NEW AMERICAN BIBLEDOUAI-RHEIMS
Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. Writing the same things to you is no burden for me but is a safeguard for you.1 As to the rest, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not wearisome, but to you it is necessary.
Beware of the dogs! Beware of the evil workers! Beware of the mutilation!2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.
For we are the circumcision, we who worship through the Spirit of God, who boast in Christ Jesus and do not put our confidence in flesh,3 For we are the circumcision, who in spirit serve God; and glory in Christ Jesus, not having confidence in the flesh.
although I myself have grounds for confidence even in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he can be confident in flesh, all the more can I.4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other thinketh he may have confidence in the flesh, I more,
Circumcised on the eighth day, of the race of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrew parentage, in observance of the law a Pharisee,5 Being circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; according to the law, a Pharisee:
in zeal I persecuted the church, in righteousness based on the law I was blameless.6 According to zeal, persecuting the church of God; according to the justice that is in the law, conversing without blame.
(But) whatever gains I had, these I have come to consider a loss because of Christ.7 But the things that were gain to me, the same I have counted loss for Christ.
More than that, I even consider everything as a loss because of the supreme good of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have accepted the loss of all things and I consider them so much rubbish, that I may gain Christ8 Furthermore I count all things to be but loss for the excellent knowledge of Jesus Christ my Lord; for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but as dung, that I may gain Christ:
and be found in him, not having any righteousness of my own based on the law but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God, depending on faith9 And may be found in him, not having my justice, which is of the law, but that which is of the faith of Christ Jesus, which is of God, justice in faith:
to know him and the power of his resurrection and (the) sharing of his sufferings by being conformed to his death,10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable to his death,
if somehow I may attain the resurrection from the dead.11 If by any means I may attain to the resurrection which is from the dead.
It is not that I have already taken hold of it or have already attained perfect maturity, but I continue my pursuit in hope that I may possess it, since I have indeed been taken possession of by Christ (Jesus).12 Not as though I has already attained, or were already perfect; but I follow after, if I may by any means apprehend, wherein I am also apprehended by Christ Jesus.
Brothers, I for my part do not consider myself to have taken possession. Just one thing: forgetting what lies behind but straining forward to what lies ahead,13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended. But one thing I do: forgetting the things that are behind, and stretching forth myself to those that are before,
I continue my pursuit toward the goal, the prize of God's upward calling, in Christ Jesus.14 I press towards the mark, to the prize of the supernal vocation of God in Christ Jesus.
Let us, then, who are "perfectly mature" adopt this attitude. And if you have a different attitude, this too God will reveal to you.15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded; and if in any thing you be otherwise minded, this also God will reveal to you.
Only, with regard to what we have attained, continue on the same course.16 Nevertheless whereunto we are come, that we be of the same mind, let us also continue in the same rule.
Join with others in being imitators of me, brothers, and observe those who thus conduct themselves according to the model you have in us.17 Be ye followers of me, brethren, and observe them who walk so as you have our model.
For many, as I have often told you and now tell you even in tears, conduct themselves as enemies of the cross of Christ.18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often (and now tell you weeping), that they are enemies of the cross of Christ;
Their end is destruction. Their God is their stomach; their glory is in their "shame." Their minds are occupied with earthly things.19 Whose end is destruction; whose God is their belly; and whose glory is in their shame; who mind earthly things.
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we also await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.20 But our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ,
He will change our lowly body to conform with his glorified body by the power that enables him also to bring all things into subjection to himself.21 Who will reform the body of our lowness, made like to the body of his glory, according to the operation whereby also he is able to subdue all things unto himself.
