Zaccaria 11

1 O Libano, apri le tue porte, e lo fuoco mangi li tuoi cedri.	1 Open your doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour your cedars!
2 O abete, urla, per che cadde lo cedro, però che gli magnifici sono guastati; urlate voi, querce di Basan, però che lo termine armato è caduto.	2 Wail, you cypress trees, for the cedars are fallen, the mighty have been despoiled. Wail, you oaks of Bashan, for the impenetrable forest is cut down!
3 La voce dell' urlo de' pastori s' ode, però che è guastata la loro magnificenza; e la voce dello ruggito delli leoni, però ch' è guastata la superbia del Giordano.	3 Hark! the wailing of the shepherds, their glory has been ruined. Hark! the roaring of the young lions, the jungle of the Jordan is laid waste.
4 Questo dice lo mio Signore Iddio: pasci le pecore della uccisione.	4 Thus said the LORD, my God: Shepherd the flock to be slaughtered.
5 Le quali uccidevano coloro che le possedono, e vendevanle dicendo: benedetto sia Iddio, noi siamo fatti ricchi; e li loro pastori non perdonavano loro.	5 For they who buy them slay them with impunity; while those who sell them say, "Blessed be the LORD, I have become rich!" Even their own shepherds do not feel for them.
6 E io non perdonerò più a coloro che sono abitatori della terra, dice lo Signore Iddio; ecco, io darò li uomini, ciascuno nella mano del suo prossimo, e nella mano del suo re; e cadranno in terra, e non li libererò delle loro mani.	6 (Nor shall I spare the inhabitants of the earth any more, says the LORD. Yes, I will deliver each of them into the power of his neighbor, or into the power of his king; they shall crush the earth, and I will not deliver it out of their power.)
7 E pascerò le pecore della uccisione; e però io chiamai li poveri della greggia; e pigliai due verghe; l' una si chiama Bellezza, e l'altra Funicello; e pasceo la greggia.	7 So I became the shepherd of the flock to be slaughtered for the sheep merchants. I took two staffs, one of which I called "Favor," and the other, "Bonds," and I fed the flock.
8 E uccisi tre pastori in uno mese, e lo mio. spirito si ritrasse in loro; e la loro anima sì si variò contro a me.	8 In a single month I did away with the three shepherds. I wearied of them, and they behaved badly toward me.
9 E dissi: io non vi pascerò; chi muore si muoia, e chi è tagliato sie tagliato; altri divori ciascuno la carne del suo prossimo.	9 "I will not feed you," I said. "What is to die, let it die; what is to perish, let it perish, and let those that are left devour one another's flesh."
10 E tolsi la mia verga, che si chiama Bellezza, e taglia'la acciò che facessi tornare addietro lo mio patto, lo quale io feci con tutti li popoli.	10 Then I took my staff "Favor" and snapped it asunder, breaking off the covenant which I had made with all peoples;
11 E fue tornato addietro in quel dì; e così conobbero i poveri della greggia, i quali fanno la guardia a me, però che fue la parola di Dio.	11 that day it was broken off. The sheep merchants who were watching me understood that this was the word of the LORD.
12 E io dissi a loro: se vi pare che sia bene, datemi la mia mercede ... E la mia mercede sarà apprezzata XXX danari d'argento.	12 I said to them, "If it seems good to you, give me my wages; but if not, let it go." And they counted out my wages, thirty pieces of silver.
13 E disse lo Signore a me: tutto quello prezzo ch' io sono apprezzato da loro, piglialo e gettalo al statuario. E tolsi XXX danari d'argento, e gitta'li nella casa di Dio allo statuario.	13 But the LORD said to me, "Throw it in the treasury, the handsome price at which they valued me." So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the treasury in the house of the LORD.
14 E tagliai la mia verga seconda, la quale si chiamava Funicello, per isciogliere la fraternitade tra Giuda e Israel.	14 Then I snapped asunder my other staff, "Bonds," breaking off the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.
15 E disse Iddio a me: ancora piglia li vasi del pastore istolto.	15 The LORD said to me: This time take the gear of a foolish shepherd.
16 Però che ecco, io risusciterò lo pastore in terra, il quale non visiterà le cose abbandonate, e non domanderà le cose disperse, e quello che sarà ispezzato non sanerà, e quello che istà non nutrirà, e mangerà le carni de' grassi, e iscioglierà le loro unghie.	16 For I will raise up a shepherd in the land who will take no note of those that perish, nor seek the strays, nor heal the injured, nor feed what survives--he will eat the flesh of the fat ones and tear off their hoofs!
17 O pastore, e idolo che abbandoni la greggia! Lo coltello sia sopra lo suo braccio, e sopra lo suo occhio diritto; lo suo braccio si seccherà per ariditade, e l'occhio suo diritto intenebrando sarà oscurato.	17 Woe to my foolish shepherd who forsakes the flock! May the sword fall upon his arm and upon his right eye; Let his arm wither away entirely, and his right eye be blind forever!
