Isaiah 19

1 The burden of Egypt. Behold, the Lord will ascend upon a lofty cloud, and he will enter into Egypt, and the false images of Egypt will be moved before his face, and the heart of Egypt will waste away in its midst.	1 Ausspruch über Ägypten. Seht, der Herr fährt auf einer leichten Wolke daher; er kommt nach Ägypten. Vor seinem Angesicht zittern die Götter Ägyptens, den Ägyptern verzagt das Herz in der Brust.
2 And I will cause Egyptian to rush against Egyptian. And they will fight: a man against his brother, and a man against his friend, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.	2 Ich hetze Ägypter gegen Ägypter und sie kämpfen gegeneinander: Bruder gegen Bruder, Nachbar gegen Nachbar, Stadt gegen Stadt, Gau gegen Gau.
3 And the spirit of Egypt will be ruptured to its very core. And I will cast down their plan violently. And they will seek answers from their false images, and their diviners, and those led by demons, and their seers.	3 Der Geist Ägyptens gerät mitten in ihm in Verwirrung, ich vereitle seine Pläne. Dann befragen sie die Götter und die Zauberer, die Totengeister und die Gelehrten.
4 And I will deliver Egypt into the hand of cruel masters, and a strong king will dominate them, says the Lord, the God of hosts.	4 Doch ich gebe die Ägypter in die Gewalt eines strengen Herrn, ein harter König wird über sie herrschen - Spruch Gottes, des Herrn der Heere.
5 And the waters of the sea will dry up, and the river will be desolate and dry.	5 Das Wasser im Meer versiegt, der Fluss trocknet aus.
6 And the rivers will fail. The streams of its banks will diminish and dry up. The reed and the bulrush will wither away.	6 Die Kanäle Ägyptens verbreiten üble Gerüche, seicht und trocken sind die Arme des Nil, Binsen und Schilfrohr verwelken.
7 The channel of the river will be stripped down to its source, and everything irrigated by it will dry up and wither and be no more.	7 Das Riedgras am Nil, an der Mündung des Nil, alle Saaten am Nil sind vertrocknet, sie sind verweht und dahin.
8 And the fishermen will grieve. And all who cast a hook into the river will mourn. And those who cast a net upon the surface of its waters will languish.	8 Die Fischer klagen und trauern, alle, die ihre Angel auswerfen im Nil. Wer sein Netz im Wasser auslegen will, ist bekümmert.
9 Those who work with linen, combing and weaving fine textiles, will be confounded.	9 Wer Flachs anbaut, erntet Enttäuschung. Die Hechlerinnen und die Weber erblassen;
10 And its irrigated places will begin to fail, with all those who make pools to take fish.	10 die Seiler sind niedergeschlagen; alle Arbeiter verlieren den Mut.
11 The leaders of Tanis are foolish. The wise counselors of Pharaoh have given foolish counsel. How can you say to Pharaoh: “I am the son of wisemen, the son of the kings of antiquity?”	11 Die Fürsten von Zoan sind Narren; was die Weisen dem Pharao raten, ist Unsinn. Wie könnt ihr zum Pharao sagen: Ich bin der Sohn eines Weisen, der Sohn von königlichen Ahnen?
12 Where are your wisemen now? Let them announce it to you, and let them reveal what the Lord of hosts intends for Egypt.	12 Wo sind denn deine weisen Berater? Sie sollen dir sagen und erklären, was der Herr der Heere beschlossen hat über Ägypten.
13 The leaders of Tanis have become foolish. The leaders of Memphis have decayed. They have deceived Egypt, the corner of its people.	13 Die Fürsten von Zoan sind dumm und die Fürsten von Memfis lassen sich täuschen. Die Führer der Stämme führen Ägypten in die Irre.
14 The Lord has mixed a spirit of giddiness into its midst. And they have caused Egypt to err in all its works, like a drunken man who staggers and vomits.	14 Der Herr hat ihnen einen Geist eingegossen, der sie schwindlig macht, sodass sie Ägypten in die Irre führen bei allem, was es tut, und es nun wie ein Betrunkener taumelt, der sich erbricht.
15 And there will be no work for Egypt that would produce a head or a tail, one who bows down or one who refrains from bowing down.	15 So wird in Ägypten niemand mehr etwas vollbringen, niemand, weder Kopf noch Schwanz, weder Palme noch Binse.
16 In that day, Egypt will be like women, and they will be stupefied and fearful before the presence of the shaking hand of the Lord of hosts, the hand which he will move over them.	16 An jenem Tag werden die Ägypter wie die Weiber sein: Sie erschrecken und zittern, wenn der Herr der Heere seine Faust gegen sie schwingt.
17 And the land of Judah will be a dread to Egypt. Everyone who thinks about it will be terrified before the presence of the plan of the Lord of hosts, the plan which he has decided concerning them.	17 Das Land Juda wird für Ägypten zum Schrecken werden. Sooft man Judas Namen erwähnt, erschrickt Ägypten vor dem Plan, den der Herr der Heere gegen Ägypten gefasst hat.
18 In that day, there will be five cities in the land of Egypt which speak the language of Canaan, and which swear by the Lord of hosts. One will be called the City of the Sun.	18 An jenem Tag werden fünf Städte in Ägypten die Sprache Kanaans sprechen und beim Herrn der Heere schwören. Eine von ihnen wird Ir-Heres (Sonnenstadt) heißen.
19 In that day, there will be an altar of the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt and a monument of the Lord beside its borders.	19 An jenem Tag wird es für den Herrn mitten in Ägypten einen Altar geben und an Ägyptens Grenze wird ein Steinmal für den Herrn aufgestellt.
20 This shall be a sign and a testimony to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt. For they will cry out to the Lord before the face of the tribulation, and he will send them a savior and a defender who will free them.	20 Das wird ein Zeichen und Zeugnis für den Herrn der Heere in Ägypten sein: Wenn sie beim Herrn gegen ihre Unterdrücker Klage erheben, wird er ihnen einen Retter schicken, der für sie kämpft und sie befreit.
21 And the Lord will be acknowledged by Egypt, and the Egyptians will recognize the Lord in that day, and they will worship him with sacrifices and gifts. And they will make vows to the Lord, and they will fulfill them.	21 Der Herr wird sich den Ägyptern offenbaren und die Ägypter werden an jenem Tag den Herrn erkennen; sie werden ihm Schlachtopfer und Speiseopfer darbringen, sie werden dem Herrn Gelübde ablegen und sie auch erfüllen.
22 And the Lord will strike Egypt with a scourge, and he will heal them. And they will return to the Lord. And he will be placated toward them, and he will heal them.	22 Der Herr wird die Ägypter zwar schlagen, er wird sie aber auch heilen: Wenn sie zum Herrn umkehren, lässt er sich durch ihre Bitte erweichen und heilt sie.
23 In that day, there will be a way from Egypt to the Assyrians, and the Assyrian will enter into Egypt, and the Egyptian will be with the Assyrians, and the Egyptians will serve Assur.	23 An jenem Tag wird eine Straße von Ägypten nach Assur führen, sodass die Assyrer nach Ägypten und die Ägypter nach Assur ziehen können. Und Ägypten wird zusammen mit Assur (dem Herrn) dienen.
24 In that day, will Israel be the third to the Egyptian and the Assyrian, a blessing in the midst of the earth,	24 An jenem Tag wird Israel als Drittes dem Bund von Ägypten und Assur beitreten, zum Segen für die ganze Erde.
25 which the Lord of hosts has blessed, saying: Blessed be my people of Egypt, and the work of my hands for the Assyrian, but Israel is my inheritance.	25 Denn der Herr der Heere wird sie segnen und sagen: Gesegnet ist Ägypten, mein Volk, und Assur, das Werk meiner Hände, und Israel, mein Erbbesitz.
