2 Chronicles 11

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 When Rehoboam reached Jerusalem, he mustered a hundred and eighty thousand picked warriors ofthe House of Judah and Benjamin to fight Israel and win back the kingdom for Rehoboam.	1 Venne Roboam in Ierusalem, e convocò tutta la casa di Giuda e di Beniamin, CLXXX milia eletti a combattere, per combattere contra ad Israel, e per fare ritornare a sè il suo regno.
2 But the word of Yahweh came to Shemaiah, man of God,	2 E la parola di Dio fu fatta a Semeia, uomo di Dio, e disse:
3 'Say this to Rehoboam son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to al Israel in Judah and Benjamin,	3 Favella a Roboam figliuolo di Salomone, re di Giuda, e a tutto Israel, il quale è in Giuda in Beniamin:
4 "Yahweh says this: Do not go and make war on your brothers; let everyone go home, for this is mydoing." ' They obeyed Yahweh's command and went back instead of marching against Jeroboam.	4 Questo dice il Signore: non ascendete, e non combattete contro a' vostri fratelli; ciascuno ritorni a casa sua, però che questo si è fatto di mia volontà. I quali udito il sermone del Signore, ritornaronsi, e non andarono incontro al re Ieroboam.
5 Rehoboam, residing in Jerusalem, fortified a number of towns for the defence of Judah.	5 E Roboam abitò in Ierusalem, ed edificò in Giuda cittadi murate.
6 He built Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa,	6 E conciò Betleem ed Etam e Tecue,
7 Beth-Zur, Soco, Adul am,	7 Betsur e Soco e Odollam,
8 Gath, Mareshah, Ziph,	8 e Get e Maresa e Zif,
9 Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah,	9 e Aduram e Lachis e Azeca,
10 Zorah, Aijalon, Hebron, these being the fortified towns in Judah and Benjamin.	10 e Saraa e Aialon ed Ebron, le quali erano in Giuda e in Beniamin, città fortissime.
11 He equipped these fortresses, stationing commanders in them, with supplies of food, oil and wine,	11 E avendole chiuse di mura, puose in loro principi, e cellai di cibi, cioè d' olio e di vino.
12 and shields and spears in each of these towns, making them extremely strong and thus retainingcontrol of Judah and Benjamin.	12 E a ciascuna città fece armamentarii di scuda e di lancie, e fortificolle con molta diligenza; e signoreggiò sopra Giuda e Beniamin.
13 The priests and the Levites from all over Israel left their districts to put themselves at his disposal.	13 E i sacerdoti e i Leviti, i quali erano in tutto Israel, vennero a lui di tutte le sedi loro,
14 The Levites, indeed, abandoned their pasture lands and their holdings and came to Judah andJerusalem because Jeroboam and his sons had excluded them from the priesthood of Yahweh.	14 lasciando le loro abitazioni e possessioni; e andàronsene a Giuda e a Ierusalem, però che Ieroboam gli avea cacciati e' suoi successori, acciò ch' egli non potessono usare l'officio del sacerdote di Dio.
15 Jeroboam had appointed his own priests for the high places dedicated to the satyrs and calves whichhe had made.	15 Il quale (Ieroboam) ordinò a sè sacerdoti dei luoghi alti e de' demonii e de' vitelli, li quali egli avea fatti.
16 And those members of al the tribes of Israel who were determined to seek Yahweh, God of Israel,fol owed those priests and Levites to Jerusalem to sacrifice to Yahweh, God of their ancestors.	16 E di tutte le tribù d' Israel, tutti quelli i quali aveano dato il suo cuore a domandare il Signore Iddio d' Israel, vennero in Ierusalem a sacrificare vittime al Signore Iddio degli padri loro.
17 These added strength to the kingdom of Judah and gave their support to Rehoboam son of Solomonfor three years. For three years they remained loyal to David and Solomon.	17 E fortificarono il regno di Giuda, e confermarono Roboam figliuolo di Salomone per tre anni; però che andarono per le vie di David e di Salomone solamente tre anni.
18 Rehoboam married Mahalath daughter of Jerimoth, son of David, and of Abihail daughter of Eliabson of Jesse,	18 E menò Roboam moglie Maalat figliuola di Ierimot figliuolo di David, e Abiail figliuola di Eliab figliuolo di Isai;
19 and she bore him sons: Jeush, Shemariah and Zaham.	19 la quale fece a lui figliuoli Ieus e Somoria e Zoom.
20 After her, he married Maacah daughter of Absalom, who bore him Abijah, Attai, Ziza and Shelomith.	20 E dopo questa tolse Maaca figliuola di Absalom, la quale partorì Abia, Etai e Ziza e Salomit.
21 Rehoboam loved Maacah daughter of Absalom, more than all his other wives and concubines. Hehad in fact a total of eighteen wives and sixty concubines and fathered twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.	21 E Roboam amò Maaca figliuola di Absalom sopra tutte le donne sue e concubine; e avea menate XVIII mogli, e sessanta concubine; e generd XXVIII figliuoli e LX figliuole.
22 Rehoboam named Abijah son of Maacah as head, hence leader, of his brothers, with a view tomaking him king,	22 E fece in capo Abia figliuolo di Maaca, e puoselo duca sopra tutti i fratelli suoi; però che lui pensava di fare re,
23 and acted wisely by distributing his sons throughout the territories of Judah and Benjamin, some ineach fortified town, where he provided plenty of food for them and found them wives.	23 però che fu più savio e più possente che tutti i suoi figliuoli in tutti gli confini di Giuda e di Beniamin, e in tutte le città murate; e diede loro molta vittuaglia, e domandò molte mogli.
