2 Corinthians 8

1 And so we are making known to you, brothers, the grace of God that has been given in the churches of Macedonia.	1 Ahora, hermanos, queremos informarles acerca de la gracia que Dios ha concedido a las Iglesias de Macedonia.
2 For within a great experience of tribulation, they have had an abundance of joy, and their profound poverty has only increased the richness of their simplicity.	2 Porque, a pesar de las grandes tribulaciones con que fueron probadas, la abundancia de su gozo y su extrema pobreza han desbordado en tesoros de generosidad.
3 And I bear witness to them, that they were willing to accept what was in accord with their ability, and even what was beyond their ability.	3 Puedo asegurarles que ellos estaban dispuestos a dar según sus posibilidades y más todavía: por propia iniciativa,
4 For they were begging us, with great exhortation, for the grace and the communication of the ministry that is with the saints.	4 ellos nos pidieron, con viva insistencia, que les permitiéramos participar de este servicio en favor de los hermanos de Jerusalén.
5 And this is beyond what we had hoped, since they gave themselves, first of all to the Lord, and then also to us, through the will of God,	5 Y superando nuestras esperanzas, ellos se entregaron, en primer lugar al Señor, y luego a nosotros, por la voluntad de Dios.
6 so much so that we petitioned Titus, that in the same manner as he had begun, he would also complete in you this same grace.	6 Por eso, hemos rogado a Tito que lleve a feliz término entre ustedes esta obra de generosidad, de la misma manera que la había comenzado.
7 But, just as in all things you abound in faith and in word and in knowledge and in all solicitude, and even more so in your charity toward us, so also may you abound in this grace.	7 Y ya que ustedes se distinguen en todo: en fe, en elocuencia, en ciencia, en toda clase de solicitud por los demás, y en el amor que nosotros les hemos comunicado, espero que también se distingan en generosidad.
8 I am speaking, not commanding. But through the solicitude of others, I approve of the good character of your charity.	8 Esta no es una orden: solamente quiero que manifiesten la sinceridad de su amor, mediante la solicitud por los demás.
9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, he became poor for your sakes, so that through his poverty, you might become rich.	9 Ya conocen la generosidad de nuestro Señor Jesucristo que, siendo rico, se hizo pobre por nosotros, a fin de enriquecernos con su pobreza.
10 And about this, I give my counsel. For this is useful to those of you who, only a year earlier, had just begun to act, or even to be willing to act.	10 Por eso, quiero darles un consejo que les será provechoso, ya que ustedes, el año pasado, fueron los primeros, no sólo en emprender esta obra, sino también en decidir su realización.
11 So, truly now, accomplish this in deed, so that, in the same manner as your willing mind is prompted, you may also act, out of that which you have.	11 Llévenla ahora a término, para que los hechos respondan, según las posibilidades de cada uno, a la decisión de la voluntad.
12 For when the will is prompted, it receives according to what that person has, not according to what that person does not have.	12 Porque cuando existe esa decisión, a uno se lo acepta con lo que tiene y no se hace cuestión de lo que no tiene.
13 And it is not that others should be relieved, while you are troubled, but that there should be an equality.	13 No se trata de que ustedes sufran necesidad para que otros vivan en la abundancia, sino de que haya igualdad.
14 In this present time, let your abundance supply their need, so that their abundance may also supply your need, in order that there may be an equality, just as it was written:	14 En el caso presente, la abundancia de ustedes suple la necesidad de ellos, para que un día, la abundancia de ellos supla la necesidad de ustedes. Así habrá igualdad,
15 “He with more did not have too much; and he with less did not have too little.”	15 de acuerdo con lo que dice la Escritura: El que había recogido mucho no tuvo de sobra, y el que había recogido poco no sufrió escasez.
16 But thanks be to God, who has granted to the heart of Titus, this same solicitude for you.	16 Doy gracias a Dios, porque ha puesto en el corazón de Tito la misma solicitud que yo tengo por ustedes.
17 For certainly, he accepted the exhortation. But since he was more solicitous, he went to you of his own free will.	17 El, no solamente respondió a mi llamado, sino que, con más solicitud que nunca y por propia iniciativa, ha decidido ir a verlos.
18 And we have even sent with him a brother whose praise accompanies the Gospel throughout all the churches.	18 Con él les enviamos al hermano que ha merecido el elogio de todas las Iglesias, por el servicio que ha prestado al Evangelio.
19 And not only that, but he was also chosen by the churches to be a companion for our sojourn in this grace, which is ministered by us with our determined will, to the glory of the Lord.	19 Además, él ha sido designado por las Iglesias como nuestro compañero de viaje en esta obra de generosidad, a la cual nos consagramos para gloria del Señor y como prueba de nuestra buena voluntad.
20 So let us avoid this, lest anyone disparage us over the abundance that is ministered by us.	20 Nuestra intención, es evitar toda crítica con respecto a la abundante colecta que tenemos a nuestro cuidado,
21 For we provide for what is good, not only in the sight of God, but also in the sight of men.	21 procurando hacer lo que está bien, no solamente delante de Dios, sino también delante de los hombres.
22 And we have also sent with them our brother, whom we have proven to be frequently solicitous in many matters. But now there is a greater solicitousness, which is greatly entrusted to you;	22 Con ellos, les enviamos a otro de nuestros hermanos, cuyo celo hemos comprobado muchas veces y de varias maneras, y que ahora se muestra más solícito todavía, por la confianza que les tiene.
23 and whether it concerns Titus, who is a companion to me and a helper to you, or whether it concerns our brothers, the Apostles of the churches, it is to the glory of Christ.	23 En cuanto a Tito, él es mi compañero y mi colaborador entre ustedes, y los demás hermanos son los delegados de las Iglesias y la gloria de Cristo.
24 Therefore, in the sight of the churches, show them the proof of your charity and of our glorying about you.	24 Pruébenles entonces su amor, y lo bien fundado de nuestro orgullo por ustedes delante de las Iglesias.
