Genesis 15

1 And so, these things having been transacted, the word of the Lord came to Abram by a vision, saying: “Do not be afraid, Abram, I am your protector, and your reward is exceedingly great.”	1 Po tych wydarzeniach Pan tak powiedział do Abrama podczas widzenia: Nie obawiaj się, Abramie, bo Ja jestem twoim obrońcą; nagroda twoja będzie sowita.
2 And Abram said: “Lord God, what will you give to me? I may go without children. And the son of the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus.”	2 Abram rzekł: O Panie, mój Boże, na cóż mi ona, skoro zbliżam się do kresu mego życia, nie mając potomka; przyszłym zaś spadkobiercą mojej majętności jest Damasceńczyk Eliezer.
3 And Abram added: “Yet to me you have not given offspring. And behold, my servant born in my house will be my heir.”	3 I mówił: Ponieważ nie dałeś mi potomka, ten właśnie zrodzony u mnie sługa mój, zostanie moim spadkobiercą.
4 And immediately the word of the Lord came to him, saying: “This one will not be your heir. But he who will come from your loins, the same will you have for your heir.”	4 Ale oto usłyszał słowa: Nie on będzie twoim spadkobiercą, lecz ten po tobie dziedziczyć będzie, który od ciebie będzie pochodził.
5 And he brought him outside, and he said to him, “Take in the heavens, and number the stars, if you can.” And he said to him, “So also will your offspring be.”	5 I poleciwszy Abramowi wyjść z namiotu, rzekł: Spójrz na niebo i policz gwiazdy, jeśli zdołasz to uczynić; potem dodał: Tak liczne będzie twoje potomstwo.
6 Abram believed God, and it was reputed to him unto justice.	6 Abram uwierzył i Pan poczytał mu to za zasługę.
7 And he said to him, “I am the Lord who led you away from Ur of the Chaldeans, so as to give you this land, and so that you would possess it.”	7 Potem zaś rzekł do niego: Ja jestem Pan, który ciebie wywiodłem z Ur chaldejskiego, aby ci dać ten oto kraj na własność.
8 But he said, “Lord God, in what way may I be able to know that I will possess it?”	8 A na to Abram: O Panie, mój Boże, jak będę mógł się upewnić, że otrzymam go na własność?
9 And the Lord responded by saying: “Take for me a cow of three years, and a she-goat of three years, and a ram of three years, also a turtle-dove and a pigeon.”	9 Wtedy Pan rzekł: Wybierz dla Mnie trzyletnią jałowicę, trzyletnią kozę i trzyletniego barana, a nadto synogarlicę i gołębicę.
10 Taking all these, he divided them through the middle, and placed both parts opposite one another. But the birds he did not divide.	10 Wybrawszy to wszystko, Abram poprzerąbywał je wzdłuż na połowy i przerąbane części ułożył jedną naprzeciw drugiej; ptaków nie porozcinał.
11 And birds descended upon the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.	11 Kiedy zaś do tego mięsa zaczęło zlatywać się ptactwo drapieżne, Abram je odpędził.
12 And when the sun was setting, a deep sleep fell upon Abram, and a dread, great and dark, invaded him.	12 A gdy słońce chyliło się ku zachodowi, Abram zapadł w głęboki sen i opanowało go uczucie lęku, jak gdyby ogarnęła go wielka ciemność.
13 And it was said to him: “Know beforehand that your future offspring will be sojourners in a land not their own, and they will subjugate them in servitude and afflict them for four hundred years.	13 I wtedy to Pan rzekł do Abrama: Wiedz o tym dobrze, iż twoi potomkowie będą przebywać jako przybysze w kraju, który nie będzie ich krajem, i przez czterysta lat będą tam ciemiężeni jako niewolnicy;
14 Yet truly, I will judge the nation that they will serve, and after this they will depart with great substance.	14 aż wreszcie ześlę zasłużoną karę na ten naród, którego będą niewolnikami, po czym oni wyjdą z wielkim dobytkiem.
15 But you will go to your fathers in peace and be buried at a good old age.	15 Ale ty odejdziesz do twych przodków w pokoju, w późnej starości zejdziesz do grobu.
16 But in the fourth generation, they will return here. For the iniquities of the Amorites are not yet completed, even to this present time.”	16 Twoi potomkowie powrócą tu dopiero w czwartym pokoleniu, gdy już dopełni się miara niegodziwości Amorytów.
17 Then, when the sun had set, there came a dark mist, and there appeared a smoking furnace and a lamp of fire passing between those divisions.	17 A kiedy słońce zaszło i nastał mrok nieprzenikniony, ukazał się dym jakby wydobywający się z pieca i ogień niby gorejąca pochodnia i przesunęły się między tymi połowami zwierząt.
18 On that day, God formed a covenant with Abram, saying: “To your offspring I will give this land, from the river of Egypt, even to the great river Euphrates:	18 Wtedy to właśnie Pan zawarł przymierze z Abramem, mówiąc: Potomstwu twemu daję ten kraj, od Rzeki Egipskiej aż do rzeki wielkiej, rzeki Eufrat,
19 the land of the Kenites and the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites	19 wraz z Kenitami, Kenizytami, Kadmonitami,
20 and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, likewise the Rephaim,	20 Chetytami, Peryzzytami, Refaitami,
21 and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.”	21 Amorytami, Kananejczykami, Girgaszytami i Jebusytami.
