BIBLES DES PEUPLES	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Après un détour, nous avons pris la route du Bashan. Og, roi du Bashan, vint à notre rencontre à Édréï pour combattre avec tout son peuple.	1 'We then turned on Bashan and invaded that. And Og king of Bashan marched out against us, he andal his people, to give battle at Edrei.
2 Alors Yahvé me dit: “N’aie pas peur! Je te l’ai livré avec tout son peuple et tout son pays. Tu le traiteras comme tu as traité Sihon, roi des Amorites, qui habitait à Heshbon.”	2 Yahweh said to me, "Do not be afraid of him, for I have put him at your mercy, him, al his people andhis country. You will treat him as you treated Sihon king of the Amorites who lived in Heshbon."
3 Yahvé notre Dieu nous livra donc Og, roi du Bashan, et tout son peuple. Nous l’avons écrasé au point de ne lui laisser aucun survivant.	3 So, Yahweh our God put Og king of Bashan at our mercy too, with al his people. We beat him sothoroughly that nobody was left.
4 Nous avons pris toutes ses villes: des 60 villes de toute la région d’Argob, dans le royaume d’Og de Bashan, pas une seule ne nous a résisté.	4 That was when we captured al his towns; there was not a town of theirs we did not take: sixty towns,the whole confederation of Argob, Og's kingdom in Bashan,
5 Pourtant, toutes ces villes étaient fortifiées avec de hautes murailles, des portes et des barres. Sans compter les villes non fortifiées qui étaient en très grand nombre.	5 all of them fortresses defended by high wal s and fortified with gates and bars, not to mention thePerizzite towns, which were very numerous.
6 Nous les avons toutes vouées à l’anathème, comme nous l’avions fait pour Sihon, roi de Heshbon, avec les hommes, les femmes et les enfants.	6 We laid them under the curse of destruction as we had done Sihon king of Heshbon, laying al thesetowns under the curse of destruction: men, women and children-
7 Mais nous avons gardé pour nous tout le bétail et le butin de ces villes.	7 but we seized the livestock and spoils of the towns as booty for ourselves.
8 Nous avons donc enlevé dans ce temps-là aux deux rois des Amorites le pays qui est au-delà du Jourdain, depuis le torrent de l’Arnon jusqu’au mont Hermon.	8 'Thus, by then we had taken the country of the two Amorite kings beyond the Jordan, stretching fromthe Wadi Arnon to Mount Hermon
9 (Les habitants de Sidon appellent l’Hermon, Siryon, mais les Amorites l’appellent Sénir.)	9 (the Sidonians call Hermon 'Sirion' and the Amorites cal it 'Senir'):
10 Nous avons donc pris toutes les villes du Haut-Plateau, tout le Galaad et tout le Bashan jusqu’à Salka et Édréï, capitale d’Og de Bashan.	10 al the towns of the tableland, all Gilead, and all Bashan as far as Salecah and Edrei, the capital citiesof Og in Bashan.
11 Cet Og de Bashan était resté seul de la race des Réphaïm et c’est son lit de fer long de neuf coudées et large de quatre coudées (des coudées d’homme), qu’on voit encore à Rabba-d’Ammon.	11 (Og king of Bashan was the last survivor of the Rephaim; his bed was the iron bed that can be seen atRabbah-of-the-Ammonites, nine cubits long and four wide, according to the human cubit.)
12 En ce temps-là nous avons conquis ce pays. Je l’ai donné à la tribu de Ruben et à la tribu de Gad, depuis Aroër qui est sur le torrent d’Arnon, ainsi que la moitié de la montagne de Galaad avec ses villes.	12 'Then we took possession of this country, from Aroer on the Wadi Arnon. To the Reubenites andGadites I gave half the highlands of Gilead with its towns.
13 J’ai donné à la moitié de la tribu de Manassé le reste de Galaad et tout le Bashan (le royaume d’Og, tout le district d’Argob avec tout le Bashan. On l’appelait alors le pays des Réphaïm).	13 To the half-tribe of Manasseh I gave the rest of Gilead and the whole of Bashan, Og's kingdom. (Thewhole confederation of Argob and the whole of Bashan is cal ed the country of the Rephaim.
14 Yaïr, fils de Manassé, s’empara de tout le district d’Argob, jusqu’à la frontière des Guéchourites et des Maakatites. Aux villages du Bashan il donna son propre nom: on les appelle encore aujourd’hui les Douars de Yaïr.	14 Since Jair son of Manasseh occupied the whole confederation of Argob as far as the frontiers of theGeshurites and Maacathites, after him Bashan is called the Encampments of Jair even today.)
15 Quant à Makir, je lui ai donné Galaad.	15 To Machir I gave Gilead.
16 À Ruben et à Gad, j’ai donné le Galaad jusqu’au torrent de l’Arnon avec comme frontière: d’un côté, le milieu du torrent, et du côté des Ammonites, le torrent du Yabok.	16 To the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave the region from Gilead to the Wadi Arnon, the middle of theravine marking the boundary, and up as far as the Jabbok, the ravine marking the frontier of the Ammonites.
17 Je lui ai donné aussi la Araba avec le Jourdain comme frontière, depuis Kinnéret jusqu’à la mer de la Araba qu’on appelle aussi la Mer de Sel, au pied du Pisga à l’est.	17 The Arabah and the Jordan serve as frontiers from Chinnereth down to the Sea of the Arabah (theSalt Sea), at the foot of the slopes of Pisgah on the east.
18 En ce temps-là je vous ai donné des instructions. Je vous ai dit: “Yahvé votre Dieu vous a donné ce pays pour que vous le possédiez. Vous tous, hommes courageux, vous passerez en armes devant vos frères Israélites,	18 'I then gave you this order: "Yahweh your God has given you this country to be yours. Armed, everyone of you fit to fight must go ahead of your brothers the Israelites.
19 mais vos femmes, vos petits-enfants et vos troupeaux qui sont, je le sais, très nombreux, resteront dans les villes que je vous ai données.”	19 Only your wives, your children and your flocks (you have many flocks, I know) must stay behind in thetowns which I have given you,
20 Lorsque Yahvé aura donné à vos frères, comme à vous-mêmes, le repos, lorsqu’ils posséderont eux aussi le pays que Yahvé votre Dieu leur donne au-delà du Jourdain, alors chacun de vous pourra retourner dans l’héritage que je vous ai attribué.	20 until Yahweh has brought your brothers to rest as he has already brought you, and they too possessthe territory which Yahweh your God is giving them on the other side of the Jordan; after that, you can go home,each to the domain I have given you."
21 En ce temps-là j’ai donné aussi des instructions à Josué. Je lui ai dit: “Tes yeux voient tout ce que Yahvé votre Dieu a fait à ces deux rois. Yahvé fera de même pour tous les royaumes que vous allez traverser.	21 I then gave Joshua this order, "You can see for yourself everything that Yahweh our God has done tothese two kings; Yahweh will do the same to al the kingdoms through which you pass.
22 Ne les craignez donc pas, car Yahvé votre Dieu combat pour vous.”	22 Do not be afraid of them: Yahweh your God himself is fighting for you."
23 En ce temps-là j’ai supplié Yahvé:	23 'I then pleaded with Yahweh.
24 “Seigneur Yahvé, lui ai-je dit, tu as commencé à montrer à ton serviteur ta grandeur et la puissance de ta main. Quel Dieu dans les cieux ou sur la terre, pourrait faire des œuvres et des exploits semblables aux tiens?	24 "My Lord Yahweh," I said, "now that you have begun to reveal your greatness and your power to yourservant with works and mighty deeds no God in heaven or on earth can rival,
25 Aussi maintenant je voudrais passer et voir le bon pays qui est au-delà du Jourdain, cette belle montagne et le Liban.”	25 may I not go across and see this fine country on the other side of the Jordan, that fine upland countryand the Lebanon?"
26 Mais Yahvé s’était fâché contre moi à cause de vous et il ne m’écouta pas. Et Yahvé me dit: “Cela suffit, ne me parle plus de cette affaire!	26 But, because of you, Yahweh was angry with me and would not listen. "Enough!" he said, "Do notmention this subject again!
27 Tu vas monter au sommet du Pisga, et tu porteras ton regard à l’ouest, au nord, au sud et à l’est. Regarde bien, car tu ne traverseras pas ce Jourdain.	27 Climb to the top of Pisgah; turn your eyes to the west, the north, the south, the east. Look wel , foracross this Jordan you shall not go.
28 Mais donne tes ordres à Josué, encourage-le, rends-le fort: lui passera en tête de ce peuple et le mettra en possession du pays que tu auras vu.”	28 Give Joshua your instructions; encourage him, strengthen him; for he wil be the one to cross at thehead of this people; he wil be the one to bring them into possession of the country which you will see."
29 Après cela, nous sommes restés dans la Vallée en face de Beth-Péor.	29 'We then stayed in the val ey, close to Beth-Peor.'
