1 Ed Eliseo disse: intendete la parola di Dio : questo dice il Signore: domane in questo tempo il moggio della simila si ritroverà nella porta di Samaria per uno statere, e due moggi d' orzo per uno statere.	1 Elisha said: "Hear the word of the LORD! Thus says the LORD, 'At this time tomorrow a seah of fine flour will sell for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, in the market of Samaria.'"
2 E respondendo uno de' capitani, nelle mani del quale il (fatto del) re stava, disse all' uomo di Dio: come potrà essere quello che tu di', eziandio se il Signore aprisse le cateratte nel cielo? Al quale Eliseo respuose: tu il vederai con gli tuoi occhi, e non mangerai di quello.	2 But the adjutant on whose arm the king leaned, answered the man of God, "Even if the LORD were to make windows in heaven, how could this happen?" "You shall see it with your own eyes," Elisha said, "but you shall not eat of it."
3 E appresso all' entrata della porta erano quattro uomini leprosi; i quali disseno insieme: che vogliamo noi istare quiritta, tanto che noi ci moriamo?	3 At the city gate were four lepers who were deliberating, "Why should we sit here until we die?
4 E se noi vorremo entrare nella città, di fame morremo; e se noi istaremo quiritta, pur morire ci conviene; adunque venite, e fuggiamo al campo de' Sirii; e s' eglino ci vorranno perdonare, viveremo; e s' eglino ci vorranno uccidere, non meno però morire ci conviene.	4 If we decide to go into the city, we shall die there, for there is famine in the city. If we remain here, we shall die too. Come, let us desert to the camp of the Arameans. If they spare us, we live; if they kill us, we die."
5 E levaronsi in sul vespro, e andàronsene al campo di Siria; e venuti al principio del campo di Siria, non trovarono ivi persona.	5 At twilight they left for the Arameans; but when they reached the edge of the camp, no one was there.
6 Però che il Signore avea fatto udire uno suono, nel campo di Siria, di cavalli e di carra e di grande esercito; e dissono insieme: ecco che il re d'Israel ha condotto a soldo i re degli Etei e degli Egizii contro a noi, e sono venuti sopra noi.	6 The LORD had caused the army of the Arameans to hear the sound of chariots and horses, the din of a large army, and they had reasoned among themselves, "The king of Israel has hired the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the borderlands to fight us."
7 Onde si levaro, e fuggirono la notte, e lasciarono i loro paviglioni, e i cavalli e gli asini (e' muli) nel campo, e fuggirono desiderando di scampare pure la vita.	7 Then in the twilight they fled, abandoning their tents, their horses, and their asses, the whole camp just as it was, and fleeing for their lives.
8 Or venuti quelli leprosi al cominciamento del campo, entrarono ivi in una tenda, e mangiarono, e bevèno; e tolsero indi ariento e oro e vestimenta, e andarono e nascosero; e dopo questo tornorono, e andarono a un'altra tenda, e feceno come alla prima, e tolseno e nascosero.	8 After the lepers reached the edge of the camp, they went first into one tent, ate and drank, and took silver, gold, and clothing from it, and went out and hid them. Back they came into another tent, took things from it, and again went out and hid them.
9 E dissero insieme: noi non facciamo dirittamente; questo è uno dì di buone novelle; se noi vorremo tacere, e non dirne nulla di qui a domattina, noi saremo represi di peccato; venite dunque, e diciamo questo in corte del re.	9 Then they said to one another: "We are not doing right. This is a day of good news, and we are keeping silent. If we wait until morning breaks, we shall be blamed. Come, let us go and inform the palace."
10 E vegnendo eglino alla porta della città, narrarono dicendo: noi siamo andati al campo di Siria, e non vi abbiamo trovato persona, se non i cavalli e gli asini legati, e i paviglioni tutti diritti.	10 They came and summoned the city gatekeepers. "We went to the camp of the Arameans," they said, "but no one was there--not a human voice, only the horses and asses tethered, and the tents just as they were left."
11 Onde che i portieri andarono, e annunciarono questo nel palagio del re dentro.	11 The gatekeepers announced this and it was reported within the palace.
12 Il quale si levò la notte, e disse a' suoi servi: io vi dico quello che i Siri ci hanno fatto; egli sanno che noi abbiamo grande fame, però sono usciti del campo, e sono nascosi per li campi, dicono: quando egli usciranno della città, noi gli piglieremo vivi, e allora potremo entrare nella città.	12 Though it was night, the king got up; he said to his servants: "Let me tell you what the Arameans have done to us. Knowing that we are in famine, they have left their camp to hide in the field, hoping to take us alive and enter our city when we leave it."
13 E uno de' suoi servi respuose: togliamo cinque cavalli, i quali ci sono rimasi nella città; perchè questi solamente sono in tutta la moltitudine d' Israel, però che tutti gli altri sono consumati; e mandandogli, potremo ispiare.	13 One of his servants, however, suggested: "Since those who are left in the city are no better off than all the throng that has perished, let some of us take five of the abandoned horses and send scouts to investigate."
14 E menarono due cavalli, e mandò fil re] al campo di Siria, e disse: andate e vedete.	14 They took two chariots, and horses, and the king sent them to reconnoiter the Aramean army. "Go and find out," he ordered.
15 I quali andarono dopo loro insino al Giordano; e tutta la via era piena di vestimenta e di vasa, le quali i Siri aveano gettato via per paura; e ritornati i messaggi nunciarono al re.	15 They followed the Arameans as far as the Jordan, and the whole route was strewn with garments and other objects that the Arameans had thrown away in their haste. The messengers returned and told the king.
16 E uscito il popolo rubarono il campo de' Siri; e fu trovato il moggio della semola per uno statere, e due moggia di orzo per uno statere, secondo la parola di Dio.	16 The people went out and plundered the camp of the Arameans; and then a seah of fine flour sold for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel, as the LORD had said.
17 E il re ordinò che questo capitano, in cui mano istava (il fatto del re), istesse alla porta; il quale fu conculcato dal popolo all' entrare della porta, e fu morto, sì come avea detto l'uomo di Dio, quando il re era andato a lui.	17 The king put in charge of the gate the officer who was his adjutant; but the people trampled him to death at the gate, just as the man of God had predicted when the king visited him.
18 Onde secondo la parola dell' uomo di Dio intervenne, la quale disse al re: uno moggio di semola si troverà per uno statere, e due moggia di orzo per uno statere, domane in questo medesimo tempo nella porta di Samaria.	18 Thus was fulfilled the prophecy of the man of God to the king, "Two seahs of barley will sell for a shekel, and one seah of fine flour for a shekel at this time tomorrow at the gate of Samaria."
19 E questo capitano avea resposto all' uomo di Dio, e avea detto: eziandio se il Signore aprisse in cielo cateratte, come potrebbe essere quello che tu di'? E disse a lui: tu il vederai con gli occhi tuoi, e non mangerai di quelle cose.	19 The adjutant had answered the man of God, "Even if the LORD were to make windows in heaven, how could this happen?" And Elisha had replied, "You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat of it."
20 E intervennegli sì come gli era istato predetto; e conculcollo il popolo nella porta (di Samaria), e fu morto.	20 And that is what happened to him, for the people trampled him to death at the gate.
