Efesios 2

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Y a vosotros que estabais muertos en vuestros delitos y pecados,	1 And you were dead, through the crimes and the sins
2 en los cuales vivisteis en otro tiempo según el proceder de este mundo, según el Príncipe del imperio del aire, el Espíritu que actúa en los rebeldes...	2 which used to make up your way of life when you were living by the principles of this world, obeying theruler who dominates the air, the spirit who is at work in those who rebel.
3 entre ellos vivíamos también todos nosotros en otro tiempo en medio de las concupiscencias de nuestra carne, siguiendo las apetencias de la carne y de los malos pensamientos, destinados por naturaleza, como los demás, a la Cólera...	3 We too were al among them once, living only by our natural inclinations, obeying the demands ofhuman self-indulgence and our own whim; our nature made us no less liable to God's retribution than the rest ofthe world.
4 Pero Dios, rico en misericordia, por el grande amor con que nos amo,	4 But God, being rich in faithful love, through the great love with which he loved us,
5 estando muertos a causa de nuestros delitos, nos vivificó juntamente con Cristo - por gracia habéis sido salvados -	5 even when we were dead in our sins, brought us to life with Christ -- it is through grace that you havebeen saved-
6 y con él nos resucitó y nos hizo sentar en los cielos en Cristo Jesús,	6 and raised us up with him and gave us a place with him in heaven, in Christ Jesus.
7 a fin de mostrar en los siglos venideros la sobreabundante riqueza de su gracia, por su bondad para con nosotros en Cristo Jesús.	7 This was to show for al ages to come, through his goodness towards us in Christ Jesus, howextraordinarily rich he is in grace.
8 Pues habéis sido salvados por la gracia mediante la fe; y esto no viene de vosotros, sino que es un don de Dios;	8 Because it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith; not by anything of your own, but by agift from God;
9 tampoco viene de las obras, para que nadie se gloríe.	9 not by anything that you have done, so that nobody can claim the credit.
10 En efecto, hechura suya somos: creados en Cristo Jesús, en orden a las buenas obras que de antemano dispuso Dios que practicáramos.	10 We are God's work of art, created in Christ Jesus for the good works which God has alreadydesignated to make up our way of life.
11 Así que, recordad cómo en otro tiempo vosotros, los gentiles según la carne, llamados incircuncisos por la que se llama circuncisión - por una operación practicada en la carne -,	11 Do not forget, then, that there was a time when you who were gentiles by physical descent, termed theuncircumcised by those who speak of themselves as the circumcised by reason of a physical operation,
12 estabais a la sazón lejos de Cristo, excluidos de la ciudadanía de Israel y extraños a las alianzas de la Promesa, sin esperanza y sin Dios en el mundo.	12 do not forget, I say, that you were at that time separate from Christ and excluded from membership ofIsrael, aliens with no part in the covenants of the Promise, limited to this world, without hope and without God.
13 Mas ahora, en Cristo Jesús, vosotros, los que en otro tiempo estabais lejos, habéis llegado a estar cerca por la sangre de Cristo.	13 But now in Christ Jesus, you that used to be so far off have been brought close, by the blood of Christ.
14 Porque él es nuestra paz: el que de los dos pueblos hizo uno, derribando el muro que los separaba, la enemistad,	14 For he is the peace between us, and has made the two into one entity and broken down the barrierwhich used to keep them apart, by destroying in his own person the hostility,
15 anulando en su carne la Ley de los mandamientos con sus preceptos, para crear en sí mismo, de los dos, un solo Hombre Nuevo, haciendo la paz,	15 that is, the Law of commandments with its decrees. His purpose in this was, by restoring peace, tocreate a single New Man out of the two of them,
16 y reconciliar con Dios a ambos en un solo Cuerpo, por medio de la cruz, dando en sí mismo muerte a la Enemistad.	16 and through the cross, to reconcile them both to God in one Body; in his own person he kil ed thehostility.
17 Vino a anunciar la paz: paz a vosotros que estabais lejos, y paz a los que estaban cerca.	17 He came to bring the good news of peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near.
18 Pues por él, unos y otros tenemos libre acceso al Padre en un mismo Espíritu.	18 Through him, then, we both in the one Spirit have free access to the Father.
19 Así pues, ya no sois extraños ni forasteros, sino conciudadanos de los santos y familiares de Dios,	19 So you are no longer aliens or foreign visitors; you are fel ow-citizens with the holy people of God andpart of God's household.
20 edificados sobre el cimiento de los apóstoles y profetas, siendo la piedra angular Cristo mismo,	20 You are built upon the foundations of the apostles and prophets, and Christ Jesus himself is thecornerstone.
21 en quien toda edificación bien trabada se eleva hasta formar un templo santo en el Señor,	21 Every structure knit together in him grows into a holy temple in the Lord;
22 en quien también vosotros estáis siendo juntamente edificados, hasta ser morada de Dios en el Espíritu.	22 and you too, in him, are being built up into a dwelling-place of God in the Spirit.
