Jonah 2

1 And the Lord prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three days and three nights.	1 El Señor hizo que un gran pez se tragara a Jonás, y este permaneció en el vientre el pez tres días y tres noches.
2 And Jonah prayed to the Lord, his God, from the belly of the fish.	2 Entonces Jonás oró al Señor, su Dios, desde el vientre del pez,
3 And he said: “I cried out to the Lord from my tribulation, and he heeded me. From the belly of hell, I cried out, and you heeded my voice.	3 diciendo: «Desde mi angustia invoqué al Señor, y él me respondió; desde el seno del Abismo, pedí auxilio, y tú escuchaste mi voz.
4 And you have thrown me into the deep, in the heart of the sea, and a flood has encircled me. All your whirlpools and your waves have passed over me.	4 Tú me arrojaste a lo más profundo, al medio del mar: la corriente me envolvía, ¡todos tus torrentes y tus olas pasaron sobre mí!
5 And I said: I am expelled from the sight of your eyes. Yet, truly, I will see your holy temple again.	5 Entonces dije: He sido arrojado lejos de tus ojos, pero yo seguiré mirando hacia tu santo Templo.
6 The waters surrounded me, even to the soul. The abyss has walled me in. The ocean has covered my head.	6 Las aguas me rodeaban hasta la garganta y el Abismo me cercaba; las algas se enredaban en mi cabeza.
7 I descended to the base of the mountains. The bars of the earth have enclosed me forever. And you will raise up my life from corruption, Lord, my God.	7 Yo bajé hasta las raíces de las montañas: sobre mí se cerraron para siempre los cerrojos de la tierra; pero tú me hiciste subir vivo de la Fosa, Señor, Dios mío.
8 When my soul was in anguish within me, I called to mind the Lord, so that my prayer might come to you, to your holy temple.	8 Cuando mi alma desfallecía, me acordé del Señor, y mi oración llegó hasta ti, hasta tu santo Templo.
9 Those who in vain observe vanities, abandon their own mercy.	9 Los que veneran ídolos vanos abandonan su fidelidad,
10 But I, with a voice of praise, will sacrifice to you. I will repay whatever I have vowed to the Lord, because of my salvation.”	10 pero yo, en acción de gracias, te ofreceré sacrificios y cumpliré mis votos: ¡La salvación viene del Señor!».
11 And the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.	11 Entonces el Señor dio una orden al pez, y este arrojó a Jonás sobre la tierra firme.
