Proverbi 2

LA SACRA BIBBIA	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Figlio mio, se accoglierai le mie parole e conserverai con te i miei precetti,	1 My son, if you would accept my words, and conceal my commandments within you,
2 volgendo alla sapienza il tuo orecchio, inclinerai il tuo cuore all'intelligenza;	2 so that your ears may listen to wisdom, then bend your heart in order to know prudence.
3 anzi se farai appello all'acutezza, all'intelligenza rivolgendo il tuo grido;	3 For if you would call upon wisdom and bend your heart to prudence,
4 se la ricercherai come l'argento e come un tesoro l'andrai scovando:	4 if you will seek her like money, and dig for her as if for treasure,
5 allora scoprirai il timore del Signore e la scienza di Dio tu troverai.	5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and you will discover the knowledge of God.
6 Veramente il Signore dona sapienza, dalla sua bocca viene scienza e intelligenza.	6 For the Lord bestows wisdom, and out of his mouth, prudence and knowledge.
7 Egli riserva ai retti l'assistenza, scudo per chi cammina integramente.	7 He will preserve the salvation of the righteous, and he will protect those who walk in simplicity:
8 Proteggendo le vie della giustizia custodisce il cammino dei suoi amici.	8 serving the paths of justice, and guarding the ways of sanctity.
9 Allora comprenderai la giustizia e il diritto, l'equità e ogni via della felicità.	9 Then you shall understand justice and judgment, and equity, and every good path.
10 Quando sarà entrata la sapienza nel tuo cuore e la scienza avrà deliziato la tua anima,	10 If wisdom is to enter into your heart, and if knowledge is to become pleasing to your soul,
11 la prudenza veglierà su te e l'assennatezza ti custodirà,	11 then counsel must guard you, and prudence must serve you,
12 strappandoti dalla via del male, dall'uomo dalle idee perverse,	12 so that you may be rescued from the evil way, and from the man who speaks perversities,
13 da quelli che abbandonano le vie diritte per mettersi nelle vie oscure,	13 from those who leave the straight path to walk in dark ways,
14 che si dilettano a fare il male, esultano nelle perversità del male,	14 who rejoice when they have done evil, and who exult in the most wicked things.
15 devìano i propri sentieri, sviano nei loro cammini;	15 Their ways are perverse, and their steps are infamous.
16 strappandoti dalla donna altrui, dalla straniera che sa adoperare parole melliflue,	16 So may you be rescued from the foreign woman, and from the outsider, who softens her speech,
17 che ha lasciato il compagno della sua giovinezza e ha dimenticato il patto del suo Dio.	17 and who leaves behind the Guide of her youth,
18 Veramente la sua casa va verso la morte e verso le ombre i suoi sentieri.	18 and who has forgotten the covenant of her God. For her household inclines toward death, and her paths toward Hell.
19 Chi si incammina verso di lei non ritorna indietro e non raggiunge i sentieri della vita.	19 All those who enter to her will not return again, nor will they take hold of the paths of life.
20 Così camminerai per la via dei buoni e i sentieri dei giusti tu custodirai.	20 So may you walk in the good way, and keep to the difficult paths of the just.
21 Sì, i retti dimoreranno nel paese, i puri vi saranno lasciati.	21 For those who are upright shall live upon the earth, and the simple shall continue upon it.
22 Gli empi invece saranno cancellati, i fedifraghi saranno sradicati.	22 Yet truly, the impious shall perish from the earth, and those who act unjustly shall be taken away from it.
