1 E Atalia madre di Ocazia, veggendo morto il suo figliuolo, levossi e uccise tutto il seme regale.	1 And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.
2 Ma tolse Iosaba figliuola del re Ioram, suora di Ocozia, Ioas figliuolo di Ocozia; e furollo di mezzo de' figliuoli del re i quali si uccidevano, e ancora la sua baila di casa; e nascoselo dal cospetto di Atalia, acciò che non fosse morto.	2 But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah and stole him from among the king's sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.
3 Ed era con essa nascosto nella casa di Dio sei anni. E Atalia regnò sopra la terra.	3 And he was with her hid in the house of the LORD six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.
4 Nel settimo anno mandò Ioiada, e togliendo i centurioni e i cavalieri, menogli dentro nella casa di Dio con seco, e fece patto con esso loro; e aggiurogli nella casa di Dio, e mostrolli il figliuolo del re.	4 And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the LORD, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the LORD, and shewed them the king's son.
5 E comandò loro dicendo: questo è quello che voi dovete fare.	5 And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king's house;
6 La terza parte di voi entri il sabato, e faccia la guardia della casa del re; e la terza parte istia alla porta di Sur; e la terza parte stia alla porta, la quale è dopo la casa di quelli che conservano le scuda; e farete la guardia alla casa di Messa.	6 And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.
7 E due parti di voi uscirete il sabato, e farete la guardia della casa di Dio d'intorno al re.	7 And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the LORD about the king.
8 E circondatelo avendo l'arme in mano; e qualunque entrerà entro al circuito del tempio, sia morto; e sarete con esso il re e entrando e uscendo.	8 And ye shall compass the king around about, every man with his weapons in his hand: and he that cometh within the ranges, let him be slain: and be ye with the king as he goeth out and as he cometh in.
9 E fecero i centurioni secondo tutto quello che disse loro Ioiada sacerdote; e togliendo ciascuno gli uomini suoi, coloro che entravano il sabato con quelli che uscivano il sabato, andàronsene a Ioiada.	9 And the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.
10 Ed egli donò loro lancie, e l' arme di David, le quali erano nel tempio.	10 And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David's spears and shields, that were in the temple of the LORD.
11 E ciascuno stette con l'arme in mano dalla parte diritta del tempio, insino alla sinistra dell' altare e della casa, intorno al re.	11 And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple.
12 E menò fuori il figliuolo del re, e puosegli la corona in capo e il testimonio; e fecerlo re, e sì lo unseno; e giugnendo le mani dissero: viva il re.	12 And he brought forth the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.
13 E Atalia udì la voce del popolo che correa; ed entrata nel tempio al popolo,	13 And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the LORD.
14 vide il re istare sopra la sedia secondo l'usanza, e' cantori e il popolo presso a lui; e tutto il popolo si rallegravano e sonavano le trombe; e squarciò le vestimenta sue e gridò: congiurazione, congiurazione.	14 And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason.
15 Comandò Ioiada a' centurioni, i quali erano sopra lo esercito, e disse loro: traetela fuori del circuito del tempio, e qualunque la seguiterà, sia morto. E disse il sacerdote: non sia morta nel tempio del Signore.	15 But Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and said unto them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of the LORD.
16 E puosero le mani sopra lei, e spinserla per la via dell' entrata de' cavalli presso al palagio, e ivi fu morta.	16 And they laid hands on her; and she went by the way by the which the horses came into the king's house: and there was she slain.
17 E fece Ioiada patto tra Iddio e il re e il popolo, che fosse popolo del Signore; e fra il re e il popolo.	17 And Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and the people that they should be the LORD's people; between the king also and the people.
18 Ed entrò tutto il popolo nel tempio di Baal, e disfeceno l'altare suo, e le imagini minuzzarono; e Matan sacerdote di Baal uccisero dinanzi all' altare. E puose il sacerdote guardie nella casa di Dio.	18 And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the LORD.
19 E tolse gli centurioni, e quelli che guardassero il capo del re, e le compagnie, e tutto il popolo della terra; e menarono il re della casa di Dio, e pervennero per la via, della porta di quelli dalle scuda al palagio; e sedeo sopra la sedia reale.	19 And he took the rulers over hundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of the LORD, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king's house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.
20 E rallegrossi tutto il popolo della terra, e la città riposò; e Atalia fu uccisa di coltello nella casa del re.	20 And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah with the sword beside the king's house.
21 Ed era Ioas di sette anni, quando incominciò a regnare.	21 Seven years old was Jehoash when he began to reign.
