1 David sang the words of this song to the LORD when the LORD had rescued him from the grasp of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.	1 E David disse a Dio le parole di questo verso, nel dì che il Signore lo liberò dalle mani di tutti i suoi nemici e dalle mani di Saul.
2 This is what he sang: I "O LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer,	2 E disse: il Signore mia pietra, e mia fortezza, e mio salvatore.
3 my God, my rock of refuge! My shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold, my refuge, my savior, from violence you keep me safe.	3 Iddio mio forte, e io ho sperato in lui, iscudo mio e corno della salute mia; elevatore mio e rifugio mio, liberami della iniquità mia.
4 'Praised be the LORD,' I exclaim, and I am safe from my enemies.	4 Io invocherò lo Signore laudabile, e sarò salvo dai nemici miei.
5 "The breakers of death surged round about me, the floods of perdition overwhelmed me;	5 Però che [mi] circondarono gli dolori della morte, e i fiumi della iniquità mi spaurirono.
6 The cords of the nether world enmeshed me, the snares of death overtook me.	6 Gli funi dello inferno mi cerchiarono, e vennero innanzi a me gli lacci della morte.
7 In my distress I called upon the LORD and cried out to my God; From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry reached his ears.	7 Nella mia tribulazione chiamerò al mio Dio del suo santo templo; ed esaudirà la mia voce, e il mio gridare fu nelli orecchii suoi.
8 "The earth swayed and quaked; the foundations of the heavens trembled and shook when his wrath flared up.	8 La terra fue commossa e tremò; e le fondamenta de' monti furono commosse e conquassate, però che Iddio era irato a loro.
9 Smoke rose from his nostrils, and a devouring fire from his mouth; he kindled coals into flame.	9 Del suo naso ascendeo il fumo, e il fuoco della bocca divorerà; i carboni s' accesero da lui.
10 He inclined the heavens and came down, with dark clouds under his feet.	10 E inchinò i cieli, e discese; e la caligine sotto i piedi suoi.
11 He mounted a cherub and flew, borne on the wings of the wind.	11 E ascendette sopra i Cherubini, e volò sopra le penne de' venti.
12 He made darkness the shelter about him, with spattering rain and thickening clouds.	12 Egli pose le tenebre nel circuito suo, vagliando le acque de' nuvoli dell' aria.
13 From the brightness of his presence coals were kindled to flame.	13 Li nuvoli sono splendidi nel suo cospetto; furono accesi i carboni del fuoco.
14 "The LORD thundered from heaven; the Most High gave forth his voice.	14 Il Signore tonerà del cielo, e l'altissimo darà la sua voce.
15 He sent forth arrows to put them to flight; he flashed lightning and routed them.	15 Mandò le sue saette, e dissipolli; il fulgore, e consumogli.
16 Then the wellsprings of the sea appeared, the foundations of the earth were laid bare, At the rebuke of the LORD, at the blast of the wind of his wrath.	16 E apparvero gli spargimenti del mare, e le fondamenta della terra furono rivelate dalla reprensione del Signore (fuggirono) e dalla spirazione dello spirito del suo furore.
17 "He reached out from on high and grasped me; he drew me out of the deep waters.	17 Mandò da alto, e tolsemi; e trassemi di molte acque.
18 He rescued me from my mighty enemy, from my foes, who were too powerful for me.	18 Liberommi dal mio nemico potentissimo, e da quelli che mi odiavano; perchè erano più forti di me.
19 They attacked me on my day of calamity, but the LORD came to my support.	19 Nel dì della mia afflizione fu innanzi a me, e fu il Signore mio, firmamento mio.
20 He set me free in the open, and rescued me, because he loves me.	20 E trassemi nella larghezza; e liberommi perchè gli piacqui.
21 "The LORD rewarded me according to my justice; according to the cleanness of my hands he requited me.	21 Renderammi il Signore mio secondo la mia giustizia; e secondo la mondizia delle mie mani renderà.
22 For I kept the ways of the LORD and was not disloyal to my God.	22 Però ch' io servai le vie del Signore, e non operai empiamente col mio Iddio.
23 For his ordinances were all present to me, and his statutes I put not from me;	23 Però che tutti i suoi giudizii erano nel mio cospetto; e i suoi comandamenti non rimossi da me.
24 But I was wholehearted toward him, and I was on my guard against guilt.	24 E sarò perfetto con esso lui; e guarderommi dalla mia iniquità.
25 And the LORD requited me according to my justice, according to my innocence in his sight.	25 E renderammi il Signore secondo la mia giustizia, e secondo la mondizia delle mie mani nel cospetto degli occhii suoi.
26 "Toward the faithful you are faithful; toward the wholehearted you are wholehearted;	26 Col santo sarai santo; e col forte, perfetto.
27 Toward the sincere you are sincere; but toward the crooked you are astute.	27 E collo eletto sarai eletto; e col perverso sarai perverso.
28 You save lowly people, though on the lofty your eyes look down.	28 E farai salvo il popolo povero; e cogli occhii tuoi li eccelsi umilierai.
29 You are my lamp, O LORD! O my God, you brighten the darkness about me.	29 Perchè tu sei la mia lucerna, Signore; e tu, Signore, illuminerai le mie oscuritadi.
30 For with your aid I run against an armed band, and by the help of my God I leap over a wall.	30 E io accinto correrò in te; nel mio Iddio passerò il muro.
31 God's way is unerring; the promise of the LORD is fire-tried; he is a shield to all who take refuge in him."	31 Iddio, la sua via è senza macula; la parola del Signore fie esaminata col fuoco, e fie scudo a tutti quelli ch' hanno speranza in lui.
32 "For who is God except the LORD? Who is a rock save our God?	32 Però chi è Iddio altro che il Signore, e chi è forte altro che il nostro Iddio?
33 The God who girded me with strength and kept my way unerring;	33 Iddio che mi cinse di fortezza, e fece piana la mia perfetta via.
34 Who made my feet swift as those of hinds and set me on the heights;	34 Agguagliando i miei piedi a' cervi, e pognendomi sopra le mie altezze.
35 Who trained my hands for war till my arms could bend a bow of brass.	35 Ammaestrando le mie mani alla battaglia, e componendo le mie braccia come arco d'acciaio.
36 "You have given me your saving shield, and your help has made me great.	36 Tu mi desti lo scudo della tua salute; e la tua mansuetudine mi moltiplicoe.
37 You made room for my steps; unwavering was my stride.	37 E tu dilaterai sotto a me gli miei andamenti; e i miei talloni non verranno meno.
38 I pursued my enemies and destroyed them, nor did I turn again till I made an end of them.	38 Io perseguiterò gli miei nemici, e romperogli; e non torneroe, tanto ch' io gli abbia consumati.
39 I smote them and they did not rise; they fell beneath my feet.	39 Io gli consumerò e gli romperò, si che non si rileveranno; e caderanno sotto gli miei piedi.
40 "You girded me with strength for war; you subdued my adversaries beneath me.	40 Tu mi cignesti di fortezza a combattere; e incurvasti sotto di me gli miei avversarii.
41 My enemies you put to flight before me and those who hated me I destroyed.	41 Tu desti a me il dorso de' miei nemici; e confondesti quegli che mi odiavano.
42 They cried for help-but no one saved them; to the LORD--but he answered them not.	42 Egli chiamaranno, e non sarà chi salvi loro; al Signore, e non gli esaudirà.
43 I ground them fine as the dust of the earth; like the mud in the streets I trampled them down.	43 Io gli torrò via, sì come la polvere della terra; e come il fango delle piazze gli romperò e minuzzerò.
44 "You rescued me from the strife of my people; you made me head over nations. A people I had not known became my slaves;	44 Tu mi salverai delle contraddizioni del mio popolo, e fara'mi capo delle genti; il popolo, il quale io non conosco, mi servirà.
45 as soon as they heard me, they obeyed.	45 E i figliuoli d'altrui mi faranno resistenza, e con l'audito degli orecchii obbediranno a me.
46 The foreigners fawned and cringed before me; they staggered forth from their fortresses."	46 E i figliuoli istrani vennero meno, e saranno contratti nelle loro angoscie.
47 "The LORD live! And blessed be my Rock! Extolled be my God, rock of my salvation.	47 Vive il Signore, e benedetto Iddio mio; sarà esaltato lo Iddio di mia salute.
48 O God, who granted me vengeance, who made peoples subject to me	48 Iddio il quale dài a me la vendetta, e fai cadere gli popoli sotto a me.
49 and helped me escape from my enemies, Above my adversaries you exalt me and from the violent man you rescue me.	49 Il quale mi trài da' nemici, e da quelli mi fanno resistenza mi sublevi; tu mi libererai dall'uomo iniquo.
50 Therefore will I proclaim you, O LORD, among the nations, and I will sing praise to your name,	50 E però tra le genti ti laudarò, e canterò al tuo nome.
51 You who gave great victories to your king and showed kindness to your anointed, to David and his posterity forever."	51 È quello che magnifica la salute al suo re, e fa misericordia al cristo suo David e al suo seme in sempiterno.
