1 "Estas são as leis que exporás {aos israelitas}:	1 “These are the judgments which you shall place before them:
2 quando comprares um escravo hebreu, ele servirá seis anos; no sétimo sairá livre, sem pagar nada.	2 If you buy a Hebrew servant, six years shall he serve you; in the seventh, he shall depart freely, without charge.
3 Se entrou sozinho, sozinho sairá; se tiver mulher, sua mulher partirá com ele.	3 With whatever clothing he arrived, with the like let him depart. If he has a wife, his wife also shall depart, at the same time.
4 Mas, se foi o seu senhor que lhe deu uma mulher, e esta deu à luz filhos e filhas, a mulher e seus filhos serão propriedade do senhor, e ele partirá sozinho.	4 But if his lord gave him a wife, and she has borne sons and daughters, the woman and her children shall belong to her lord. Yet still, he himself will go out with his clothing.
5 Porém, se o escravo disser: ?Eu amo meu senhor, minha mulher e meus filhos; não quero ser alforriado?,	5 And if the servant will say, ‘I love my lord, and my wife and children, I will not depart freely,’
6 seu senhor o levará então diante de Deus e o fará aproximar-se do batente ou da ombreira da porta, e furar-lhe-á a orelha com uma sovela; desta sorte o escravo estará para sempre a seu serviço.	6 then his lord shall make an offering for him to the heavens, and it shall be applied to the door and the posts, and he will pierce his ear with an awl. And he shall be his servant in perpetuity.
7 Se um homem tiver vendido sua filha para ser escrava, ela não sairá em liberdade nas mesmas condições que o escravo.	7 If anyone sells his daughter to be a servant, she shall not depart as a female servant is accustomed to go out.
8 Se desagradar ao seu senhor, que a havia destinado para si, ele a fará resgatar; mas não poderá vendê-la a estrangeiros depois de lhe ter sido infiel.	8 If she displeases the eyes of her lord, to whom she had been delivered, he shall dismiss her. But he shall have no authority to sell her to a foreign people, even if he despises her.
9 Se a destinar ao seu filho, tratá-la-á segundo o direito das filhas.	9 But if he has betrothed her to his son, he shall treat her according to the custom with daughters.
10 Se tomar outra mulher, não diminuirá nada à primeira, quanto à alimentação, aos vestidos e ao direito conjugal.	10 And if he takes another for him, he shall provide to the maiden a marriage, and clothing, and he shall not refuse the price of her chastity.
11 Se lhe recusar uma destas três coisas, ela poderá partir livre, gratuitamente, sem pagar nada."	11 If he does not do these three things, she shall depart freely, without money.
12 "Aquele que ferir mortalmente um homem, será morto.	12 Whoever strikes a man, intending to murder, shall be put to death.
13 Porém, se nada premeditou, e Deus o fez cair em suas mãos, eu lhe fixarei um lugar onde possa refugiar-se.	13 But if he did not lie in wait for him, but God delivered him into his hands, then I will appoint for you a place to which he must flee.
14 Mas, se alguém, por maldade, armar ciladas para matar o seu próximo, tirá-lo-ás até mesmo do meu altar, para matá-lo.	14 If someone murders his neighbor with deliberation, by lying in wait, you shall tear him away from my altar, so that he may die.
15 Aquele que ferir seu pai ou sua mãe, será morto.	15 Whoever strikes his father or mother shall die a death.
16 Aquele que furtar um homem, e o tiver vendido, ou se este for encontrado em suas mãos, será morto.	16 Whoever will have stolen a man and sold him, having been convicted of the crime, shall be put to death.
17 Quem amaldiçoar seu pai ou sua mãe, será punido de morte.	17 Whoever speaks evil of his father or mother shall die a death.
18 Quando, em uma contenda entre dois homens, um dos dois ferir o outro com uma pedra ou com o punho, sem matá-lo, mas o obrigar a ficar de cama,	18 If men will have quarreled, and one of them has struck his neighbor with a stone or a fist, and he does not die, but lies in bed,
19 aquele que feriu não será punido, se o outro se levantar e puder passear fora com seu bastão. Mas indenizá-lo-á pelo tempo que perdeu e os remédios que gastou.	19 if he gets up again and can walk outside on his staff, he who struck him will be innocent, but only if he makes sufficient restitution for his deeds and for the cost of the physicians.
20 Se um homem ferir seu escravo ou sua escrava com um bastão, de modo que ele morra sob sua mão, será punido.	20 Whoever strikes his male or female servant with a staff, and if they have died by his hands, he shall be guilty of a crime.
21 Se o escravo, porém, sobreviver um dia ou dois, não será punido, porque ele é propriedade do seu senhor.	21 But if he survives for one day or two, he shall not be subject to punishment, because it is his money.
22 Se homens brigarem, e acontecer que venham a ferir uma mulher grávida, e esta der à luz sem nenhum dano, eles serão passíveis de uma indenização imposta pelo marido da mulher, e que pagarão diante dos juízes.	22 If men will have quarreled, and one of them has struck a pregnant woman, and as a result she miscarries, but she herself survives, he shall be subject to as much damage as the husband of the woman shall petition from him, or as arbitrators shall judge.
23 Mas, se houver outros danos, urge dar vida por vida,	23 But if her death will have followed, he will repay a life for a life,
24 olho por olho, dente por dente, mão por mão, pé por pé,	24 an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, a foot for a foot,
25 queimadura por queimadura, ferida por ferida, golpe por golpe.	25 a scrape for a scrape, a wound for a wound, a bruise for a bruise.
26 Se um homem, ferindo seu escravo ou sua escrava, atinge-lhe o olho e o faz perdê-lo, deixá-lo-á ir livre em compensação de seu olho.	26 If anyone will have struck the eye of his male or female servant, having left them with one eye, he shall release them freely, because of the eye that he has put out.
27 E, se lhe deitar fora um dente, deixá-lo-á ir livre em compensação do dente.	27 Likewise, if he knocks out a tooth of his male or female servant, he shall similarly release them freely.
28 Se um boi ferir mortalmente um homem ou uma mulher com as pontas dos chifres, será apedrejado e não se comerá a sua carne; mas o dono do boi não será punido.	28 If an ox has struck a man or a woman with his horn, and if they die, it shall be stoned. And its flesh shall not be eaten; also, the owner of the ox will be innocent.
29 Porém, se o boi era já acostumado a dar chifradas, e o dono, tendo sido avisado, não o vigiou, o boi será apedrejado, se matar um homem ou uma mulher, e seu dono também morrerá.	29 But if the ox had been pushing with his horn, from yesterday and the day before, and they warned his owner, but he did not confine it, and it will have killed a man or a woman, then the ox shall be stoned, and his owner shall be killed.
30 Se, para resgatar sua vida, lhe for imposta uma quitação, ele deverá dar todo o preço que lhe tiver sido imposto.	30 But if they have imposed a price on him, he shall give, in exchange for his life, whatever is asked.
31 Se o boi ferir um filho ou uma filha, aplicar-se-á a mesma lei.	31 Likewise, if it has struck a son or a daughter with its horns, it shall be subject to a similar verdict.
32 Mas, se ferir um escravo ou uma escrava, pagar-se-á ao seu senhor trinta siclos de prata, e o boi será apedrejado.	32 If it attacks a male or female servant, he shall give thirty shekels of silver to their lord, yet truly the ox shall be stoned.
33 Se alguém deixar uma cisterna aberta ou cavar uma sem cobri-la, e nela cair um boi ou um jumento, o proprietário da cisterna pagará uma indenização:	33 If a man digs or opens a cistern, and does not cover it, and an ox or a donkey falls into it,
34 reembolsará em dinheiro o proprietário do animal morto, e este será seu.	34 then the owner of the cistern shall repay the price of the beasts, and what is dead will belong to him.
35 Se o boi de alguém der uma chifrada no boi de um outro, e este vier a morrer, venderão o boi vivo e repartirão o valor: repartirão igualmente o boi morto.	35 If the ox of a stranger wounds the ox of another, and it has died, then they shall sell the live ox and divide the price, but the carcass of the dead one they shall distribute between them.
36 Mas, se o boi era já acostumado a dar chifradas, seu dono, que não o vigiou, pagará boi por boi, e receberá o animal morto."	36 But if he knew that his ox had pushed with its horns, yesterday and the day before, and its owner did not confine it, then he shall repay an ox for an ox, and he will receive the whole carcass.”
