Hosea 13

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 When Ephraim used to speak, all trembled; he was a power in Israel; but once he had incurred guiltwith Baal, he died.	1 E parlando Efraim, lo timore (e la paura) assalio Israel; e lasciollo in Baal, e morio.
2 And now they compound their sins by casting images for themselves out of their silver, idols of theirown invention, the work of craftsmen, al of it! 'Sacrifice to them,' they say! Men bestow kisses to calves!	2 E ora sopraggiunsono a peccare, e feciono una bestia dello loro argento, quasi come similitudine d'idolo; e fue tutto fattura di artefice; loro dicono a costoro: o uomini, offerite li vitelli e adorate.
3 That is why they will be like morning mist, like the dew that quickly disappears, like the chaff whirledfrom the threshing-floor, like smoke escaping through the window.	3 E però saranno quasi come nuvola mattutina, e come la rugiada che passa nel mattutino, e sì come la polvere presa dalla tempesta d' una aja, ? come lo fumo tratto del fumaiuolo.
4 But I have been Yahweh your God since your days in Egypt when you knew no god but me, since youhad no one else to save you.	4 E io sono lo tuo Signore Iddio della terra di Egitto; e non saprai altro Iddio che me; e niuno salvatore è (per te) sanza me.
5 I cared for you in the desert, in the land of dreadful drought.	5 Io conobbi te nel deserto, nella terra (isbandita cioè) solitaria.
6 I pastured them, and they were satisfied; once satisfied, their hearts grew proud, and therefore theyforgot me.	6 E riempieronsi e saturaronsi a lato alla sua pastura; e levarono lo loro cuore, e dimenticarono me.
7 So now I shal be like a lion to them, like a leopard I shall lurk beside the road,	7 E io sarò loro come leonessa, e come leopardo nella via delli Assirii.
8 like a bear robbed of her cubs I shal meet them and rend the membrane of their heart, and there likea lioness I shall eat them, like a wild beast tear them to shreds.	8 E farommeli incontro a modo dell' orsa quando le sono tolti li figliuoli, e romperò le interiora dello loro fegato; e consumerolli ivi quasi come leone; la bestia del campo li spezzarà.
9 Israel, you have destroyed yourself though in me lies your help.	9 O Israel, tu non vedi la tua perdizione; ma io sono pure lo tuo adiutorio.
10 Your king, where is he now, to save you, or the governors in al your cities? - whom you oncepleaded for, saying, 'Give me a king and princes!'	10 Dove è lo tuo re? acciò che ora specialmente faccia te salvo nelle tue forze. Li tuoi giudici dove sono? de' quali tu mi dicesti: dammeli per principi e per re.
11 In my anger I gave you a king and in my wrath I have taken him away.	11 E io darò a te re nel mio furore, e torrollo via nella mia indegnazione.
12 Ephraim's guilt is packed away, his sin is locked up.	12 La malvagitade di Efraim sì è legata, e lo suo peccato sì è nascoso.
13 Pangs as of childbirth overtake him, and a stupid child he is; his time is due, but he does not leavethe womb.	13 A lui verranno li dolori, sì come a donna che partorisce; ed egli, come figliuolo non savio, non starà nella contrizione delli figliuoli.
14 Shall I save them from the clutches of Sheol? Shal I buy them back from Death? Where are yourplagues, Death? Where are your scourges, Sheol? Compassion wil be banished from my sight!	14 Della mano della morte li delibererò, e ricompererolli da morte; o morte, io sarò la tua morte; o inferno, io sarò lo tuo morso; la consolazione è nascosa dalli miei occhi.
15 Though Ephraim bears more fruit than his brothers, the wind from the East wil come, Yahweh'sbreath blowing up from the desert to dry his spring, to dry up his fountain, to strip his treasury of everything worthhaving.	15 Però ch' elli farà divisione tra' fratelli; il Signore menerà lo vento ardente (e consumerà), e verrà dello deserto, e seccherà le sue vene, e desolerà la sua fonte; ed egli dirizzerà lo tesoro d'ogni vaso desiderabile.
