SMITH VAN DYKE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 وشاور داود قواد الالوف والمئات وكل رئيس	1 David conferred with the commanders of the thousands and the hundreds, in fact with al the leaders.
2 وقال داود لكل جماعة اسرائيل ان حسن عندكم وكان ذلك من الرب الهنا فلنرسل الى كل جهة الى اخوتنا الباقين في كل اراضي اسرائيل ومعهم الكهنة واللاويون في مدن مسارحهم ليجتمعوا الينا	2 Then, to the whole assembly of Israel, David said, 'If this has your approval, and if Yahweh our Godwil s it so, we shal send messengers to the rest of our brothers throughout the territories of Israel, and also tothe priests and Levites in their towns and pasture lands, bidding them join us.
3 فنرجع تابوت الهنا الينا لاننا لم نسأل به في ايام شاول.	3 And then we will go and recover the ark of our God, for in the days of Saul we neglected to do it.'
4 فقال كل الجماعة بان يفعلوا ذلك لان الأمر حسن في اعين جميع الشعب.	4 The whole assembly agreed to this, because al the people thought that this was the right thing to do.
5 وجمع داود كل اسرائيل من شيحور مصر الى مدخل حماة ليأتوا بتابوت الله من قرية يعاريم.	5 So David summoned al Israel from the Shihor of Egypt to the Pass of Hamath, to bring the ark of Godfrom Kiriath-Jearim.
6 وصعد داود وكل اسرائيل الى بعلة الى قرية يعاريم التي ليهوذا ليصعدوا من هناك تابوت الله الرب الجالس على الكروبيم الذي دعي بالاسم.	6 David and al Israel then went up to Baalah, to Kiriath-Jearim in Judah, from there to bring up the arkof God, which bears the title 'Yahweh enthroned on the winged creatures'.
7 واركبوا تابوت الله على عجلة جديدة من بيت ابيناداب وكان عزّا واخيو يسوقان العجلة	7 They transported the ark of God out of Abinadab's house on a new cart. Uzzah and Ahio drove thecart.
8 وداود وكل اسرائيل يلعبون امام الله بكل عزّ وباغاني وعيدان ورباب ودفوف وصنوج وابواق.	8 David and al Israel danced before God with al their might, singing to the accompaniment of harps,lyres, tambourines, cymbals and trumpets.
9 ولما انتهوا الى بيدر كيدون مدّ عزّا يده ليمسك التابوت لان الثيران انشمصت.	9 When they came to the threshing-floor of the Javelin, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark,as the oxen were making it tilt.
10 فحمي غضب الرب على عزّا وضربه من اجل انه مدّ يده الى التابوت فمات هناك امام الله.	10 This roused Yahweh's anger against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he had laid his handon the Ark, and there he died before God.
11 فاغتاظ داود لان الرب اقتحم عزّا اقتحاما وسمّى ذلك الموضع فارص عزّا الى هذا اليوم.	11 David resented Yahweh's having broken out against Uzzah, and the place was given the namePerez-Uzzah, which it stil has today.
12 وخاف داود الله في ذلك اليوم قائلا كيف آتي بتابوت الله اليّ.	12 That day David felt afraid of God. 'How can I bring the ark of God to be with me?' he said.
13 ولم ينقل داود التابوت اليه الى مدينة داود بل مال به الى بيت عوبيد ادوم الجتّي.	13 So David did not take the ark with him into the City of David but had it put in the house of Obed-Edom of Gath.
14 وبقي تابوت الله عند بيت عوبيد ادوم في بيته ثلاثة اشهر وبارك الرب بيت عوبيد ادوم وكل ما له	14 The ark of God remained with Obed-Edom, in his house, for three months, and Yahweh blessedObed-Edom's family and everything that belonged to him.
