Amos 7

1 This is what the Lord GOD showed me: He was forming a locust swarm when the late growth began to come up (the late growth after the king's mowing).	1 Così mi ha fatto vedere il Signore Dio: ecco: stava plasmando locuste, mentre cominciava a crescere il secondo taglio d'erba. Ed ecco: il secondo taglio era quello che veniva dopo la falciatura del re.
2 While they were eating all the grass in the land, I said: Forgive, O Lord GOD! How can Jacob stand? He is so small!	2 E avvenne: quando ebbero finito di mangiare l'erba della terra, io dissi: Signore Dio, perdona, di grazia: come starà ritto Giacobbe? Poiché egli è piccino.
3 And the LORD repented of this. "It shall not be," said the Lord GOD.	3 Si pentì il Signore per questo. Non sarà, ha detto il Signore.
4 Then the Lord GOD showed me this: he called for a judgment by fire. It had devoured the great abyss, and was consuming the land,	4 Così mi ha fatto vedere il Signore Dio: Ecco: il Signore Dio stava chiamando il fuoco per castigare. Aveva divorato il grande abisso, e avrebbe divorato la campagna.
5 when I said: Cease, O Lord GOD! How can Jacob stand? He is so small!	5 Io dissi: Signore Dio, cessa, di grazia: come starà ritto Giacobbe? Poiché egli è piccino.
6 The LORD repented of this. "This also shall not be," said the Lord GOD.	6 Si pentì il Signore per questo. Neanche questo sarà, ha detto il Signore Dio.
7 Then the Lord GOD showed me this: he was standing by a wall, plummet in hand.	7 Così mi ha fatto vedere: Ecco: il Signore stava ritto sopra un muro a piombo, e nella sua mano un filo a piombo.
8 The LORD asked me, "What do you see, Amos?" And when I answered, "A plummet," the Lord said: See, I will lay the plummet in the midst of my people Israel; I will forgive them no longer.	8 E il Signore disse a me: Che stai vedendo tu, Amos? Risposi: Un filo a piombo. Il Signore disse: Ecco: io sto per porre un filo a piombo nell'interno del mio popolo Israele: non gli perdonerò più.
9 The high places of Isaac shall be laid waste, and the sanctuaries of Israel made desolate; I will attack the house of Jeroboam with the sword.	9 Saranno devastate le alture d'Isacco e i santuari d'Israele saranno desolati; io mi ergerò con la spada contro la casa di Geroboamo.
10 Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent word to Jeroboam, king of Israel: "Amos has conspired against you here within Israel; the country cannot endure all his words.	10 Amasia, sacerdote di Betel, mandò a dire a Geroboamo, re d'Israele: "Amos complotta contro di te, nell'interno della casa d'Israele. La terra non può sopportare tutte le sue parole,
11 For this is what Amos says: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be exiled from its land."	11 poiché così ha detto Amos: "Di spada morrà Geroboamo e Israele sarà deportato in esilio, lontano dal suo territorio".
12 To Amos, Amaziah said: "Off with you, visionary, flee to the land of Judah! There earn your bread by prophesying,	12 Amasia disse ad Amos: "Veggente, va', scappatene nella terra di Giuda, mangia ivi pane e ivi profeterai.
13 but never again prophesy in Bethel; for it is the king's sanctuary and a royal temple."	13 Ma a Betel non continuare a profetare, perché esso è santuario del re ed è tempio del regno".
14 Amos answered Amaziah, "I was no prophet, nor have I belonged to a company of prophets; I was a shepherd and a dresser of sycamores.	14 Amos rispose ad Amasia: "Non sono profeta io né figlio di profeta; io sono mandriano e incisore di sicomori.
15 The LORD took me from following the flock, and said to me, Go, prophesy to my people Israel.	15 Il Signore mi prese da dietro il gregge, e il Signore disse a me: Va', profetizza al popolo mio Israele.
16 Now hear the word of the LORD!" You say: prophesy not against Israel, preach not against the house of Isaac.	16 Ora ascolta la parola del Signore: Tu dici: "Non profeterai contro Israele e non predicherai contro la casa d'Isacco".
17 Now thus says the LORD: Your wife shall be made a harlot in the city, and your sons and daughters shall fall by the sword; Your land shall be divided by measuring line, and you yourself shall die in an unclean land; Israel shall be exiled far from its land.	17 Perciò così ha detto il Signore: La tua donna nella città si prostituirà e i tuoi figli e le tue figlie di spada cadranno, e la tua terra mediante funicella verrà distribuita, e tu su terra impura morrai. Israele sarà deportato in esilio, lontano dal suo territorio".
