John 7

NEW JERUSALEM	Біблія
1 After this Jesus travel ed round Galilee; he could not travel round Judaea, because the Jews wereseeking to kil him.	1 І по тому ходив Ісус Галилеєю; він не хотів більше ходити Юдеєю, бо юдеї бажали убити його.
2 As the Jewish feast of Shelters drew near,	2 Наближалося ж юдейське свято Кучок.
3 his brothers said to him, 'Leave this place and go to Judaea, so that your disciples, too, can see the works you are doing;	3 Отож мовили до нього брати його: «Йди таки в Юдею звідсіль: нехай і учні твої побачать діла, що їх ти робиш.
4 no one who wants to be publicly known acts in secret; if this is what you are doing, you should revealyourself to the world.'	4 Ніхто бо не чинить нічого тайно, коли сам явним бути бажає. Якщо ти таке робиш, то і яви себе світові.»
5 Not even his brothers had faith in him.	5 Навіть і брати його, отже, не вірували в нього!
6 Jesus answered, 'For me the right time has not come yet, but for you any time is the right time.	6 Тоді Ісус відказав їм: «Ще мій час не надійшов, для вас же пора — завжди готова.
7 The world cannot hate you, but it does hate me, because I give evidence that its ways are evil.	7 Не може світ вас ненавидіти, — а мене він ненавидить, бо я свідчу проти нього, що діла його лихі.
8 Go up to the festival yourselves: I am not going to this festival, because for me the time is not ripe yet.'	8 Тож ідіте ви на свято. Я на свято тепер не піду, бо не сповнився ще час мій.»
9 Having said that, he stayed behind in Galilee.	9 Мовивши так до них, залишився у Галилеї.
10 However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went up as well, not publicly but secretly.	10 Та коли брати його пішли на свято, то й він так само пішов, однак не явно, а наче потай.
11 At the festival the Jews were on the look-out for him: 'Where is he?' they said.	11 Юдеї ж шукали його на святі, питалися: «Де він?»
12 There was a great deal of talk about him in the crowds. Some said, 'He is a good man'; others, 'No, heis leading the people astray.'	12 І говорили багато про нього люди між собою: одні твердили, що він добрий, а інші відказували: Ні, — він лише народ туманить.
13 Yet no one spoke about him openly, for fear of the Jews.	13 Однак ніхто не говорив про нього явно — зо страху перед юдеями.
14 When the festival was half over, Jesus went to the Temple and began to teach.	14 А як уже настала середина свята, увійшов Ісус у храм і почав навчати.
15 The Jews were astonished and said, 'How did he learn to read? He has not been educated.'	15 І дивувались юдеї, примовлявши: «Як він знає Писання, не вчившися.»
16 Jesus answered them: 'My teaching is not from myself: it comes from the one who sent me;	16 А Ісус озвався і мовив до них: «Моя наука не моя, а того, хто послав мене.
17 anyone who is prepared to do his wil , wil know whether my teaching is from God or whether I speakon my own account.	17 Якщо хтось бажає його волю чинити, то і взнає він, чи наука ота від Бога, а чи я промовляю сам від себе.
18 When someone speaks on his own account, he is seeking honour for himself; but when he is seekingthe honour of the person who sent him, then he is true and altogether without dishonesty.	18 Хто говорить сам від себе, той слави власної шукає. Хто ж того слави шукає, який послав його, той правдивий, і немає неправди в ньому.
19 Did not Moses give you the Law? And yet not one of you keeps the Law!	19 Хіба не дав вам Мойсей закону? А ніхто з вас закон не виконує! Чого бажаєте мене вбити?»
20 The crowd replied, 'You are mad! Who wants to kil you?'	20 Озвався народ: «Чи ти навіжений? Хто тебе вбити бажає?»
21 Jesus answered, 'One work I did, and you are all amazed at it.	21 А Ісус їм у відповідь: «Одне зробив я діло, і ви всі дивуєтесь.
22 Moses ordered you to practise circumcision -- not that it began with him, it goes back to the patriarchs-- and you circumcise on the Sabbath.	22 Тим то дав вам Мойсей обрізання, — воно й не від Мойсея, лише від предків, — і ви обрізуєте чоловіка в суботу.
23 Now if someone can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the Law of Moses is not broken, why areyou angry with me for making someone completely healthy on a Sabbath?	23 Чоловік приймає обрізання в суботу, щоб не був закон Мойсея порушений, — ви ж нарікаєте на мене, що я в суботу цілу людину здоровою вчинив!
24 Do not keep judging according to appearances; let your judgement be according to what is right.'	24 Не судіте з вигляду зовнішнього — судіте справедливим судом!»
25 Meanwhile some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, 'Isn't this the man they want to kil ?	25 Казали отож деякі з єрусалимлян: «Чи не той це, що бажають його вбити?
26 And here he is, speaking openly, and they have nothing to say to him! Can it be true the authoritieshave recognised that he is the Christ?	26 Ось він говорить явно, і йому нічого не кажуть. Невже старшина і справді визнала, що він Христос?
27 Yet we al know where he comes from, but when the Christ appears no one wil know where he comesfrom.'	27 Та ми про нього знаємо, звідкіля він. А Христос коли прийде, то ніхто не знатиме, звідки він.»
28 Then, as Jesus was teaching in the Temple, he cried out: You know me and you know where I camefrom. Yet I have not come of my own accord: but he who sent me is true; You do not know him,	28 Отож Ісус промовив голосно, навчаючи у святині: «І мене знаєте, і знаєте, звідкіля я. Однак прийшов я не від себе самого, правдивий же той, хто послав мене, — а того ви не знаєте.
29 but I know him because I have my being from him and it was he who sent me.	29 Я ж його знаю, бо я від нього, і він мене послав.»
30 They wanted to arrest him then, but because his hour had not yet come no one laid a hand on him.	30 Тим то й хотіли вони схопити його. Та ніхто не наклав рук на нього — не настала бо ще його година.
31 There were many people in the crowds, however, who believed in him; they were saying, 'When theChrist comes, wil he give more signs than this man has?'	31 Численні з народу увірували в нього і казали: «Невже Христос, коли прийде, то більше чудес чинитиме, аніж цей учинив?»
32 Hearing that talk like this about him was spreading among the people, the Pharisees sent the Templeguards to arrest him.	32 Зачули фарисеї, що народ отак гомонів про нього, тож первосвященики й фарисеї вислали слуг, щоб його схопити.
33 Then Jesus said: For a short time I am with you stil ; then I shal go back to the one who sent me.	33 Тоді Ісус промовив: «Ще трохи часу я з вами — і піду до того, хто мене послав.
34 You will look for me and wil not find me; where I am you cannot come.	34 Шукатимете мене — і не знайдете. І де я буду — не зможете прийти.»
35 So the Jews said to one another, 'Where is he intending to go that we shal not be able to find him? Ishe intending to go abroad to the people who are dispersed among the Greeks and to teach the Greeks?	35 Юдеї ж говорили між собою: «Куди то він хоче податися, що ми і не знайдемо його? Чи не до отих розсіяних між греками волить іти ще й греків навчати?
36 'Why do you want to kil me?' What does he mean when he says: "You will look for me and wil not findme; where I am, you cannot come?" '	36 Що він отим словом сказати хотів: Шукатимете мене, і не знайдете, і де я буду, не зможете прийти?»
37 On the last day, the great day of the festival, Jesus stood and cried out: 'Let anyone who is thirstycome to me!	37 Останнього ж великого дня свята стояв Ісус і закликав на ввесь голос: «Коли спраглий хтось, нехай прийде до мене і п’є!
38 Let anyone who believes in me come and drink! As scripture says, "From his heart shal flow streamsof living water." '	38 Хто вірує в мене, як Писання каже, то ріки води живої з нутра його потечуть!»
39 He was speaking of the Spirit which those who believed in him were to receive; for there was no Spiritas yet because Jesus had not yet been glorified.	39 Так він про Духа казав, що його мали прийняти ті, які увірували в нього. Не прийшов був ще Дух Святий, бо Ісус не був ще прославлений.
40 Some of the crowd who had been listening said, 'He is indeed the prophet,'	40 Численні ж з народу, вчувши ті слова, казали: «Він дійсно пророк.»
41 and some said, 'He is the Christ,' but others said, 'Would the Christ come from Galilee?	41 Інші ж: «Він — Христос.» Ще інші: «Чи з Галилеї Христос прийде?
42 Does not scripture say that the Christ must be descended from David and come from Bethlehem, thevil age where David was?'	42 Хіба в Писанні не сказано, ще з роду Давидового Христос прийде, з села Вифлеєму, звідки був Давид?»
43 So the people could not agree about him.	43 І роздор виник із-за нього серед народу.
44 Some wanted to arrest him, but no one actual y laid a hand on him.	44 Бажали і схопити його деякі, та ніхто не наклав рук на нього.
45 The guards went back to the chief priests and Pharisees who said to them, 'Why haven't you broughthim?'	45 Повернулись, отже, слуги до первосвящеників та фарисеїв, а ті питають їх: «Чому не привели його?»
46 The guards replied, 'No one has ever spoken like this man.'	46 Слуги ж відказують: «Ніколи чоловік не говорив так, як цей чоловік говорить.»
47 'So,' the Pharisees answered, 'you, too, have been led astray?	47 Фарисеї ж: «Чи й не ви дали себе звести?
48 Have any of the authorities come to believe in him? Any of the Pharisees?	48 Невже хтось із старшини або фарисеїв увірував у нього?
49 This rabble knows nothing about the Law -- they are damned.'	49 Та проклятий той народ, що закону не знає!»
50 One of them, Nicodemus -- the same man who had come to Jesus earlier -- said to them,	50 Але озвавсь до них Никодим, що приходив до нього вночі, а був же один з них:
51 'But surely our Law does not al ow us to pass judgement on anyone without first giving him a hearingand discovering what he is doing?'	51 «Чи дозволяє наш закон засуджувати чоловіка, не вислухавши його спершу та й не довідавшися, що він робить?»
52 To this they answered, 'Are you a Galilean too? Go into the matter, and see for yourself: prophets donot arise in Galilee.'	52 Ті ж йому: «Чи і ти з Галилеї? Розвідайся, то й побачиш: з Галилеї пророк не приходить.»
53 They al went home,	53 І розійшлися кожен до свого дому.
