Seconda lettera ai Corinzi 3

1 - Cominciamo di nuovo a raccomandare noi stessi? o forse abbiam bisogno come alcuni di commendatizie scritte a voi o da voi?	1 Are we beginning to commend ourselves to you afresh -- as though we needed, like some others, tohave letters of commendation either to you or from you?
2 Siete voi la nostra lettera, scritta nei nostri cuori, conosciuta e letta da tutti gli uomini,	2 You yourselves are our letter, written in our hearts, that everyone can read and understand;
3 essendo manifesto che voi siete una lettera di Cristo, di cui noi fummo i ministri, scritta, non coll'inchiostro, ma collo Spirito di Dio, vivo, non su tavole di pietra ma su tavole consistenti in cuori di carne.	3 and it is plain that you are a letter from Christ, entrusted to our care, written not with ink but with theSpirit of the living God; not on stone tablets but on the tablets of human hearts.
4 Tale fiducia noi l'abbiamo in Dio mediante il Cristo.	4 Such is the confidence we have through Christ in facing God;
5 Non che da noi stessi siamo in grado di pensare alcunchè come fosse da noi, ma la sufficienza nostra vien da Dio,	5 it is not that we are so competent that we can claim any credit for ourselves; al our competence comesfrom God.
6 il quale ci ha anche fatti idonei a essere ministri d'un Nuovo Patto, non di lettera ma di spirito: poichè la lettera uccide e lo spirito vivifica.	6 He has given us the competence to be ministers of a new covenant, a covenant which is not of writtenletters, but of the Spirit; for the written letters kill, but the Spirit gives life.
7 Che se il ministero della morte espresso in lettere su pietre fu glorioso, tanto da non potere i figli d'Israele guardar fisso alla faccia di Mosè per lo splendore pur non durevole della faccia di lui,	7 Now if the administering of death, engraved in letters on stone, occurred in such glory that the Israelitescould not look Moses steadily in the face, because of its glory, transitory though this glory was,
8 come non sarà molto più glorioso il ministero dello spirito?	8 how much more will the ministry of the Spirit occur in glory!
9 Poichè se fa gloria il ministero della condanna, di gran lunga in gloria prevale il ministero della giustizia.	9 For if it is glorious to administer condemnation, to administer saving justice is far richer in glory.
10 Per questo rispetto non si può neanche dir glorificato quel che è stato glorificato [prima con Mosè], e ciò per la tanto maggior gloria [d'ora di Cristo];	10 Indeed, what was once considered glorious has lost al claim to glory, by contrast with the glory whichtranscends it.
11 se ciò ch'era non durevole ebbe luce di gloria, tanto più è in gloria quel che è permanente!	11 For if what was transitory had any glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts for ever.
12 Avendo dunque siffatta speranza, noi ci valiamo di molta franchezza di parola,	12 With a hope like this, we can speak with complete fearlessness;
13 e non facciamo come Mosè che si metteva un velo sul viso perchè i figli d'Israele non fissassero lo sguardo al fine di cosa non durevole.	13 not like Moses who put a veil over his face so that the Israelites should not watch the end of what wastransitory.
14 Senonchè si sono indurate le menti loro; infatti fino al giorno d'oggi lo stesso velo rimane, durante la lettura dell'Antico Testamento, non rimosso, perchè in Cristo soltanto si annulla.	14 But their minds were closed; indeed, until this very day, the same veil remains over the reading of theOld Testament: it is not lifted, for only in Christ is it done away with.
15 Anzi fino ad oggi quando si legge ad essi Mosè, un velo giace sopra il loro cuore;	15 As it is, to this day, whenever Moses is read, their hearts are covered with a veil,
16 ma non appena ci si volge al Signore, il velo si alza.	16 and this veil wil not be taken away til they turn to the Lord.
17 E il Signore è lo Spirito, e dove è lo Spirito del Signore ivi è libertà.	17 Now this Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
18 Noi tutti col viso scoperto, riflettendo come in ispecchio la gloria del Signore, ci trasformiamo nella stessa immagine di gloria in gloria, come per opera dello Spirito del Signore.	18 And al of us, with our unveiled faces like mirrors reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformedinto the image that we reflect in brighter and brighter glory; this is the working of the Lord who is the Spirit.
