Ieremia 23

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Guai alli pastori i quali uccidono e dilàcerano la gregge della pastura [mia], dice Iddio.	1 'Disaster for the shepherds who lose and scatter the sheep of my pasture, Yahweh declares.
2 Dice Iddio d'Israel alli pastori, i quali pascono lo populo mio: voi avete disperso la mia gregge, cacciasteli e non li visitaste; ecco io visiterò sopra voi la malizia de' vostri studii, dice Iddio.	2 This, therefore, is what Yahweh, God of Israel, says about the shepherds who shepherd my people,"You have scattered my flock, you have driven them away and have not taken care of them. Right, I shal takecare of you for your misdeeds, Yahweh declares!
3 E radunerò li rimasti della mia gregge di tutte le terre, alle quali io [li] caccerò là: e convertirolli alle loro ville; e cresceranno e saranno multiplicati	3 But the remnant of my flock I myself shal gather from all the countries where I have driven them, andbring them back to their folds; they will be fruitful and increase in numbers.
4 E resusciterò loro pastori, e pasceranno loro; non averanno più paura, e non temeranno; e non sarà domandato del numero, dice Iddio.	4 For them I shall raise up shepherds to shepherd them and pasture them. No fear, no terror for themany more; not one shal be lost, Yahweh declares!
5 Ecco che viene li giorni, dice il Signore, e resusciterò David, giusto rampollo; e regnerà re, e sarà savio, e farà giudicio e giustizia in terra.	5 Look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when I shal raise an upright Branch for David; he willreign as king and be wise, doing what is just and upright in the country.
6 In quello tempo si salverà Giuda, e Israel abiterà securamente; e questo è lo nome per lo quale chiameranno lui: nostro giusto Signore.	6 In his days Judah wil triumph and Israel live in safety. And this is the name he wil be called, 'Yahweh-is-our-Saving-Justice.' "
7 Però, ecco, li di vengono, dice Iddio, e non dìranno più vive Iddio, il quale menò li figliuoli d' Israel della terra d' Egitto;	7 'So, look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when people wil no longer say, "As Yahweh liveswho brought the Israelites out of Egypt,"
8 ma vive lo Signore, lo quale menò e addusse lo seme della casa d' Israel della terra d'aquilone, e da tutte le terre alle quali io li avea cacciati; e abiteranno nella terra sua.	8 but, "As Yahweh lives who led back and brought home the offspring of the House of Israel from theland of the north and all the countries to which he had driven them, to live on their own soil." '
9 [Alli profeti]: lo mio cuore è contrito nel mezzo di me, e tremarono tutte le mie ossa; e sono fatto come uno uomo ebrio, e quasi come gravato di vino, dalla faccia di Dio e dalla faccia delle sue sante parole.	9 On the prophets. My heart is broken within me, I tremble in al my bones; I am like a drunken man, likea man overcome with wine, because of Yahweh and his holy words:
10 Però che la terra è ripiena d' adulterii; però che la terra pianse (e lamentossi) [dalla faccia] della maledizione; li campi del deserto sono disseccati; e lo corso loro si è fatto reo, e la loro fortezza si è fatta dissimigliante.	10 'For the country is ful of adulterers; yes, because of a curse, the country is in mourning and thepasturage in the desert has dried up; they are prompt to do wrong, make no effort to do right.
11 Li profeti e li sacerdoti sono corrotti; nella [mia] casa hoe trovato loro male, dice Iddio.	11 Yes, even prophet and priest are godless, I have detected their wickedness in my own House,Yahweh declares.
12 Però (che) la loro via sarà come sdrucciolo nelle tenebre; e saranno sospinti e caderanno in quella; io arrecherò sopra loro li mali e l'anno della visitazione, dice Iddio.	12 Because of this, their way wil prove treacherous going for them; in the darkness where they aredriven, there they wil fall. For I shal bring disaster on them, when the year for punishing them comes, Yahwehdeclares.
13 E vidi (pazzia e) fatuità ne' profeti di Samaria; profetavano in Baal, e ingannavano lo mio populo d' Israel.	13 'In the prophets of Samaria I have seen insanity: they prophesied in the name of Baal and led mypeople Israel astray.
14 E nelli profeti di Ierusalem vidi somiglianza d'adulterio, e via di bugia; e confortarono le mani de' pessimi, acciò che niuno si convertisse della sua malizia; e fatti sono tutti a me [come] Sodoma, e li abitatori suoi quasi come Gomorra.	14 But in the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen something horrible: adultery, persistent lying, suchabetting of the wicked that no one renounces his wickedness. To me they are al like Sodom and its inhabitantsare like Gomorrah.
15 Però questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti ai profeti: ecco io darò loro cibo [di] assenzio e beveraggio di fiele; la polluzione è uscita sopra tutta la terra dalli profeti di Ierusalem:	15 So this is what Yahweh Sabaoth says about the prophets, "Now I shal give them wormwood to eatand make them drink poisoned water, since from the prophets of Jerusalem godlessness has spread throughoutthe land."
16 Questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: non vogliate udire le parole de' profeti, i quali profetano a voi, e ingannono voi; parlano la visione delli loro cuori, e non della bocca del Signore.	16 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this, "Do not listen to what those prophets prophesy to you; they are deludingyou, they retail visions of their own, and not what comes from Yahweh's mouth.
17 E dicono a quelli che biastemano me: hae parlato Iddio; pace sarà a voi; e a ogni uomo, il quale va nella pravità del suo cuore, e' dissono: non verrà lo male sopra voi.	17 To those who despise me, they keep saying: Yahweh has spoken: you wil have peace! and to al whofol ow their own stubborn inclinations: No disaster wil touch you."
18 E chi fue nel consiglio del Signore, e vidde e udie le sue parole? e [chi] considerò la sua parola, e udilla?	18 But who has been present in Yahweh's council and seen, and heard his word? Who has paidattention to his word and listened to it?
19 Ecco la turbazione della indignazione di Dio esce fuori, e una tempesta rompevole verrà sopra lo capo delli empii.	19 Look, Yahweh's hurricane, his wrath, bursts out, a fearsome hurricane, to burst on the heads of thewicked;
20 Lo furore del Signore non ritornerà, insino a tanto che compia il desiderio del suo cuore; nelli dì novissimi intenderete lo suo consiglio.	20 Yahweh's anger wil not withdraw until he has performed, has carried out, what he has in mind. In thefinal days, you wil understand this clearly,
21 Non mandava li profeti, ed elli correano; non parlava loro, ed egli (parlavano e) profetavano.	21 'I did not send these prophets, yet they ran! I did not speak to them, yet they prophesied!
22 Se fossono stati nel mio consiglio, e avessono manifestato le mie parole al mio populo, e io li averei rivolti della loro malvagità e de' loro pessimi cuori.	22 Had they been present in my council, they could have proclaimed my words to my people and turnedthem from their evil way and from the wickedness of their deeds!
23 Non pensi tu, Iddio dice, [che] io sono vicino, e non di lungi?	23 'Am I a God when near, Yahweh demands, and not a God when far away?
24 Se l'uomo si asconderà in luogo nascoso, e io non vederò lui? dice Iddio. Or non riempio il cielo e la terra? dice Iddio.	24 Can anyone hide somewhere secret without my seeing him? Yahweh demands. Do I not fil heavenand earth? Yahweh demands.
25 [Udii] le cose le quali dissono li profeti, profetanti nel mio nome bugie, e dicenti: io ho sognato, [io ho sognato].	25 'I have heard what the prophets say who make their lying prophecies in my name. "I have had adream," they say, "I have had a dream!"
26 Or dunque è questo nel cuore de' profeti indovinantisi li mentiri, e profetanti le seduzioni dello loro cuore?	26 How long are there to be those among the prophets who prophesy lies and are in fact prophets oftheir own delusions?
27 I quali vogliono fare che lo mio populo dimentichi lo mio nome per loro sogni, i quali narra ciascuno al suo prossimo, sì come dimenticarono li loro padri lo mio nome per Baal. (Baal fu uno grande idolo, e fu molto adorato dalle genti).	27 They are doing their best, by means of the dreams that they keep tel ing each other, to make mypeople forget my name, just as their ancestors forgot my name in favour of Baal.
28 Lo profeta lo quale hae sogno, narrilo; e chi hae lo mio sermone, lo parli, dice Iddio: o chi hae agguagliare la paglia al grano?	28 Let the prophet who has had a dream tel it for a dream! And let him who receives a word from me,deliver my word accurately! 'What have straw and wheat in common? Yahweh demands.
29 Or non sono le mie parole come fuoco, [dice Iddioj, e quasi come uno martello che trita la pietra?	29 Is my word not like fire, Yahweh demands, is it not like a hammer shattering a rock?
30 Però che ...	30 'So, then, I have a quarrel with the prophets, Yahweh declares, that steal my words from one another.
31 Io dico alli profeti, dice Iddio, li quali pigliano le loro lingue, e dicono: dice Iddio.	31 I have a quarrel with the prophets, Yahweh declares, who wag their tongues to utter prophecies.
32 E dico io a' profeti sognanti di bugie, [dice Iddio], li quali narrarono, e sedussono lo populo mio nelle loro bugie, e nelli loro miracoli; conciosia cosa ch' io non li mandassi loro, li quali non feceno però prode a questo mio populo [dice Iddio].	32 I have a quarrel with the prophets who make prophecies out of lying dreams, Yahweh declares, whorecount them, and lead my people astray by their lies and their bragging. I certainly never sent them orcommissioned them, and they serve no good purpose for this people, Yahweh declares.
33 Adunque se questo populo t' addomandasse, o profeta o sacerdote, dicente: quale è lo carico del Signore? dirai: voi siete (or che vi fa a voi) questo incarico; io vi gitterò, dice Iddio.	33 'And when this people, or a prophet, or a priest, asks you, "What is Yahweh's burden?" you mustanswer, "You are the burden, and I shal get rid of you, Yahweh declares!"
34 E lo profeta e lo sacerdote e lo populo lo quale dice: lo carico di Dio; visiterò sopra lui, e sopra la casa sua.	34 'As for the prophet, the priest, or anyone else, who says, "Yahweh's burden", I shall punish that man,and his household too.
35 E dirà ciascuno al suo prossimo e al suo fratello che rispuose lo Signore? e che ha parlato?	35 This is what you must say to one another, among yourselves, "What answer has Yahweh given?" or"What has Yahweh said?"
36 Non dite, non dite più lo carico del Signore, non sia più memoria; però che lo carico sarà a ciascuno la sua parola; e fate perverse le parole del vivente Iddio, Signore delli esèrciti, [Iddio nostro].	36 But stop using the expression "Yahweh's burden", for what each man says will be his ownresponsibility. And you twist the words of the living God, of Yahweh Sabaoth, our God.
37 [Questo dirai al profeta]: che rispuose [a te] lo Signore? E che ha parlato?	37 This is the way to speak to a prophet, "What answer has Yahweh given?" or "What has Yahwehsaid?"
38 E se direte: lo carico del Signore, però questo dice Iddio: però che diceste queste parole, cioè lo carico [del Signore], e mandai a voi dicendo: non dite più lo carico del Signore;	38 But if you say, "Yahweh's burden", then Yahweh says this, "Since you use the expression 'Yahweh'sburden', when I have warned you to stop saying, 'Yahweh's burden',
39 però ( ch' ) io torrò da voi apportante, e abbandonerò voi e la cittade la quale io diedi a voi e alli vostri padri, dalla mia faccia.	39 believe me, I shal pick you up and fling you from my presence, you and the city I gave to you and toyour ancestors.
40 E darò voi in sempiterno disonore e vergogna eternale, la quale non si spezzarà per dimenticamento.	40 I shal bring down everlasting shame on you, everlasting and unforgettable disgrace." '
