1 לא תראה את שור אחיך או את שיו נדחים והתעלמת מהם השב תשיבם לאחיך	1 'If you see your brother's ox or one of his sheep straying, you must not disregard it: you must take itback to your brother.
2 ואם לא קרוב אחיך אליך ולא ידעתו ואספתו אל תוך ביתך והיה עמך עד דרש אחיך אתו והשבתו לו	2 And if he is not close at hand or you do not know who he is, you must take it home with you and keepit by you until your brother comes to look for it; you wil then return it to him.
3 וכן תעשה לחמרו וכן תעשה לשמלתו וכן תעשה לכל אבדת אחיך אשר תאבד ממנו ומצאתה לא תוכל להתעלם	3 'You must do the same with his donkey, the same with his cloak, the same with anything that yourbrother loses and that you find; you must not disregard it.
4 לא תראה את חמור אחיך או שורו נפלים בדרך והתעלמת מהם הקם תקים עמו	4 'If you see your brother's donkey or ox fal over on the road, you must not disregard it, but must helpyour brother get it on its feet again.
5 לא יהיה כלי גבר על אשה ולא ילבש גבר שמלת אשה כי תועבת יהוה אלהיך כל עשה אלה	5 'A woman must not dress like a man, nor a man like a woman; anyone who does this is detestable toYahweh your God.
6 כי יקרא קן צפור לפניך בדרך בכל עץ או על הארץ אפרחים או ביצים והאם רבצת על האפרחים או על הביצים לא תקח האם על הבנים	6 'If, when out walking, you come across a bird's nest, in a tree or on the ground, with chicks or eggsand the mother bird sitting on the chicks or the eggs, you must not take the mother as wel as the chicks.
7 שלח תשלח את האם ואת הבנים תקח לך למען ייטב לך והארכת ימים	7 Let the mother go; the young you may take for yourself. Thus wil you have prosperity and long life.
8 כי תבנה בית חדש ועשית מעקה לגגך ולא תשים דמים בביתך כי יפל הנפל ממנו	8 'When you build a new house, you must give your roof a parapet; then your house will not incur blood-vengeance, should anyone fal off the top.
9 לא תזרע כרמך כלאים פן תקדש המלאה הזרע אשר תזרע ותבואת הכרם	9 'You must not sow any other crop in your vineyard, or the whole yield may become forfeit, both thecrop you have sown and the yield of your vines.
10 לא תחרש בשור ובחמר יחדו	10 'You must not plough with ox and donkey together.
11 לא תלבש שעטנז צמר ופשתים יחדו	11 'You must not wear clothing woven part of wool, part of linen.
12 גדלים תעשה לך על ארבע כנפות כסותך אשר תכסה בה	12 'You must make tassels for the four corners of the cloak in which you wrap yourself.
13 כי יקח איש אשה ובא אליה ושנאה	13 'If a man marries a woman, has sexual intercourse with her and then, turning against her,
14 ושם לה עלילת דברים והוציא עליה שם רע ואמר את האשה הזאת לקחתי ואקרב אליה ולא מצאתי לה בתולים	14 taxes her with misconduct and publicly defames her by saying, "I married this woman and when Ihad sexual intercourse with her I did not find evidence of her virginity,"
15 ולקח אבי הנער ואמה והוציאו את בתולי הנער אל זקני העיר השערה	15 the girl's father and mother must take the evidence of her virginity and produce it before the elders ofthe town, at the gate.
16 ואמר אבי הנער אל הזקנים את בתי נתתי לאיש הזה לאשה וישנאה	16 To the elders, the girl's father wil say, "I gave this man my daughter for a wife and he has turnedagainst her,
17 והנה הוא שם עלילת דברים לאמר לא מצאתי לבתך בתולים ואלה בתולי בתי ופרשו השמלה לפני זקני העיר	17 and now he taxes her with misconduct, saying, I have found no evidence of virginity in your daughter.Here is the evidence of my daughter's virginity!"
18 ולקחו זקני העיר ההוא את האיש ויסרו אתו	18 They must then display the cloth to the elders of the town.
19 וענשו אתו מאה כסף ונתנו לאבי הנערה כי הוציא שם רע על בתולת ישראל ולו תהיה לאשה לא יוכל לשלחה כל ימיו	19 The elders of the town in question wil have the man arrested and flogged, and fine him a hundredsilver shekels for publicly defaming a virgin of Israel, and give this money to the girl's father. She wil remain his wife; as long as he lives, he may not divorce her.
20 ואם אמת היה הדבר הזה לא נמצאו בתולים לנער	20 'But if the accusation that the girl cannot show evidence of virginity is substantiated,
21 והוציאו את הנער אל פתח בית אביה וסקלוה אנשי עירה באבנים ומתה כי עשתה נבלה בישראל לזנות בית אביה ובערת הרע מקרבך	21 she must be taken out, and at the door of her father's house her fellow-citizens must stone her todeath for having committed an infamy in Israel by bringing disgrace on her father's family. You must banish thisevil from among you.
22 כי ימצא איש שכב עם אשה בעלת בעל ומתו גם שניהם האיש השכב עם האשה והאשה ובערת הרע מישראל	22 'If a man is caught having sexual intercourse with another man's wife, both must be put to death: theman who has slept with her and the woman herself. You must banish this evil from Israel.
23 כי יהיה נער בתולה מארשה לאיש ומצאה איש בעיר ושכב עמה	23 'If a virgin is engaged to a man, and another man encounters her in the town and has sexualintercourse with her,
24 והוצאתם את שניהם אל שער העיר ההוא וסקלתם אתם באבנים ומתו את הנער על דבר אשר לא צעקה בעיר ואת האיש על דבר אשר ענה את אשת רעהו ובערת הרע מקרבך	24 you will take them both to the gate of the town in question and stone them to death: the girl, for nothaving cal ed for help in the town; the man, for having exploited his fel ow-citizen's wife. You must banish thisevil from among you.
25 ואם בשדה ימצא האיש את הנער המארשה והחזיק בה האיש ושכב עמה ומת האיש אשר שכב עמה לבדו	25 But if the man ran into the betrothed girl in the open country and slept with her, having taken her byforce, her ravisher alone must die;
26 ולנער לא תעשה דבר אין לנער חטא מות כי כאשר יקום איש על רעהו ורצחו נפש כן הדבר הזה	26 you must do nothing to the girl, she has not committed a capital offence. The case is like that of aman who attacks and kil s his fel ow:
27 כי בשדה מצאה צעקה הנער המארשה ואין מושיע לה	27 since he came across her in the open country, the betrothed girl may have cal ed out, withoutanyone's coming to her rescue.
28 כי ימצא איש נער בתולה אשר לא ארשה ותפשה ושכב עמה ונמצאו	28 'If a man meets a young virgin who is not betrothed and seizes her, sleeps with her and is caught inthe act,
29 ונתן האיש השכב עמה לאבי הנער חמשים כסף ולו תהיה לאשה תחת אשר ענה לא יוכל שלחה כל ימיו	29 her ravisher must give the girl's father fifty silver shekels; since he has exploited her, she must be hiswife and, as long as he lives, he may not divorce her.'
30 לא יקח איש את אשת אביו ולא יגלה כנף אביו
