1 But Baldad the Suhite, responding, said:	1 Rispose Baldad Suite, e disse:
2 How long will you speak this way, so that the words of your mouth are like a changeable wind?	2 Insino a qui anco favelli cotali cose, e lo spirito in molti modi delli sermoni della bocca tua?
3 Does God supplant judgment, or does the Almighty subvert that which is just?	3 Or defrauda Iddio lo giudicio? e lo onnipotente sovverte quello che è giusto?
4 And if now your children have sinned against him, and he has dismissed them into the power of their iniquity,	4 Ancora se li figliuoli tuoi peccarono a lui, e lasciò loro nelle mani della iniquitade;
5 even so, you should arise early to God, so as to beseech the Almighty.	5 ma se tu nel fare del dì ti leverai a Dio, e lo onnipotente pregherai;
6 If you approach with purity and honesty, he will quickly be attentive to you, and a peaceful life will repay your righteousness,	6 e se tu mondo e diritto anderai, incontinente sì veglierae a te, e umiliato renderatti l'abitazione della tua giustizia;
7 so much so that, if your former things were small, your latter things would be multiplied greatly.	7 intanto che [se] le tue cose di prima fossero piccole, e le tue cose nuove moltiplicheranno molto.
8 For inquire of the earliest generation, and investigate diligently the history of the fathers,	8 Adunque addomanda la generazione di prima, e diligentemente investiga la memoria de' padri tuoi;
9 (of course, we are but of yesterday and are ignorant that our days on earth are like a shadow,)	9 e certo di fuori e alieni noi siamo, e non sappiamo (perciò) che sì come ombra, i dì nostri sono sopra la terra;
10 and they will teach you; they will speak with you and will offer you the eloquence of their hearts.	10 e loro ammaestreranno te; e favelleranno a te, e del cuore loro proferiranno li parlari.
11 Can the marsh plant live without moisture? Or can sedges grow without water?	11 Or puote verdeggiare il giunco senza umore? ovvero crescere le erbe acute senza acqua?
12 When it is still in flower, and has not been pulled up by hand, it withers before all other plants.	12 Conciosia cosa che ancora sia in fiore, nè non è preso colla mano, innanzi a tutte l'erbe si secca;
13 Just so are the ways of all who forget God, and the hope of the hypocrite will perish.	13 così è [del]le vie di tutti coloro che dimènticano Iddio; e la speranza dello ipocrito perirà.
14 His frenzy will not please him, and his faith will be like a spider’s web.	14 Non li piacerà la sua misericordia; ed è sì come tela di ragnolo la fidanza sua.
15 He will lean on his house, and it will not stand; he will prop it up, but it will not rise.	15 Sforzerassi sopra la casa sua, e non starà; forniralla, e non si drizzerà.
16 He seems to have moisture before the sun arrives; and at sunrise, his sprout shoots forth.	16 Lo umido è veduto innanzi che venghi lo sole, e nello nascimento suo lo germoglio suo si parte.
17 His roots will crowd together over a heap of stones, and among the stones he will remain.	17 Sopra lo monte delle pietre le radici sue saranno messe, e intra le pietre starà.
18 If someone is devoured right beside him, he will deny him and will say: “I do not know you.”	18 Se inghiottirà lui del luogo suo, negherà lui, e dirà: non conobbi te.
19 For this is the benefit of his way, that others in turn may spring up from the earth.	19 Questa è in verità la letizia della via sua, che un' altra volta altri sieno germinati della terra.
20 God will not discard the simple, nor will he extend his hand to the spiteful,	20 Iddio non gitterà mai lo semplice, nè porgerà la mano allo malvagio;
21 even until your mouth is filled with laughter and your lips with rejoicing.	21 insino che sia riempiuta la bocca tua di riso, e le labbra d'allegrezza.
22 Those who hate you, will be clothed with confusion, and the tabernacle of the impious will not continue.	22 Coloro che t' hanno odiato, saranno vestiti di confusione; e lo tabernacolo de' malvagi non starà fermo.
