1 Salmo di David. De' figliuoli di Jonadab, e de' primi prigionieri. In te, o Signore, ho posta la mia speranza: non sia io confuso in eterno: per la tua giustizia dammi liberazione, e salute.	1 A Psalm of David. Of the sons of Jonadab and the former captives. In you, O Lord, I have hoped; do not let me be brought to ruin forever.
2 Piega le tue orecchie verso di me, e salvami.	2 Free me by your justice, and rescue me. Incline your ear to me, and save me.
3 Sii tu a me un Dio protettore, e un asilo sicuro per farmi salvo: Perocché mia fermezza, e mio rifugio se' tu.	3 Be a God of protection and a place of strength for me, so that you may accomplish my salvation. For you are my firmament and my refuge.
4 Dio mio, liberami dalle mani del peccatore, e dalle mani del violator della legge, e dell'iniquo;	4 Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the sinner, and from the hand of the unjust and those who act against the law.
5 Imperocché tu se', o Signore, la mia espettazione, Signore, tu mia speranza fin dalla mia gioventù.	5 For you, O Lord, are my patience: my hope from my youth, O Lord.
6 Sopra di te io posai nell'uscire dall'utero: dal seno della madre mia tu se' mio protettore.	6 In you, I have been confirmed from conception. From my mother’s womb, you are my protector. In you, I will sing forever.
7 Te io cantai in ogni tempo: fui tenuto da molti come un portento; ma un forte difensore se' tu.	7 I have become to many as if I were a portent, but you are a strong helper.
8 Sia piena la mia bocca di laude, affinchè io canti la tua gloria, e la tua grandezza per tutto il giorno.	8 Let my mouth be filled with praise, so that I may sing your glory, your greatness all day long.
9 Non rigettarmi nel tempo della vecchiezza: non abbandonarmi quando verrà meno la mia fortezza.	9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age. Do not abandon me when my strength will fail.
10 Imperocché contro di me han parlato i miei nemici; e quelli che tende vano insidie all'anima mia han tenuto insieme consiglio,	10 For my enemies have spoken against me. And those who watched for my soul have taken counsel as one,
11 Dicendo: Iddio Io ha abbandonato, tenetegli dietro, ed afferratelo, dapoichè non v'ha chi lo scampi.	11 saying: “God has abandoned him. Pursue and overtake him. For there is no one to rescue him.”
12 Non ti dilungare, o Dio, da me: Dio mio, volgiti ad aiutarmi.	12 O God, do not be far from me. O my God, provide for my assistance.
13 Sian confusi, e vengan meno coloro, che appongono calunnie all'anima mia: siano coperti di confusione, e di vergogna quelli che amano il mio male.	13 May they be confounded, and may they fail, who drag down my soul. Let them be covered with confusion and shame, who seek evils for me.
14 Ma io sempre spererò, e laudi aggiungerò a tutte le laudi tue.	14 But I will always have hope. And I will add more to all your praise.
15 La mia bocca predicherà la tua giustizia, e tutto il giorno la salute, che vien da te.	15 My mouth will announce your justice, your salvation all day long. For I have not known letters.
16 Perché io non ho cognizione di lettere mi internerò nella possanza del Signore; della sola giustizia tua, o Signore, io mi ricorderò.	16 I will enter into the powers of the Lord. I will be mindful of your justice alone, O Lord.
17 Tu, o Dio, fosti mio maestro fin dalla mia giovinezza, e io annunzierò le meraviglie fatte da te fino a quest'ora:	17 You have taught me from my youth, O God. And so I will declare your wonders continuously,
18 E tu fino alla vecchiezza, fino all'età avanzata, o Dio, non mi abbandonare, Fino a tanto, che io a tutta la generazione, che verrà, annunzi la tua fortezza,	18 even in old age and with grey hairs. Do not abandon me, O God, while I announce your arm to every future generation: your power
19 E la potenza tua, e la tua giustizia, che va fino agli altissimi cieli, e le magnifiche cose fatte da te. Chi, o Dio, è simile a te?	19 and your justice, O God, even to the highest great things that you have done. O God, who is like you?
20 Quante facesti provare a me tribolazioni molte, ed acerbe! e di nuovo mi ravvivasti, e dagli abissi della terra di bel nuovo mi ritornasti:	20 How great is the tribulation that you have revealed to me: very great and evil. And so, turning back, you have brought me to life, and you have led me back again from the abyss of the earth.
21 Tu desti in molti modi a conoscer la tua magnificenza, e di bel nuovo mi consolasti.	21 You have multiplied your magnificence. And so, turning back to me, you have consoled me.
22 Imperocché io pure al suono de' musicali strumenti darò laude a te per la tua verità: te io canterò sulla cetra, o Santo d'Israele.	22 Therefore, I will confess your truth to you, with the instruments of the Psalter. O God, I will sing psalms to you with stringed instruments, O Holy One of Israel.
23 Esulteranno le mie labbra, e l'anima mia redenta da te quando io canterò le tue lodi.	23 My lips will exult, when I sing to you, and also my soul, which you have redeemed.
24 Ed ancor la mia lingua tutto di parlerà della tua giustizia, allorché confusi, e svergognati rimarranno quelli, che amano il mio male.	24 And even my tongue will meditate on your justice all day long, when those who seek evils for me have been confounded and set in awe.
