NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 A hard lot has been created for human beings, a heavy yoke lies on the children of Adam from the daythey come out of their mother's womb, till the day they return to the mother of them al .	1 Una occupazione grande è (nata e) creata a tutti li uomini, e grave giogo sopra li figliuoli di Adamo, dal die che uscirono del ventre della madre loro, infino nel die della sepoltura nella madre di tutti;
2 What fills them with foreboding and their hearts with fear is dread of the day of death.	2 cioè li loro pensieri e le pagure del cuore e li trovamenti dell' aspettare e il dì dello affinimento (di questa occupazione);
3 From the one who sits on a glorious throne to the wretch in dust and ashes,	3 da colui che siede (Signore) nella gloriosa sede insino a colui che è abbassato in terra e in cenere;
4 from the one who wears purple and a crown to the one dressed in sacking, al is fury and jealousy,turmoil and unrest, fear of death, rivalry, strife.	4 e da colui che usa il color (rosato ovver) celeste, e porta corona, infino a colui che è coperto di lino crudo; furore, gelosia, rumore, tempesta, paura di morte, perseverante iracundia e contenzione,
5 And even at night while he rests on his bed his sleep only gives a new twist to his worries:	5 e nel tempo della refezione nella camera il sogno della notte (che) muta la scienza sua.
6 scarcely has he lain down to rest, when in his sleep, as if in broad daylight, he is troubled withnightmares, like one who has escaped from a battle,	6 Poco come niente sta in riposo, e da lui si vede nel sonno, sì come nel dì si fa ragguardamento.
7 and at the moment of rescue he wakes up, amazed that there was nothing to be afraid of!	7 Conturbato è nel sogno del cuore suo, sì come è conturbato colui ch' è scampato il die della battaglia; levossi suso nel tempo della sua salute, e maravigliandosi (della sua grandezza), nulla temea delle cose che sono,
8 For al creatures, human and animal -- and seven times more for sinners-	8 dall' uomo infino alla bestia, e sopra li peccatori sette cotanti.
9 there is death and blood and strife and the sword, disasters, famine, affliction, plague.	9 A queste cose (oltre le predette) si aggiugne morte, sangue, contenzione, mortalità, oppressione, fame e dicertamento e battiture.
10 These things were al created for the wicked, and the Flood came because of them.	10 Tutte queste cose sono create sopra li iniqui, e però fu fatto il diluvio.
11 Al that comes from the earth returns to the earth, and what comes from the water returns to the sea.	11 (Però) tutte le cose, che sono di terra, in terra rivertiranno; e tutte l'acque ritorneranno in mare.
12 Al bribery and injustice wil be blotted out, but good faith wil stand for ever.	12 Ogni dono (temporale) e iniquitade si disfarae; e la fede durerà sempre.
13 Il -gotten wealth will vanish like a torrent, like the single thunder-clap that heralds rain.	13 Le facultadi delle iniquitadi sì come fiume si seccheranno, e staranno sì come il grande tuono alla piova.
14 When he opens his hand, he rejoices, by the same token, sinners come to ruin.	14 In aprire le mani sue s'allegrerà; così li peccatori languiranno nella fine.
15 The sprigs of the godless wil not make many branches, tainted roots find only hard rock.	15 Li nipoti degl' impii non multiplicheranno rami; e le radici corrotte suonano in su la sommitade della pietra.
16 The reed that grows by every lake and river's edge is the first plant to be uprooted.	16 La verdezza sopra ogni acqua, e alla bocca del fiume sarà divelta prima che nullo fieno.
17 Charity is a very paradise of blessing and almsgiving endures for ever.	17 La grazia sì come il paradiso permane (sempre) nelle benedizioni; e la misericordia starà in eterno.
18 For a person of private means and one who works hard, life is pleasant, better off than either, one whofinds a treasure.	18 La vita dell' operario, lo quale è sufficiente a sè, s'addolcerae; e in lei troverai tesoro.
19 Children and the founding of a city perpetuate a name: more esteemed than either, a perfect wife.	19 O figliuolo, lo edificamento della cittade confermerae la fama dello edificatore; e sopra questa fia computata la fen:ina sanza macula.
20 Wine and music cheer the heart; better than either, the love of wisdom.	20 Il vino e la musica allegrano il cuore; e sopra l'uno e l'altra la dilezione della sapienza.
21 Flute and harp add sweetness to a song; better than either, a melodious voice.	21 Le pifare e li salteri fanno soave melodia; e sopra l'una e l'altro è la lingua suave.
22 The eye longs for grace and beauty; better than either, the green of spring corn.	22 L'occhio desidera di vedere le cose belle e ben formate; e sopra questo desideroe verdi campi.
23 Friend or comrade -- it is always wel met; better than either, a wife and husband.	23 L'amico e il compagno, che nel tempo sono convenevoli, si provano; e sopra amendue la moglie col marito.
24 Brothers and al ies are good in times of trouble; better than either, almsgiving to the rescue.	24 Sono li fratelli in adiutorio nel tempo della tribulazione; e la misericordia, che sopra di loro è, li libererà.
25 Gold and silver wil steady your feet; more esteemed than either, good advice.	25 Oro e argento è stabilmento de' piedi; e sopra amendue lo buono e unanime consiglio.
26 Money and strength make a confident heart; better than either, the fear of the Lord. With fear of theLord, nothing is lacking: no need to seek for other help.	26 Le facoltadi e le potenze corporali esaltano il cuore; e sopra ciascuna d'esse il timore di Dio.
27 Fear of the Lord is a paradise of blessing, a better protection than the highest reputation.	27 Non è nel timore di Dio diminuzione, e non è bisogno in quello cercare altro adiutorio.
28 My child, do not live by sponging off others, better be dead than be a sponger.	28 Il timore di Dio è sì come paradiso di benedizione, e sopra ogni gloria coprirono quello.
29 A life spent in eyeing someone else's table cannot be accounted a life at al . Other people's fooddefiles the gul et; a wise, wel -brought-up person wil beware of doing this.	29 Figliuolo, nel tempo della vita tua non sii mendico; però ch' egli è meglio morire, che mendicare.
30 What a sponger says may sound very sweet but in his bel y there burns a fire.	30 L'uomo che guarda ad altrui mensa, non è la vita sua disposta in pensare dond' egli viva; però ch' egli nutrica l'anima sua con gli altrui cibi.
	31 L'uomo addottrinato e ammaestrato si guarderae da questo.
	32 La inopia fia abbattuta nella bocca dello isciocco; il fuoco arderà nel ventre suo.
