1 Au premier mois de la deuxième année après la sortie du pays d’Égypte, Yahvé dit à Moïse dans le désert du Sinaï:	1 In the first month of the year following their departure from the land of Egypt, the Lord said to Moses in the desert of Sinai,
2 “Les fils d’Israël célébreront la Pâque à sa date.	2 "Tell the Israelites to celebrate the Passover at the prescribed time.
3 Vous la célébrerez le quatorzième jour de ce mois, à la tombée du jour. Vous la célébrerez selon tous ses rites et tous ses règlements.”	3 The evening twilight of the fourteenth day of this month is the prescribed time when you shall celebrate it, observing all its rules and regulations."
4 À son tour, Moïse dit aux Israélites de célébrer la Pâque.	4 Moses, therefore, told the Israelites to celebrate the Passover.
5 Ils célébrèrent donc la Pâque dans le désert du Sinaï, le quatorzième jour du premier mois, à la tombée du jour. Les Israélites firent tout ce que Yahvé avait commandé à Moïse.	5 And they did so, celebrating the Passover in the desert of Sinai during the evening twilight of the fourteenth day of the first month, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
6 Or il y en eut parmi eux qui étaient impurs pour avoir touché un cadavre; ils ne purent donc célébrer la Pâque ce jour-là. Ils vinrent trouver Moïse et Aaron,	6 There were some, however, who were unclean because of a human corpse and so could not keep the Passover that day. These men came up to Moses and Aaron that same day
7 et ils dirent à Moïse: “Certes, nous sommes impurs à cause de ce cadavre, quel malheur que nous ne puissions pas présenter l’offrande à Yahvé avec tous les Israélites!”	7 and said, "Although we are unclean because of a corpse, why should we be deprived of presenting the LORD'S offering at its proper time along with the other Israelites?"
8 Moïse leur répondit: “Restez pour que j’écoute ce que Yahvé commandera à votre sujet.”	8 Moses answered them, "Wait until I learn what the LORD will command in your regard."
9 Yahvé dit à Moïse:	9 The LORD then said to Moses:
10 “Voici ce que tu diras aux Israélites: Si quelqu’un parmi vous ou parmi vos descendants, se trouve impur à cause d’un cadavre, ou qu’il se trouve en voyage dans un pays lointain, il pourra cependant célébrer la Pâque en l’honneur de Yahvé.	10 "Speak to the Israelites and say: If any one of you or of your descendants is unclean because of a corpse, or if he is absent on a journey, he may still keep the LORD'S Passover.
11 Il la célébrera au second mois, le quatorzième jour à la tombée du jour. Il la mangera avec des pains sans levain et des herbes amères;	11 But he shall keep it in the second month, during the evening twilight of the fourteenth day of that month, eating it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs,
12 on n’en laissera rien jusqu’au matin, on ne brisera aucun os; on la célébrera selon toutes les prescriptions concernant la Pâque.	12 and not leaving any of it over till morning, nor breaking any of its bones, but observing all the rules of the Passover.
13 Mais si quelqu’un qui est pur et qui n’est pas en voyage ne célèbre pas la Pâque, il sera retranché de son peuple pour n’avoir pas présenté son offrande à Yahvé au temps fixé: il portera le poids de son péché.	13 However, anyone who is clean and not away on a journey, who yet fails to keep the Passover, shall be cut off from his people, because he did not present the LORD'S offering at the prescribed time. That man shall bear the consequences of his sin.
14 Si un étranger résidant au milieu de vous veut célébrer la Pâque de Yahvé, il observera les lois et les règles relatives à la Pâque. La loi sera la même pour tous, pour l’étranger comme pour l’homme du pays.	14 "If an alien who lives among you wishes to keep the LORD'S Passover, he too shall observe the rules and regulations for the Passover. You shall have the same law for the resident alien as for the native of the land."
15 La nuée couvrit la Demeure à partir du jour où elle fut dressée: c’est la Tente du Témoignage. Et de la tombée de la nuit jusqu’au matin il y eut comme un feu sur la Demeure.	15 On the day when the Dwelling was erected, the cloud covered the Dwelling, the tent of the commandments; but from evening until morning it took on the appearance of fire over the Dwelling.
16 Il en fut ainsi continuellement: la nuée couvrait la Demeure, et la nuit c’était comme un feu.	16 It was always so: during the day the Dwelling was covered by the cloud, which at night had the appearance of fire.
17 Lorsque la nuée s’élevait au-dessus de la Tente, les Israélites partaient, et ils établissaient leur camp là où la nuée s’arrêtait.	17 Whenever the cloud rose from the tent, the Israelites would break camp; wherever the cloud came to rest, they would pitch camp.
18 Les Israélites levaient le camp sur l’ordre de Yahvé, et sur l’ordre de Yahvé ils le dressaient. Et ils campaient là aussi longtemps que la nuée reposait sur la Demeure.	18 At the bidding of the LORD the Israelites moved on, and at his bidding they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the Dwelling, they remained in camp.
19 Si la nuée restait longtemps sur la Demeure, les Israélites respectaient la volonté de Yahvé: ils ne levaient pas le camp.	19 Even when the cloud tarried many days over the Dwelling, the Israelites obeyed the LORD and would not move on;
20 De même, lorsque la nuée ne restait que quelques jours sur la Demeure. Sur l’ordre de Yahvé ils dressaient le camp, et au commandement de Yahvé ils le levaient.	20 yet sometimes the cloud was over the Dwelling only for a few days. It was at the bidding of the LORD that they stayed in camp, and it was at his bidding that they departed.
21 Si la nuée ne se reposait que du soir au matin, dès que la nuée s’élevait le matin, ils partaient. Et si la nuée s’élevait après un jour et une nuit, dès qu’elle s’élevait ils partaient.	21 Sometimes the cloud remained there only from evening until morning; and when it rose in the morning, they would depart. Or if the cloud lifted during the day, or even at night, they would then set out.
22 Si la nuée s’arrêtait sur la Demeure plusieurs jours, un mois ou une année, les Israélites restaient là et ne levaient pas le camp. Mais dès qu’elle s’élevait, ils levaient le camp.	22 Whether the cloud tarried over the Dwelling for two days or for a month or longer, the Israelites remained in camp and did not depart; but when it lifted, they moved on.
23 Sur l’ordre de Yahvé ils dressaient le camp, et sur l’ordre de Yahvé ils levaient le camp. Ils observaient l’ordre de Yahvé, tout ce qu’il commandait à Moïse.	23 Thus, it was always at the bidding of the LORD that they encamped, and at his bidding that they set out; ever heeding the charge of the LORD, as he had bidden them through Moses.
