Isaiæ 56

NOVA VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Haec dicit Dominus: “ Custodite iudicium et facite iustitiam, quia iuxta est salus mea, ut veniat, et iustitia mea, ut reveletur ”.	1 Thus says Yahweh: Make fair judgement your concern, act with justice, for soon my salvation wil comeand my saving justice be manifest.
2 Beatus vir, qui facit hoc, et filius hominis, qui apprehendit istud, custodiens sabbatum, ne polluat illud, custodiens manum suam, ne faciat omne malum.	2 Blessed is anyone who does this, anyone who clings to it, observing the Sabbath, not profaning it, andabstaining from every evil deed.
3 Et non dicat filius advenae, qui adhaeret Domino, dicens: “ Separatione dividet me Dominus a populo suo ”. Et non dicat eunuchus: “ Ecce, ego lignum aridum ”.	3 No foreigner adhering to Yahweh should say, 'Yahweh wil utterly exclude me from his people.' Noeunuch should say, 'Look, I am a dried-up tree.'
4 Quia haec dicit Dominus eunuchis: “ Qui custodierint sabbata mea et elegerint, quae ego volui, et tenuerint foedus meum,	4 For Yahweh says this: To the eunuchs who observe my Sabbaths and choose to do my good pleasureand cling to my covenant,
5 dabo eis in domo mea et in muris meis locum et nomen melius a filiis et filiabus: nomen sempiternum dabo eis, quod non peribit.	5 I shal give them in my house and within my wal s a monument and a name better than sons anddaughters; I shal give them an everlasting name that will never be effaced.
6 Et filios advenae, qui adhaerent Domino, ut colant eum, ut diligant nomen Domini, ut sint ei in servos, omnes custodientes sabbatum, ne polluant illud, et tenentes foedus meum,	6 As for foreigners who adhere to Yahweh to serve him, to love Yahweh's name and become hisservants, al who observe the Sabbath, not profaning it, and cling to my covenant:
7 adducam eos in montem sanctum meum et laetificabo eos in domo orationis meae: holocausta eorum et victimae eorum placebunt mihi super altari meo, quia domus mea domus orationis vocabitur cunctis populis ”.	7 these I shall lead to my holy mountain and make them joyful in my house of prayer. Their burntofferings and sacrifices wil be accepted on my altar, for my house wil be called a house of prayer for allpeoples.
8 Ait Dominus Deus, qui congregat dispersos Israel: “ Adhuc congregabo ad eum praeter congregatos eius ”.	8 Lord Yahweh who gathers the exiles of Israel declares: There are others I shal gather besides thosealready gathered.
9 Omnes bestiae agri, venite ad devorandum, universae bestiae saltus.	9 Come and gorge, al you wild beasts, al you beasts of the forest!
10 Speculatores eius caeci, omnes nescierunt; universi sunt canes muti non valentes latrare, insanientes, cubantes, amantes soporem;	10 Its watchmen are all blind, they know nothing. Dumb watchdogs all, unable to bark, they dream, liedown, and love to sleep.
11 et canes voraces nescierunt saturitatem, ipsi pastores ignoraverunt intellegentiam: omnes in viam suam declinaverunt, unusquisque ad avaritiam suam, a summo usque ad novissimum.	11 Greedy dogs, never satisfied, such are the shepherds, who understand nothing; they al go their ownway, each to the last man after his own interest.
12 “ Venite, sumam vinum, et impleamur ebrietate; et cras erit sicut hodie et multo amplius ”.	12 'Come, let me fetch wine; we wil get drunk on strong drink, tomorrow will be just as wonderful astoday and even more so!'
