1 Now concerning the things about which you wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.	1 ORA, quant’è alle cose delle quali mi avete scritto, egli sarebbe bene per l’uomo di non toccar donna.
2 But, because of fornication, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.	2 Ma, per le fornicazioni, ogni uomo abbia la sua moglie, ed ogni donna il suo proprio marito.
3 A husband should fulfill his obligation to his wife, and a wife should also act similarly toward her husband.	3 Il marito renda alla moglie la dovuta benivoglienza; e parimente la moglie al marito.
4 It is not the wife, but the husband, who has power over her body. But, similarly also, it is not the husband, but the wife, who has power over his body.	4 La moglie non ha podestà sopra il suo proprio corpo, ma il marito; parimente ancora il marito non ha podestà sopra il suo proprio corpo, ma la moglie.
5 So, do not fail in your obligations to one another, except perhaps by consent, for a limited time, so that you may empty yourselves for prayer. And then, return together again, lest Satan tempt you by means of your abstinence.	5 Non frodate l’un l’altro, se pur non è di consentimento, per un tempo, per vacare a digiuno, e ad orazione; poi di nuovo tornate a stare insieme, acciocchè Satana non vi tenti per la vostra incontinenza.
6 But I am saying this, neither as an indulgence, nor as a commandment.	6 Or io dico questo per concessione, non per comandamento.
7 For I would prefer it if you were all like myself. But each person has his proper gift from God: one in this way, yet another in that way.	7 Perciocchè io vorrei che tutti gli uomini fossero come son io; ma ciascuno ha il suo proprio dono da Dio: l’uno in una maniera, l’altro in un’altra.
8 But I say to the unmarried and to widows: It is good for them, if they would remain as they are, just as I also am.	8 Or io dico a quelli che non son maritati, ed alle vedove, ch’egli è bene per loro che se ne stieno come me ne sto io ancora.
9 But if they cannot restrain themselves, they should marry. For it is better to marry, than to be burned.	9 Ma, se non si contengono, maritinsi, perciocchè meglio è maritarsi, che ardere
10 But to those who have been joined in matrimony, it is not I who commands you, but the Lord: a wife is not to separate from her husband.	10 Ma a’ maritati ordino, non io, ma il Signore, che la moglie non si separi dal marito.
11 But if she has separated from him, she must remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband should not divorce his wife.	11 E se pure ella si separa, rimanga senza maritarsi, o si riconcilii col marito. Il marito altresì non lasci la moglie.
12 Concerning the rest, I am speaking, not the Lord. If any brother has an unbelieving wife, and she consents to live with him, he should not divorce her.	12 Ma agli altri dico io, non il Signore: Se alcun fratello ha moglie infedele, ed ella consente d’abitar con lui, non la lasci.
13 And if any woman has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to live with her, she should not divorce her husband.	13 Parimente ancora la donna che ha un marito infedele, se egli consente d’abitar con lei, non lo lasci.
14 For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through the believing wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through the believing husband. Otherwise, your children would be unclean, whereas instead they are holy.	14 Perciocchè il marito infedele è santificato nella moglie, e la moglie infedele è santificata nel marito; altrimenti, i vostri figliuoli sarebbero immondi; ma ora son santi.
15 But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart. For a brother or sister cannot be made subject to servitude in this way. For God has called us to peace.	15 Che se l’infedele si separa, separisi; in tal caso il fratello, o la sorella, non son sottoposti a servitù; ma Iddio ci ha chiamati a pace.
16 And how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?	16 Perciocchè, che sai tu, moglie, se tu salverai il marito? ovvero tu, marito, che sai se tu salverai la moglie?
17 However, let each one walk just as the Lord has distributed to him, each one just as God has called him. And thus do I teach in all the churches.	17 Ad ogni modo, secondo che Iddio ha distribuito a ciascuno, secondo che il Signore ha chiamato ciascuno, così cammini; e così ordino in tutte le chiese.
18 Has any circumcised man been called? Let him not cover his circumcision. Has any uncircumcised man been called? Let him not be circumcised.	18 Alcuno è egli stato chiamato, essendo circonciso? non voglia sembrare incirconciso; alcuno è egli stato chiamato, essendo incirconciso? non circoncidasi.
19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing; there is only the observance of the commandments of God.	19 La circoncisione è nulla, e l’incirconcisione è nulla; ma il tutto è l’osservanza dei comandamenti a Dio.
20 Let each and every one remain in the same calling to which he was called.	20 Ciascuno rimanga nella vocazione, nella quale è stato chiamato.
21 Are you a servant who has been called? Do not be concerned about it. But if you ever have the ability to be free, make use of it.	21 Sei tu stato chiamato, essendo servo? non curartene; ma se pur puoi divenir libero, usa più tosto quella comodità.
22 For any servant who has been called in the Lord is free in the Lord. Similarly, any free person who has been called is a servant in Christ.	22 Perciocchè colui che è chiamato nel Signore, essendo servo, è servo francato del Signore; parimente ancora colui ch’è chiamato, essendo libero, è servo di Cristo.
23 You have been bought with a price. Do not be willing to become the servants of men.	23 Voi siete stati comperati con prezzo, non divenite servi degli uomini.
24 Brothers, let each one, in whatever state he was called, remain in that state with God.	24 Fratelli, ognun rimanga dinnanzi a Dio nella condizione, nella quale egli è stato chiamato
25 Now, concerning virgins, I have no commandment from the Lord. But I give counsel, as one who has obtained the mercy of the Lord, so as to be faithful.	25 Or intorno alle vergini, io non ne ho comandamento dal Signore; ma ne do avviso, come avendo ottenuta misericordia dal Signore d’esser fedele.
26 Therefore, I consider this to be good, because of the present necessity: that it is good for a man to be such as I am.	26 Io stimo adunque ciò esser bene per la soprastante necessità; perciocchè egli è bene per l’uomo di starsene così.
27 Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be freed. Are you free of a wife? Do not seek a wife.	27 Sei tu legato a moglie? non cercar d’essere sciolto; sei tu sciolto da moglie? non cercar moglie.
28 But if you take a wife, you have not sinned. And if a virgin has married, she has not sinned. Even so, such as these will have the tribulation of the flesh. But I would spare you from this.	28 Che se pure ancora prendi moglie, tu non pecchi; e se la vergine si marita, non pecca; ma tali persone avranno tribolazione nella carne; or io vi risparmio.
29 And so, this is what I say, brothers: The time is short. What remains of it is such that: those who have wives should be as if they had none;	29 Ma questo dico, fratelli, che il tempo è omai abbreviato; acciocchè, e coloro che hanno mogli sieno come se non l’avessero;
30 and those who weep, as though they were not weeping; and those who rejoice, as if they were not rejoicing; and those who buy, as if they possessed nothing;	30 e coloro che piangono, come se non piangessero; e coloro che si rallegrano, come se non si rallegrassero; e coloro che comperano, come se non dovessero possedere;
31 and those who use the things of this world, as if they were not using them. For the figure of this world is passing away.	31 e coloro che usano questo mondo, come non abusandolo; perciocchè la figura di questo mondo passa.
32 But I would prefer you to be without worry. Whoever is without a wife is worried about the things of the Lord, as to how he may please God.	32 Or io desidero che voi siate senza sollecitudine. Chi non è maritato, ha cura delle cose del Signore, come egli sia per piacere al Signore;
33 But whoever is with a wife is worried about the things of the world, as to how he may please his wife. And so, he is divided.	33 ma colui che è maritato ha cura delle cose del mondo, come egli sia per piacere alla sua moglie.
34 And the unmarried woman and the virgin think about the things that are of the Lord, so that she may be holy in body and in spirit. But she who is married thinks about the things that are of the world, as to how she may please her husband.	34 Vi è differenza tra la donna e la vergine; quella che non è maritata ha cura delle cose del Signore, acciocchè sia santa di corpo e di spirito; ma la maritata ha cura delle cose del mondo, come ella sia per piacere al marito.
35 Furthermore, I am saying this for your own benefit, not in order to cast a snare over you, but toward whatever is honest and whatever may provide you with the ability to be without hindrance, so as to worship the Lord.	35 Ora, questo dico io per la vostra propria comodità; non per mettervi addosso un laccio, ma per ciò che è decente, e convenevole da attenervi costantemente al Signore, senza esser distratti
36 But if any man considers himself to seem dishonorable, concerning a virgin who is of adult age, and so it ought to be, he may do as he wills. If he marries her, he does not sin.	36 Ma, se alcuno stima far cosa disonorevole inverso la sua vergine, se ella trapassa il fior dell’età, e che così pur si debba fare, faccia ciò ch’egli vuole, egli non pecca; sieno maritate.
37 But if he has decided firmly in his heart, and he does not have any obligation, but only the power of his free will, and if he has judged this in his heart, to let her remain a virgin, he does well.	37 Ma chi sta fermo nel suo cuore, e non ha necessità, ed è padrone della sua volontà, ed ha determinato questo nel cuor suo, di guardar la sua vergine, fa bene.
38 And so, he who joins with his virgin in matrimony does well, and he who does not join with her does better.	38 Perciò, chi marita la sua vergine fa bene, e chi non la marita, fa meglio
39 A woman is bound under the law for as long as her husband lives. But if her husband has died, she is free. She may marry whomever she wishes, but only in the Lord.	39 La moglie è legata per la legge, tutto il tempo che il suo marito vive; ma, se il marito muore, ella è libera di maritarsi a cui vuole, purchè nel Signore.
40 But she will be more blessed, if she remains in this state, in accord with my counsel. And I think that I, too, have the Spirit of God.	40 Nondimeno, ella è più felice, secondo il mio avviso, se rimane così; or penso d’avere anch’io lo Spirito di Dio
