you worry, add one single cubit to your span of life?
28 ¿Y por qué se inquietan por el vestido? Miren los lirios del campo, cómo van creciendo sin fatigarse ni tejer.	28 And why worry about clothing? Think of the flowers growing in the fields; they never have to work orspin;
29 Yo les aseguro que ni Salomón, en el esplendor de su gloria, se vistió como uno de ellos.	29 yet I assure you that not even Solomon in al his royal robes was clothed like one of these.
30 Si Dios viste así la hierba de los campos, que hoy existe y mañana será echada al fuego, ¡cuánto más hará por ustedes, hombres de poca fe!	30 Now if that is how God clothes the wild flowers growing in the field which are there today and throwninto the furnace tomorrow, wil he not much more look after you, you who have so little faith?
31 No se inquieten entonces, diciendo: «¿Qué comeremos, qué beberemos, o con qué nos vestiremos?».	31 So do not worry; do not say, "What are we to eat? What are we to drink? What are we to wear?"
32 Son los paganos los que van detrás de estas cosas. El Padre que está en el cielo sabe bien que ustedes las necesitan.	32 It is the gentiles who set their hearts on al these things. Your heavenly Father knows you need themal .
33 Busquen primero el Reino y su justicia, y todo lo demás se les dará por añadidura.	33 Set your hearts on his kingdom first, and on God's saving justice, and al these other things wil begiven you as wel .
34 No se inquieten por el día de mañana; el mañana se inquietará por sí mismo. A cada día le basta su aflicción.	34 So do not worry about tomorrow: tomorrow wil take care of itself. Each day has enough trouble of itsown.'
