| 2 Rappelez-vous le temps où vous étiez païens. Vous perdiez tout contrôle de vous-mêmes quand on vous menait à vos idoles sans vie ni voix. | 2 You know that when you were heathen, you were led astray to dumb idols, however you may have been moved. |
| 3 Alors je vous dis: on ne peut pas crier: “Maudit soit le Christ!” quand c’est un esprit de Dieu. Et de même il faut un esprit saint pour dire: “Jésus est le Seigneur.” | 3 Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking by the Spirit of God ever says "Jesus be cursed!" and no one can say "Jesus is Lord" except by the Holy Spirit. |
| 4 Il y a différents charismes, mais c’est le même Esprit. | 4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; |
| 5 Il y a différents services, mais le Seigneur est le même. | 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; |
| 6 Il y a différents pouvoirs, mais c’est le même Dieu qui fait tout en tous. | 6 and there are varieties of working, but it is the same God who inspires them all in every one. |
| 7 Chacun reçoit quelque chose qui sert, et c’est une manifestation de l’Esprit. | 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. |
| 8 L’un reçoit de l’Esprit une parole de sagesse; chez l’autre c’est une parole de connaissance selon le même Esprit; | 8 To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, |
| 9 un autre a dans le même Esprit la foi; un autre reçoit les charismes de guérison, dans le même Esprit; | 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, |
| 10 un autre reçoit le pouvoir des miracles, un autre reçoit la prophétie, un autre sait reconnaître les esprits, un autre a quelque don de langues, un autre interprète ces langues. | 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. |
| 11 Mais c’est le même et unique Esprit qui répartit les dons propres à chacun, et il donne ce qu’il veut. | 11 All these are inspired by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. |
| 12 Les membres sont nombreux mais il n’y a qu’un seul corps, et quel que soit leur nombre, les membres du corps sont un seul corps. De même le Christ. | 12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. |
| 13 Que vous soyez juifs ou grecs, esclaves ou hommes libres, l’Esprit qui est un a fait de nous un seul corps au moment du baptême. Et tous nous avons bu de l’Esprit qui est un. | 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--Jews or Greeks, slaves or free--and all were made to drink of one Spirit. |
| 14 Pour qu’il y ait un corps, il ne suffit pas d’un membre, il en faut plusieurs. | 14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many. |
| 15 Imaginez que le pied dise: "Je ne fais pas partie du corps puisque je ne suis pas la main.” Cela ne l’empêche pas de faire partie du corps. | 15 If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," that would not make it any less a part of the body. |
| 16 Imaginez que l’oreille dise: "Je ne fais pas partie du corps, vu que je ne suis pas l’œil”, cela ne l’empêche pas de faire partie du corps. | 16 And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," that would not make it any less a part of the body. |
| 17 Si tout le corps était œil, comment pourrait-on entendre? Et s’il était tout entier oreille, où serait l’odorat? | 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? |
| 18 Mais Dieu a fait plusieurs membres et il a placé chacun d’eux dans le corps, là où il lui semblait bon. | 18 But as it is, God arranged the organs in the body, each one of them, as he chose. |
| 19 Si tous étaient le même membre, où serait le corps? | 19 If all were a single organ, where would the body be? |
| 20 Il y a donc divers membres, mais le corps est un seul. | 20 As it is, there are many parts, yet one body. |
| 21 L’œil ne peut pas dire à la main: "Je n’ai pas besoin de toi,” ni la tête dire aux pieds: "Je n’ai pas besoin de vous.” | 21 The eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you," nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." |
| 22 Bien plus, les organes du corps qui paraissent les plus faibles sont les plus nécessaires, | 22 On the contrary, the parts of the body which seem to be weaker are indispensable, |
| 23 et s’il y en a qui sont moins présentables, nous les traitons avec davantage de respect; nous habillons mieux ceux qui sont moins présentables, car ceux qui se présentent mieux n’en ont pas besoin. | 23 and those parts of the body which we think less honorable we invest with the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, |
| 24 Quand Dieu a modelé le corps, il a pris soin davantage de ceux qui sont les derniers, | 24 which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving the greater honor to the inferior part, |
| 25 pour empêcher que le corps se divise. Tous les membres doivent pareillement se préoccuper les uns des autres. | 25 that there may be no discord in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. |
| 26 Si l’un des membres souffre, tous souffrent avec lui. Si l’un des membres est mis à l’honneur, tous se réjouissent avec lui. | 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. |
| 27 Vous êtes le corps du Christ et chacun est membre à sa place. | 27 Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. |
| 28 En premier, ceux que Dieu a fait apôtres dans son Église. À la deuxième place les prophètes. À la troisième, les maîtres. Ensuite viennent le pouvoir des miracles, puis les charismes de guérison, l’aide mutuelle, la capacité de gouverner et les différents genres de langues. | 28 And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, then healers, helpers, administrators, speakers in various kinds of tongues. |
| 29 Tous sont-ils apôtres? Tous sont-ils prophètes et maîtres? Est-ce que tous peuvent faire des miracles, | 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? |
| 30 ou guérir, ou parler en langues, ou interpréter ce qui est dit? | 30 Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? |
| 31 Pourtant vous devez ambitionner les charismes les plus élevés, et même je voudrais vous montrer le chemin par excellence. | 31 But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way. |
