| 1 Guai a te che fai preda; or tu medesimo non sarai rubato? E tu che dileggi, non sarai tu dileggiato? E quando tu averai consumato la preda, sarai rubato; e affaticato lasarai di disprezzare, e sarai disprezzato. | 1 Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee. |
| 2 O Signore, abbi misericordia di noi, però che noi abbiamo aspettato te; sia tu nostro braccio la mattina, e nostra salute nel tempo della tribulazione. | 2 O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble. |
| 3 Li populi fuggirono dalla voce delli angeli; e dallo tuo esaltamento le genti sono disperse. | 3 At the noise of the tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered. |
| 4 E li vostri vestimenti saranno ricolti come si ricoglie lo bruco, quasi come le fosse ne fussono ripiene di lui. | 4 And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them. |
| 5 Lo Signore è magnificato, però ch' egli abitoe nella parte alta; e riempiè Sion di giudicio e di giustizia. | 5 The LORD is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness. |
| 6 E nelli suoi tempi sarà la fede; e le ricchezze della (sua) salute saranno la scienza no; e lo tesoro sarà lo timore di Dio. | 6 And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure. |
| 7 Ed ecco quelli che vederanno questo, grideranno di fuori; e li angeli della pace piagneranno amaramente. | 7 Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly. |
| 8 Le vie sono dissipate (e disfatte); lo passante sì cessò di passare per la strada, e lo patto è ritornato a dietro; scacciò via le cittadi, e per niente riputò li uomini. | 8 The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceaseth: he hath broken the covenant, he hath despised the cities, he regardeth no man. |
| 9 La terra pianse ed ebbe languore in sè; lo Libano fu confuso, e divenne sordo; e Saron diventò come uno deserto, e Basan e Carmelo (cioè quello monte) furono commossi. (Saron si fu una provincia, che è tra Open e Lida, dove erano molti belli campi, abbondevoli e larghi). | 9 The earth mourneth and languisheth: Lebanon is ashamed and hewn down: Sharon is like a wilderness; and Bashan and Carmel shake off their fruits. |
| 10 Ora io mi leverò, dice lo Signore; ora sard esaltato, ora sarò sollevato. | 10 Now will I rise, saith the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up myself. |
| 11 Voi concepirete l' ardore, e partorirete la esca (dal fuoco); lo vostro spirito divorerà voi, come fusse fuoco. | 11 Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath, as fire, shall devour you. |
| 12 E li populi saranno come cenere d' arsura; e le spine radunate al fuoco arderanno. | 12 And the people shall be as the burnings of lime: as thorns cut up shall they be burned in the fire. |
| 13 Udite, voi che siete dalla lunga, quelle cose le quali io ho fatte; e voi, vicini, conoscete la mia fortezza. | 13 Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might. |
| 14 Li peccatori sono spezzati e rotti in Sion, lo tremore hae posseduto (e ispauriti) li ipocriti. Quale è di voi che possi abitare col fuoco divorante? Quale di voi abiterà colli ardori sempiterni? | 14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings? |
| 15 Colui il quale va nelle giustizie, e parla la verità; il quale getta la avarizia e la calunnia, e scote le sue mani da ogni dono; il quale ottura le sue orecchie acciò ch' egli non dia opera di sangue, chiude li suoi occhi acciò ch' egli non veggia lo male; | 15 He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil; |
| 16 questo abiterà nelli luoghi alti, e la sua altezza sarà armadura di sassi; lo pane è dato a lui, e le sue acque sono fedeli. | 16 He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure. |
| 17 Vedranno lo re (cioè lo signore) nella sua bellezza li suoi occhi; riguarderanno la terra di lungi. | 17 Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off. |
| 18 E lo tuo cuore penserà nella paura: dov'è lo letterato? dov'è quello che (pensa, ovvero) pesa (cioè giudica) le parole della legge? dove sono li ammaestratori de' piccoli? | 18 Thine heart shall meditate terror. Where is the scribe? where is the receiver? where is he that counted the towers? |
| 19 Tu non vederai lo populo imprudente, lo populo di alto parlare; sì che tu non possi intendere le disputazioni della sua lingua, nello quale (cioè in quello populo) non è alcuna sapienza. | 19 Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand. |
| 20 Riguarda tu Sion, la cittade della nostra solennitade; li tuoi occhi vederanno Ierusalem, cittade ricca, lo tabernacolo lo quale non si potrà transportare; e li suoi chiavelli non si torranno via in sempiterno, e tutti li suoi funicelli non si romperanno. | 20 Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken. |
| 21 Però che solo quivi fue magnificato lo Signore Iddio nostro; lo luogo de' fiumi, rivi larghissimi e manifesti a tutti; la nave delli rematori non entrò per quello, nè la nave che abbia tre ordini di remi, che sia grande, non passerà per quello luogo. | 21 But there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby. |
| 22 Però che lo Signore è nostro giudice, e lo Signore è nostro legista; e lo nostro Signore (verrà) salverà noi. | 22 For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us. |
| 23 Li tuoi funicelli sono discorsi, ma non soperchiorono, (e poi dice): l' arboro tuo sarà così, che tu non potrai scampare lo segno. Allora si divideranno li spogliamenti di molti rubamenti, e li zoppi ruberanno la rapina. | 23 Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not well strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail: then is the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame take the prey. |
| 24 E lo vicino non dirà: io mi languii; e lo populo che abiterà in lei, sarà tolta da lui la malvagitade. | 24 And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity. |
