LA SACRA BIBBIA	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Il Signore disse a Noè: "Entra nell'arca tu e tutta la tua famiglia, poiché ti ho visto giusto dinanzi a me, in questa generazione.	1 And the Lord said to him: Go in thou and all thy house into the ark: for thee I have seen just before me in this generation.
2 D'ogni animale puro prendine sette coppie, maschio e femmina; invece dell'animale impuro una coppia: maschio e femmina;	2 Of all clean beasts take seven and seven, the male and female.
3 anche degli uccelli del cielo sette coppie, maschio e femmina, sicché la razza sopravviva sulla faccia di tutta la terra;	3 But of the beasts that are unclean two and two, the male and female. Of the fowls also of the air seven and seven,the male and the female: that seed may be saved upon the face of the whole earth.
4 perché fra sette giorni io farò piovere sulla terra per quaranta giorni e quaranta notti e sterminerò dalla superficie della terra ogni creatura che ho fatto".	4 For yet a while, and after seven days, I will rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and I will destroy every substance that I have made, from the face of the earth.
5 Noè fece tutto come il Signore aveva ordinato.	5 And Noe did all things which the Lord had commanded him.
6 Noè aveva seicento anni, quando avvenne il diluvio delle acque sulla terra.	6 And he was six hundred years old, when the waters of the flood overflowed the earth.
7 Entrò dunque Noè e i suoi figli, sua moglie e le mogli dei suoi figli nell'arca per sottrarsi alle acque del diluvio.	7 And Noe went in and his sons, his wife and the wives of his sons with him into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
8 Degli animali puri e degli animali impuri, dei volatili e di tutti gli esseri che strisciano sul suolo	8 And of the beasts clean and unclean, and of fowls, and of every thing that moveth upon the earth,
9 vennero, a due a due, da Noè nell'arca, maschio e femmina, come Dio aveva comandato a Noè.	9 Two and two went in to Noe into the ark, male and female, as the Lord had commanded Noe.
10 E avvenne, al settimo giorno, che le acque del diluvio furono sopra la terra;	10 And after seven days were passed, the waters of the flood overflowed the earth.
11 nell'anno seicentesimo della vita di Noè, nel secondo mese, nel diciassettesimo giorno del mese, proprio in quel giorno, eruppero tutte le sorgenti del grande oceano e le cateratte del cielo si aprirono.	11 In the six hundreth year of the life of Noe in the second month, in the seventeenth day of the month, all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the flood gates of heaven were open:
12 E la pioggia cadde sulla terra per quaranta giorni e quaranta notti.	12 And the rain fell upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
13 In quello stesso giorno entrarono nell'arca Noè e Sem, Cam e Iafet, figli di Noè, e la moglie di Noè e le tre mogli dei suoi tre figli;	13 In the selfsame day Noe, and Sem, and Cham, and Japheth his sons: his wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, went into the ark:
14 essi insieme a tutte le fiere, secondo la loro specie, e tutto il bestiame, secondo la sua specie, e tutti i rettili che strisciano sulla terra, secondo la loro specie, e tutti i volatili, secondo la loro specie, uccelli tutti alati.	14 They and every beast according to its kind, and all the cattle in their kind, and every thing that moveth upon the earth according to its kind, and every fowl according to its kind, and every fowl according to its kind, all birds, and all that fly.
15 Vennero dunque a Noè nell'arca, a due a due, di ogni carne in cui è il soffio di vita.	15 Went in to Noe into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein was the breath of life.
16 E quelli che venivano, maschio e femmina d'ogni carne, entrarono come Dio gli aveva comandato; poi il Signore chiuse la porta dietro di lui.	16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in on the outside.
17 Il diluvio venne sopra la terra per quaranta giorni: le acque ingrossarono e sollevarono l'arca che si alzò sopra la terra;	17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth, and the waters increased, and lifted up the ark on high from earth.
18 e le acque divennero poderose e ingrossarono assai sopra la terra e l'arca galleggiava sulla superficie delle acque.	18 For they overflowed exceedingly: and filled all on the face of the earth: and the ark was carried upon the waters.
19 E le acque aumentarono sempre più sopra la terra e coprirono tutti i più alti monti che sono sotto tutto il cielo.	19 And the waters prevailed beyond measure upon the earth: and all the high mountains under the whole heaven were covered.
20 Di quindici cubiti di altezza le acque superarono e copersero i monti.	20 The water was fifteen cubits higher than the mountains which it covered.
21 E perì ogni carne strisciante sulla terra: volatili, bestiame e fiere e tutti gli esseri brulicanti sulla terra e tutti gli uomini,	21 And all flesh was destroyed that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beasts, and of all creeping things that creep upon the earth: and all men.
22 ogni essere che ha un alito, uno spirito di vita nelle sue narici, fra tutto ciò che è sulla terra asciutta, morì.	22 And all things wherein there is the breath of life on the earth, died.
23 Così fu sterminata ogni creatura esistente sulla faccia del suolo, dagli uomini agli animali domestici, ai rettili e agli uccelli del cielo: essi furono sterminati dalla terra e rimase solo Noè e chi stava con lui nell'arca.	23 And he destroyed all the substance that was upon the earth, from man to beast, and the creeping things and fowls of the air: and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noe only remained, and they that were with him in the ark.
24 Le acque si mantennero sopra la terra per centocinquanta giorni.	24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days.
