1 He ascends, who would scatter before your eyes, who would maintain the blockade. Contemplate the way, fortify your back, reinforce virtue greatly.	1 IL dissipatore è salito contro a te, o Ninive; guarda pur ben la fortezza, considera le vie, rinforzati i lombi, fortifica grandemente la tua forza.
2 For the Lord has repaid the arrogance of Jacob, just like the arrogance of Israel. For the despoilers have scattered them, and they have corrupted their procreation.	2 Perciocchè il Signore ha restituita a Giacobbe la sua gloria, quale è la gloria d’Israele; conciossiachè de’ vendemmiatori li abbiano vendemmiati, ed abbiano guasti i lor tralci.
3 The shield of his strong ones is fire, the men of war are in scarlet. The reins of the chariot are fiery in the day of his preparation, and the drivers have been drugged.	3 Gli scudi degli uomini prodi di colui son tinti di rosso, i suoi uomini di guerra son vestiti di scarlatto; nel giorno ch’egli ordinerà la battaglia, i carri si muoveranno con fuoco di faci, e gli abeti saranno scossi.
4 They have become confused on their journey. The four-horse chariots have collided in the streets. Their appearance is like torches, like lightning dashing around.	4 I carri smanieranno per le strade, e faranno un grande scalpiccio per le piazze; gli aspetti di coloro saran simili a torchi accesi, essi scorreranno come folgori.
5 He will call to mind his strong ones; they will destroy along their journey. They will quickly ascend its walls, and a shelter will be prepared.	5 Egli chiamerà per nome i suoi bravi guerrieri, essi s’intopperanno camminando, correranno in fretta al muro di essa, e la difesa sarà apparecchiata.
6 The gates of the rivers have been opened, and the temple has been pulled down to the ground.	6 Le cateratte de’ fiumi saranno aperte, e i palazzi scoscenderanno.
7 And the foot soldier has been led away captive, and her handmaids were driven away, mourning like doves, murmuring in their hearts.	7 E le dame del serraglio saran menate in cattività, e tratte fuori; e le lor serventi le accompagneranno con voci, simili a quelle delle colombe, picchiandosi i petti come tamburi.
8 And Nineveh, her waters are like a fish pond. Yet truly, they have fled away: “Stand, stand!” But there is no one who will turn back.	8 Or Ninive è stata, dal tempo che è in essere, come un vivaio di acque; ora fuggono essi. Fermatevi, fermatevi; ma niuno si rivolge.
9 Despoil the silver, despoil the gold. And there is no end to all the riches of desirable equipment.	9 Predate l’argento, predate l’oro; vi è apparecchio senza fine; predate la gloria degli arredi preziosi d’ogni sorta.
10 She has been scattered, and cut, and torn apart. And the heart melts, and the knees buckle, and weakness is in every temperament. And the faces of them all are like a black kettle.	10 Ella è vuotata, e spogliata, e desolata; ed ogni cuore è strutto, e tutte le ginocchia si battono, e vi è doglia in tutti i lombi, e le facce di tutti sono impallidite
11 Where is the dwelling place of the lions, and the feeding ground of the young lions, to which the lion went, so as to open a way for the young lion, and so that there would be none to make them afraid?	11 Dov’è il ricetto de’ leoni, e quel ch’era il pasco de’ leoncelli, dove andava il leone, il fiero leone, e il leoncello, senza che alcuno li spaventasse?
12 The lion seized enough for his young, and killed enough for his lionesses, and he filled his caves with prey, and his den with spoils.	12 Quivi rapiva il leone per li suoi leoncelli abbastanza, e strangolava per le sue leonesse; ed empieva le sue grotte di preda, e i suoi ricetti di rapina.
13 Behold, I will come to you, says the Lord of hosts, and I will burn your chariots even to smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions. And I will exterminate your prey from the land, and the voice of your messengers shall no longer be heard.	13 Eccomi a te, dice il Signor degli eserciti; io arderò, e ridurrò in fumo i tuoi carri, e la spada divorerà i tuoi leoncelli; e sterminerò dalla terra la tua preda, e la voce de’ tuoi messi non sarà più udita
