1 Thessalonians 5

1 But concerning dates and times, brothers, you do not need us to write to you.	1 Az időről és az óráról azonban, testvérek, szükségtelen írnom nektek.
2 For you yourselves thoroughly understand that the day of the Lord shall arrive much like a thief in the night.	2 Hiszen magatok is igen jól tudjátok, hogy az Úr napja úgy jön el, mint éjjel a tolvaj.
3 For when they will say, “Peace and security!” then destruction will suddenly overwhelm them, like the labor pains of a woman with child, and they will not escape.	3 Amikor azt mondják: »Békesség és biztonság«, éppen akkor szakad rájuk hirtelen a veszedelem, mint a várandós asszonyra a fájdalom, és nem menekülnek meg.
4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness, so that you would be overtaken by that day as by a thief.	4 De ti, testvérek, nem vagytok sötétségben, hogy az a nap tolvaj módjára lepjen meg titeket.
5 For all of you are sons of light and sons of daytime; we are not of nighttime, nor of darkness.	5 Mindnyájan a világosság fiai és a nappal fiai vagytok. Nem vagyunk az éjszakáé, sem a sötétségé.
6 Therefore, let us not sleep, as the rest do. Instead, we should be vigilant and sober.	6 Ne is aludjunk tehát, mint a többiek, hanem legyünk éberek és józanok!
7 For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who are inebriated, are inebriated in the night.	7 Az alvók éjjel alszanak, a részegek éjjel részegednek le.
8 But we, who are of the daylight, should be sober, being clothed with the breastplate of faith and of charity and having, as a helmet, the hope of salvation.	8 Mi azonban, akik a nappaléi vagyunk, legyünk józanok, és öltsük fel a hit és szeretet páncélját, sisak gyanánt pedig az üdvösség reményét .
9 For God has not appointed us for wrath, but for the acquisition of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,	9 Mert Isten nem haragra rendelt, hanem arra, hogy elnyerjük az üdvösséget a mi Urunk, Jézus Krisztus által,
10 who died for us, so that, whether we watch, or whether we sleep, we may live in union with him.	10 aki meghalt értünk, hogy akár ébren vagyunk, akár alszunk, ővele éljünk.
11 Because of this, console one another and build up one another, just as you are doing.	11 Vigasztaljátok tehát egymást, és legyetek egymás épülésére, mint ahogy meg is teszitek.
12 And we ask you, brothers, to recognize those who labor among you, and who preside over you in the Lord, and who admonish you,	12 Kérünk ezenkívül titeket, testvérek, hogy becsüljétek meg azokat, akik fáradoznak közöttetek, akik elöljáróitok az Úrban, és intenek titeket.
13 so that you may consider them with an abundance of charity, for the sake of their work. Be at peace with them.	13 Munkájukért legyetek irántuk különösen nagy szeretettel! Éljetek békességben egymással!
14 And we ask you, brothers: correct the disruptive, console the weak-minded, support the sick, be patient with everyone.	14 Kérünk továbbá titeket, testvérek, feddjétek meg a nyughatatlanokat, bátorítsátok a félénk szívűeket, gyámolítsátok a gyengéket, legyetek türelmesek mindenki iránt!
15 See to it that no one repays evil for evil to anyone. Instead, always pursue whatever is good, with one another and with all.	15 Vigyázzatok, hogy senki rosszért rosszal ne fizessen, hanem mindenkor szolgáljátok egymás és mindenki javát!
16 Rejoice always.	16 Mindig örüljetek!
17 Pray without ceasing.	17 Szüntelenül imádkozzatok!
18 Give thanks in everything. For this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for all of you.	18 Mindenért adjatok hálát, mert ezt várja Isten mindnyájatoktól Krisztus Jézusban.
19 Do not choose to extinguish the Spirit.	19 A Lelket ki ne oltsátok!
20 Do not spurn prophecies.	20 A prófétai beszédet meg ne vessétek!
21 But test all things. Hold on to whatever is good.	21 Mindent vizsgáljatok meg; ami jó, azt tartsátok meg!
22 Abstain from every kind of evil.	22 Mindenfajta rossztól óvakodjatok!
23 And may the God of peace himself sanctify you through all things, so that your whole spirit and soul and body may be preserved without blame unto the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.	23 A békesség Istene szenteljen meg titeket mindenben, és egész lelki valótok, mind a lelketek, mind a testetek maradjon feddhetetlen Urunk, Jézus Krisztus eljövetelére.
24 He who has called you is faithful. He shall act even now.	24 Aki hív titeket, hűséges, tehát meg is valósítja.
25 Brothers, pray for us.	25 Testvérek, imádkozzatok értünk is.
26 Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.	26 Köszöntsetek minden testvért szent csókkal.
27 I bind you, through the Lord, that this epistle is to be read to all the holy brothers.	27 Parancsolom az Úr nevében, hogy ezt a levelet olvassák fel az összes testvérnek.
28 May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.	28 Urunk, Jézus Krisztus kegyelme legyen veletek! Ámen.
