1 Continue to love each other like brothers, |
הַכְנָסַת אֹרְחִים אַל־תִּשְׁכָּחוּ כִּי־יֵשׁ אֲשֶׁר הִכְנִיסוּ־בָהּ מַלְאָכִים וְלֹא יָדָעוּ | 2 and remember always to welcome strangers, for by doing this, some people have entertained angelswithout knowing it. |
זִכְרוּ אֶת־הָאֲסוּרִים כְּאִלּוּ אַתֶּם אֲסוּרִים עִמָּהֶם וְאֵת הַנִּלְחָצִים בַּאֲשֶׁר גַּם־אַתֶּם בַּבָּשָׂר | 3 Keep in mind those who are in prison, as though you were in prison with them; and those who arebeing badly treated, since you too are in the body. |
הָאִישׁוּת תִּיקַר בַּכֹּל וְעֶרֶשׂ יְצוּעֲכֶם אַל־יְחֻלָּל אֶת־הַזֹּנִים וְאֶת־הַמְנָאֲפִים יָדִין אֱלֹהִים | 4 Marriage must be honoured by al , and marriages must be kept undefiled, because the sexuallyimmoral and adulterers wil come under God's judgement. |
רַחֲקוּ מֵאַהֲבַת כֶּסֶף וְשִׂמְחוּ בְחֶלְקְכֶם כִּי הוּא אָמַר לֹא אַרְפְּךָ וְלֹא אֶעֶזְבֶךָּ | 5 Put avarice out of your lives and be content with whatever you have; God himself has said: I shal notfail you or desert you, |
6 and so we can say with confidence: With the Lord on my side, I fear nothing: what can human beingsdo to me? |
זִכְרוּ אֶת־מַנְהִיגֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר־הִגִּידוּ לָכֶם אֶת־דְּבַר הָאֱלֹהִים בִּינוּ לְאַחֲרִית דַּרְכָּם וּלְכוּ בֶּאֱמוּנָתָם | 7 Remember your leaders, who preached the word of God to you, and as you reflect on the outcome oftheir lives, take their faith as your model. |
8 Jesus Christ is the same today as he was yesterday and as he wil be for ever. |
אַל־תִּנּוֹעוּ בְּתוֹרוֹת שֹׁנוֹת וְזָרוֹת כִּי טוֹב לְכוֹנֵן לִבֵּנוּ בַּחֶסֶד וְלֹא בְּעִנְיְנֵי מַאֲכָל אֲשֶׁר לֹא הוֹעִילוּ לַמִּתְהַלְּכִים בָּהֶם | 9 Do not be led astray by al sorts of strange doctrines: it is better to rely on grace for inner strength thanon food, which has done no good to those who concentrate on it. |
10 We have our own altar from which those who serve the Tent have no right to eat. |
כִּי־הַבְּהֵמוֹת אֲשֶׁר הוּבָא דָמָן בַּקֹּדֶשׁ לְכַפָּרַת הַחֵטְא עַל־יְדֵי הַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל גְּוִיּוֹתֵיהֶן נִשְׂרְפוּ מִחוּץ לַמַּחֲנֶה | 11 The bodies of the animals whose blood is taken into the sanctuary by the high priest for the rite ofexpiation are burnt outside the camp, |
12 and so Jesus too suffered outside the gate to sanctify the people with his own blood. |
13 Let us go to him, then, outside the camp, and bear his humiliation. |
14 There is no permanent city for us here; we are looking for the one which is yet to be. |
לָכֵן נַקְרִיב עַל־יָדוֹ בְּכָל־עֵת זֶבַח תּוֹדָה לֵאלֹהִים הִיא־פְרִי שְׂפָתַיִם הַמּוֹדוֹת לִשְׁמוֹ | 15 Through him, let us offer God an unending sacrifice of praise, the fruit of the lips of those whoacknowledge his name. |
וְאַל־תִּשְׁכְּחוּ לִגְמֹל חֶסֶד וְלָתֵת לָאֶבְיוֹנִים כִּי־זְבָחִים כָּאֵלֶּה יֶעֶרְבוּ לֵאלֹהִים | 16 Keep doing good works and sharing your resources, for these are the kinds of sacrifice that pleaseGod. |
שִׁמְעוּ אֶל־מַנְהִיגֵיכֶם וְהִכָּנְעוּ מִפְּנֵיהֶם כִּי־שֹׁקְדִים הֵם עַל־נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם כַּעֲתִידִים לָתֵת חֶשְׁבּוֹן לְמַעַן יַעֲשֹוּ־זֹאת בְּשִׂמְחָה וְלֹא בַאֲנָחָה כִּי זֹאת לֹא־לְהוֹעִיל לָכֶם | 17 Obey your leaders and give way to them; they watch over your souls because they must give anaccount of them; make this a joy for them to do, and not a grief -- you yourselves would be the losers. |
הִתְפַּלְלוּ בַּעֲדֵנוּ כִּי יָדַעְנוּ אֲשֶׁר שְׁלֵמָה מַחֲשַׁבְתֵּנוּ וְנַחְפֹּץ לָלֶכֶת דֶּרֶךְ יְשָׁרָה בַּכֹּל | 18 Pray for us; we are sure that our own conscience is clear and we are certainly determined to behavehonourably in everything we do. |
19 I ask you very particularly to pray that I may come back to you all the sooner. |
וֵאלֹהֵי הַשָּׁלוֹם אֲשֶׁר בְּדַם בְּרִית עוֹלָם הֶעֱלָה מִן־הַמֵּתִים אֶת־רֹעֵה הַצֹּאן הַגָּדוֹל אֶת־יֵשׁוּעַ אֲדֹנֵינוּ | 20 I pray that the God of peace, who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd ofthe sheep, by the blood that sealed an eternal covenant, |
הוּא יַשְׁלִימְכֶם בְּכָל־מַעֲשֶׂה טוֹב לַעֲשׂוֹת רְצוֹנוֹ בְּפָעֳלוֹ בָכֶם אֶת־הָרָצוּי לְפָנָיו בְּיַד־יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ הַכָּבוֹד לְעוֹלְמֵי עוֹלָמִים אָמֵן | 21 may prepare you to do his wil in every kind of good action; effecting in us al whatever is acceptableto himself through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. |
וַאֲבַקֵּשׁ מִכֶּם אַחַי שְׂאוּ־נָא דְּבַר הַתּוֹכֵחָה כִּי כָתַבְתִּי אֲלֵיכֶם בִּקְצָרָה | 22 I urge you, brothers, to take these words of encouragement kindly; that is why I have written to youbriefly. |
וּדְעוּ כִּי טִימוֹתִיּוֹס אָחִינוּ יָצָא מִבֵּית הָאֲסוּרִים וְהָיָה אִם־יָבֹא בִמְהֵרָה אֶרְאֶה אִתּוֹ אֶת־פְּנֵיכֶם | 23 I want you to know that our brother Timothy has been set free. If he arrives in time, he will be with mewhen I see you. |
שַׁאֲלוּ לִשְׁלוֹם כָּל־מַנְהִיגֵיכֶם וְלִשְׁלוֹם כָּל־הַקְּדשִׁים בְּנֵי אֶרֶץ אִיטַלְיָא שֹׁאֲלִים לִשְׁלוֹמְכֶם | 24 Greetings to al your leaders and to al God's holy people. God's holy people in Italy send yougreetings. |
25 Grace be with you al . |
