1 The heads of families of the Levites then came to the priest, Eleazar, Joshua son of Nun and theheads of families of the tribes of Israel-	1 І приступили голови родин левітів у Шіло, в Ханаан-землі, до Єлеазара священика, до Ісуса Навина й до голів родів у колінах синів Ізраїля,
2 they were then at Shiloh in Canaan. They said to them, 'Through Moses, Yahweh ordered us to begiven towns to live in, with their pasture lands for our livestock.'	2 і промовили до них у Шіло, в Ханаан-землі: «Господь заповідав через Мойсея дати нам міста на прожиток, з їхніми околицями для нашої худоби.»
3 In compliance with Yahweh's order, the Israelites consequently and from their own heritage gave theLevites the fol owing towns with their pasture lands:	3 І сини Ізраїля дали зо своїх наділів левітам, за Господнім велінням, оці міста з їхніми околицями.
4 Lots were cast for the clans of the Kohathites: to those Levites who were sons of Aaron the priest, felthirteen towns from the tribes of Judah, Simeon and Benjamin;	4 Випав жереб для родин Кегатіїв, і дісталося за жеребом синам священика Арона, левітам, тридцять міст від коліна Юди, Симеона, Веніямина.
5 to the other sons of Kohath, by clans,	5 Інші ж сини Кегата, за їхніми родинами, одержали за жеребом десять міст від коліна Ефраїма, коліна Дана й півколіна Манассії.
6 fel ten towns from the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. To the sons of Gershon,by clans, fel thirteen towns from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali and the half-tribe of Manasseh inBashan.	6 Потомки Гершона одержали за жеребом, за їхніми родинами, тринадцять міст від коліна Іссахара, коліна Ашера, коліна Нафталі й від півколіна Манассії в Башані.
7 To the sons of Merari, by clans, fel twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad and Zebulun.	7 Потомки Мерарі, за їхніми родинами, одержали дванадцять міст від коліна Рувима, коліна Гада й коліна Завулона.
8 The Israelites assigned these towns and their pasture lands to the Levites by lot, as Yahweh hadordered through Moses.	8 Сини Ізраїля передали за жеребом левітам оці міста з їхніми околицями, як заповідав Господь через Мойсея.
9 From the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Simeon, they gave the towns named below.	9 Дали ж вони від коліна синів Юди й від коліна синів Симеона ось які тут поіменно названі міста.
10 The first portion was for the sons of Aaron, belonging to the clans of the Kohathites, to the sons ofLevi, since the first lot was theirs.	10 Синам Арона, з родин Кегатіїв, з потомків Леві, — на них бо випав перший жереб, —
11 They gave them Kiriath-Arba, Anak's father's town -- now Hebron -- in the highlands of Judah, with itssurrounding pasture lands.	11 дали: Кіріят-Арбу, батька Анака, або Хеврон, в горах юдейських, з його околицями;
12 The fields and vil ages of this town, however, they gave to Caleb son of Jephunneh as his property.	12 поля ж, міста і його села дали на власність Калевові, синові Єфунне.
13 To the sons of Aaron the priest they gave Hebron, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with itspasture lands, as wel as Libnah with its pasture lands,	13 А потомкам Арона священика дали охоронне для вбивців місто Хеврон з його околицями й Лівну з його околицями.
14 Jattir with its pasture lands, Eshtemoa with its pasture lands,	14 Яттір з його околицями й Ештемоа з його околицями,
15 Holon with its pasture lands, Debir with its pasture lands,	15 Холон з його околицями й Девір з його околицями,
16 Ashan with its pasture lands, Juttah with its pasture lands, and Beth-Shemesh with its pasture lands:nine towns taken from these two tribes;	16 Аїн з його околицями, Ютту з його околицями та Бет-Шемеш з його околицями: дев’ять міст від тих двох колін.
17 and, from the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its pasture lands, Geba with its pasture lands,	17 А від коліна Веніямина: Гівеон з його околицями, Геву з його околицями,
18 Anathoth with its pasture lands and Almon with its pasture lands: four towns.	18 Анатот з його околицями й Алмон з його околицями: чотири міста.
19 Total number of towns for the priests, the sons of Aaron: thirteen towns with their pasture lands.	19 Всього одержали потомки Арона священика тринадцять міст з їхніми околицями.
20 As regards the clans of the sons of Kohath, those Levites stil left of the sons of Kohath, the towns oftheir lot were taken from the tribe of Ephraim.	20 А щодо родин потомків Кегата, левітів, тобто решти синів Кегата, то їм дісталися за жеребом міста коліна Ефраїма;
21 They were given Shechem, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with its pasture lands, in thehighlands of Ephraim, as wel as Gezer with its pasture lands,	21 й дали їм захисне для вбивців місто Шехем з його околицями в Ефраїм-горах і Гезер з його околицями,
22 Kibzaim with its pasture lands, and Beth-Horon with its pasture lands: four towns;	22 Ківцаїм з його околицями й Бет-Хорон з його околицями: чотири міста.
23 from the tribe of Dan, Elteke with its pasture lands, Gibbethon with its pasture lands,	23 А від коліна Дана: Елтеке з його околицями й Гіббетон з його околицями,
24 Aijalon with its pasture lands and Gath-Rimmon with its pasture lands: four towns;	24 Аялон з його околицями й Гат-Ріммон з його околицями: чотири міста.
25 and, from the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with its pasture lands and Jibleam with its pasturelands: two towns.	25 А від півколіна Манассії: Таанах з його околицями й Ївлеам з його околицями: два міста.
26 In al : ten towns with their pasture lands for the remaining clans of the sons of Kohath.	26 Всього десять міст з їхніми околицями для решти родин потомків Кегата.
27 To the sons of Gershon, of the levitical clans, were given: from the half-tribe of Manasseh, Golan inBashan, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with its pasture lands, and Ashtaroth with its pasture lands --two towns;	27 Далі одержали потомки Гершона з родин левітів від коліна Манассії: захисне місто для вбивців Голан у Башані разом з його околицями й Аштарот з його околицями: два міста.
28 from the tribe of Issachar, Kishion with its pasture lands, Dobrath with its pasture lands,	28 А від коліна Іссахара: Кішіон з його околицями, Даврат з його околицями,
29 Jarmuth with its pasture lands and En-Gannim with its pasture lands -- four towns;	29 Ярмут з його околицями та Ен-Ганнім з його околицями: чотири міста.
30 from the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its pasture lands, Abdon with its pasture lands,	30 А від коліна Ашера: Мішал з його околицями, Авдон з його околицями,
31 Helkath with its pasture lands and Rehob with its pasture lands -- four towns;	31 Хелкат з його околицями та Рехов з його околицями: чотири міста.
32 and, from the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee, a city of refuge for those who had kil ed, with itspasture lands, Hammoth-Dor with its pasture lands and Kartan with its pasture lands -- three towns.	32 А від коліна Нафталі: захисне для вбивців місто Кадеш у Галилеї з його околицями, Хаммот-Дор з його околицями та Картан з його околицями: три міста.
33 Total number of towns of the Gershonites, by clans: thirteen towns with their pasture lands.	33 Усього одержали гершонії, за їхніми родинами, тринадцять міст з їхніми околицями.
34 To the clans of the sons of Merari, the remainder of the Levites, fel : from the tribe of Zebulun,Jokneam with its pasture lands, Kartah with its pasture lands,	34 Родини ж решти потомків Мерарі, левітів, одержали від коліна Завулона: Йокнеам з його околицями, Карту з його околицями,
35 Rimmon with its pasture lands and Nahalal with its pasture lands -- four towns;	35 Дімну з його околицями та Нагалал з його околицями: чотири міста.
36 on the other side of the Jordan opposite Jericho, from the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the desert, on thetableland, a city of refuge for those who had killed, with its pasture lands, Jahaz with its pasture lands,	36 А від коліна Рувима: Бецер з його околицями, Ягцу з його околицями,
37 Kedemoth with its pasture lands and Mephaath with its pasture lands -- four towns;	37 Кедемот з його околицями та Мефаат з його околицями: чотири міста.
38 and, from the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead, a city of refuge for those who had killed, with its pasturelands, Mahanaim with its pasture lands,	38 А від коліна Гада: захисне для вбивців місто Рамот у Гілеаді з його околицями, Махнаїм з його околицями,
39 Heshbon with its pasture lands and Jazer with its pasture lands -- four towns.	39 Хешбон з його околицями та Язер з його околицями: всього чотири міста.
40 Total number of towns forming the lot of the sons of Merari by clans, of the remaining levitical clans:twelve towns.	40 Всього міст, що одержали за жеребом потомки Мерарі. тобто решта родин левітів, за їхніми родинами, було дванадцять.
41 The total number of towns for the Levites in Israelite territory was forty-eight towns with their pasture lands.	41 Всіх левітських міст серед посілостей синів Ізраїля було сорок вісім з їхніми околицями.
42 These towns consisted in each case of the town itself and the pasture land round it. This was thecase with all the towns.	42 Кожне з тих міст мало довколишні пасовиська, так було з усіма тими містами.
43 This was how Yahweh gave the Israelites the entire country which he had sworn to give to theirancestors. They took possession of it and settled in it.	43 Так дав Господь Ізраїлеві всю землю, про яку клявсь був, що дасть батькам їх, і вони її зайняли й у ній осілись.
44 Yahweh granted them tranquil ity on all their frontiers just as he had sworn to their ancestors and, ofal their enemies, not one succeeded in resisting them. Yahweh put al their enemies at their mercy.	44 І дарував їм Господь навкруги спокій, як поклявсь був батькам їхнім. Ніхто з їхніх ворогів проти них не встоявся. Усіх їхніх ворогів Господь віддав їм у руки.
45 Of al the promises that Yahweh had made to the House of Israel, not one failed; al were fulfilled.	45 З усіх добрих обітниць, що Господь дав був домові Ізраїля, ні одна не була марною: все здійснилось.
