2 Thessalonians 2

1 But we ask you, brothers, concerning the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ and of our gathering to him,	1 No que diz respeito à vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e nossa reunião com ele, rogamo-vos, irmãos,
2 that you not be readily disturbed or terrified in your minds, by any spirit, or word, or epistle, supposedly sent from us, claiming that the day of the Lord is close by.	2 não vos deixeis facilmente perturbar o espírito e alarmar-vos, nem por alguma pretensa revelação nem por palavra ou carta tidas como procedentes de nós e que vos afirmassem estar iminente o dia do Senhor.
3 Let no one deceive you in any way. For this cannot be, unless the apostasy will have arrived first, and the man of sin will have been revealed, the son of perdition,	3 Ninguém de modo algum vos engane. Porque primeiro deve vir a apostasia, e deve manifestar-se o homem da iniqüidade, o filho da perdição,
4 who is an adversary to, and who is lifted up above, all that is called God or that is worshipped, so much so that he sits in the temple of God, presenting himself as if he were God.	4 o adversário, aquele que se levanta contra tudo o que é divino e sagrado, a ponto de tomar lugar no templo de Deus, e apresentar-se como se fosse Deus.
5 Do you not recall that, when I was still with you, I told you these things?	5 Não vos lembrais de que vos dizia estas coisas, quando estava ainda convosco?
6 And now you know what it is that holds him back, so that he may be revealed in his own time.	6 Agora, sabeis perfeitamente que algo o detém, de modo que ele só se manifestará a seu tempo.
7 For the mystery of iniquity is already at work. And only one now holds back, and will continue to hold back, until he is taken from our midst.	7 Porque o mistério da iniqüidade já está em ação, apenas esperando o desaparecimento daquele que o detém.
8 And then that iniquitous one shall be revealed, the one whom the Lord Jesus shall bring to ruin with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy at the brightness of his return:	8 Então o tal ímpio se manifestará. Mas o Senhor Jesus o destruirá com o sopro de sua boca e o aniquilará com o resplendor da sua vinda.
9 him whose advent is accompanied by the works of Satan, with every kind of power and signs and false miracles,	9 A manifestação do ímpio será acompanhada, graças ao poder de Satanás, de toda a sorte de portentos, sinais e prodígios enganadores.
10 and with every seduction of iniquity, toward those who are perishing because they have not accepted the love of truth, so that they may be saved. For this reason, God will send to them works of deception, so that they may believe in lies,	10 Ele usará de todas as seduções do mal com aqueles que se perdem, por não terem cultivado o amor à verdade que os teria podido salvar.
11 in order that all those who have not believed in the truth, but who have consented to iniquity, may be judged.	11 Por isso, Deus lhes enviará um poder que os enganará e os induzirá a acreditar no erro.
12 Yet we must always give thanks to God for you, brothers, beloved of God, because God has chosen you as first-fruits for salvation, by the sanctification of the Spirit and by faith in the truth.	12 Desse modo, serão julgados e condenados todos os que não deram crédito à verdade, mas consentiram no mal.
13 He has also called you into truth through our Gospel, unto the acquisition of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.	13 Nós, porém, sentimo-nos na obrigação de incessantemente dar graças a Deus a respeito de vós, irmãos queridos de Deus, porque desde o princípio vos escolheu Deus para vos dar a salvação, pela santificação do Espírito e pela fé na verdade.
14 And so, brothers, stand firm, and hold to the traditions that you have learned, whether by word or by our epistle.	14 E pelo anúncio do nosso Evangelho vos chamou para tomardes parte na glória de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.
15 So may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who has loved us and who has given us an everlasting consolation and good hope in grace,	15 Assim, pois, irmãos, ficai firmes e conservai os ensinamentos que de nós aprendestes, seja por palavras, seja por carta nossa.
16 exhort your hearts and confirm you in every good word and deed.	16 Nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e Deus, nosso Pai, que nos amou e nos deu consolação eterna e boa esperança pela sua graça,
	17 consolem os vossos corações e os confirmem para toda boa obra e palavra!
